We struck a great repour with Takalani. The remainder of the staff was also courteous and friendly. The disappointment was the spa was closed and we weren't advised at all. Other than that, it was a great experience and can recommend it to anyone. I loved the old-school woodwork finishes all over the property.
It was super nice, dinner and breakfast were delicious.
The room is very good and spacious. Service from check-in to the restaurant was appalling. Food is inedible and you do not have a choice, as you are nowhere near any other eating facilities. Breakfast was an absolute disaster, by 09h30 no bacon, mince, chicken livers or anything on the buffet. You were left with an omelette that the chef cooked to order but he could not even get the correct ingredients into your omelette as ordered. Although I understand that the venue is child-friendly, the noise in the restaurant from children at dinner was unacceptable. The fake plastic flowers on the tables are absolutely "kitch". Surely being in Tzaneen you could have just put a bouganvilla flower or an azalea on the table.
Ideal place for an annual getaway for us, a whole week of rest and good food. Off season, not too busy with quiet restaurant, bar and spa on request.
Spa prices very reasonable, lovely walking route around the hotel and spa - paved all the way.

Not the same hotel as in previous years. Now just a hotel. Rooms and gardens have been neglected. Reception is friendly, but no information is given. You'll have to ask. Rooms are only cleaned at 14:00. It rained and we had to spend our time in an untidy room. The information brochure in the rooms is from quite a few years ago. Old, dirty postcards inside. The bedlamp is skew. Very little attention to detail. The reclining chairs at the swimming pool is of poor quality (painful to lie on). Hotel needs a renovation. Staff friendly.
At the Coach House Hotel and Spa you step back in time. The old world atmosphere and royal treatment was an experience. We found the rooms clean and comfortable. The staff were all extremely polite, friendly and helpful from the time we arrived until we left. Breakfast was included in our booking and we also enjoyed dinner in the restaurant - very well priced and every dish was delicious! We will definitely stay at the Coach House again and also recommend it to all our friends and acquaintances.
Coach House Hotel is situated in a beautiful spot with wonderful views on the Drakensberg mountains! The history of the hotel goes a long way back. The furnishings in the Coach House Hotel rooms are oldish and may need some change at a certain stage. The room that we were booked in had a very strong smoke smell from the fireplace inside the room. We asked for an alternative room and the staff gladly assisted us. Our room had all the amenities that you would expect from a 5 star hotel, except for the fact that there were no bath sheets, but only bath towels. The food served in the restaurant was excellent!!
