For the price it was everything we could have expected. The room is located behind a restaurant/pub, but the walls are thick enough that there was no noticeable noise. The layout is pretty basic, but clean and looks just like the photos. The solar panels for load shedding and air conditioning are a bonus. In the morning we had a very nice breakfast at the restaurant for a very reasonable price.

Thank goodness it was only 2 nights. The staff is friendly, but the place needs a makeover and a good cleaning. I really struggled to get the hot water going with the gas geyser. At least I managed to shower, but the faucet was still broken. Put a chair in the room, not everyone wants to sit on a bed or lie on a bed and watch TV.
It is centrally located, neat, safe, delicious meals at the restaurant. Would definitely recommend the place for business or group bookings.
The stay was fine, no major issues. We had an issue with hot water in room 4 for the first two days but it was resolved. It would be great if the accommodation had a kitchen for the guests.
I chose yes on recommendation because there isn't an option for maybe (that would actually be my choice). The place is pleasant, food is fantastic, but I wouldn't recommend it for people who want to crawl in early. Because there is a bar right next to and in front of apartment no. 4 is, it is terribly noisy until 9 o'clock. The waiters also do not consider other guests at all, because they make noise and shout in the corridor when they deliver food to other guests. The gas geysers also only let the hot water come out after 15 minutes, although they say let it be gas geysers, I don't think that's how long it should take. We also forgot my pillow in the room, and although the establishment let us know, a call would have been better because a message was missed. We sent a courier to pick up the pillow, and it arrived, but it was dirty and smelled of barbecue smoke, which makes me think they left the pillow somewhere near a fire.

For one night's stay it might be okay. The first thing I found when I walked in was a cockroach on the fridge. The shower handles were loose. The shower's water outlet cover was broken. Maintenance can be done on site. Walls are very thin. Can hear everything the people next door are doing.

Geyser did not work, I had a cold shower, there was a rubbish dump outside our room with alcohol bottles, the bathroom was dirty, mouldy and had scum everywhere.
I did not stay longer than 2 hours. The plumbing is a mess. You need a degree to get the shower water to stay at temperature. The aircon blows only normal wind as if a broken fan. I won't want anyone staying in that, thank you.

The log cabin is not very comfortable, the shower faucet was broken and we had to guess where the hot and cold water was, the air conditioning was very pleasant and worked well, the sheets on the bed were turned upside down which makes you wonder if turned around after the previous guests' visit? The open toilet in the room is not comfortable. It feels like sleeping in a 'wendy house' and I think that R750 per night is too much money for what you get. I recommend the restaurant to anyone passing by, the service is excellent and the food was very tasty and good quality and value for money.
Good value for money if you need to stay overnight for a night or 2. People were friendly and you don't need to drive for meals or anything, there is a restaurant on site.
This is a very nice place, also beds and shower are very clean, tidy and very comfortable. But we're very disappointed, no oven, cooking very difficult because too many flies over food. I am sorry about locking the doors both, but my fault. I am fed up, shut down the power, so I had a problem cooking my breakfast.

A family member and I slept in one of the cabins for a night after visiting a friend. The interior of the cabin is nicely decorated. There is an air conditioner, although it was not warm inside. We simply enjoyed breakfast at the Cock & Bull and ordered the "special" for a reasonable price.
We were warmly welcomed and walked into a lovely room, air-con etc. Everything impeccable. We were able to enjoy a delicious dinner outside at the restaurant.
Staff and owners incredibly hospitable. The food is of outstanding quality. The rooms will now be upgraded and this is needed at this stage. Rooms have everything needed but need the upgrade.

The place is very neat and well situated for the area. The fact that it is almost part of the bar is a problem if you do not socialise with the other people until 03:00. Other guests who had come into the bar made a lot of noise and sleep was not possible until 4am when everything had subsided. That said, I wasn't aware of the layout of the facilities until we checked in. Otherwise, it was very decent.
The appearance at the entrance of Cock & Bull is not bad, but the rooms we got are rented out to contractors during the week. There is not even a chair to sit on in the room. There is no seating outside your room. No braai facilities. At half past seven on Sunday morning, the builders started chopping wood right next to our room.
Room was not clean after previous guests left. Towels and sheets were dirty but at least they were replaced the next day.

The restaurant was not open December 24-26. Would expect that we would be notified prior to our arrival seeing that it does not allow for self-catering. The chalet needs some maintenance. Otherwise everything's in order.
At R900 per night, we expected much more. The place was dirty and maintenance was very poorly done.
What a disappointment it was! Friday night there was no water, no communication with the guests what the problem is. I had to call the manager to find out what the problem was. The interior of no13 was a fiasco. The bathroom door handle hangs by one screw, there are no towel rails, the outside door has a slot at the top where the wind comes in, the ceiling is broken, you can see the roof. There was only 1 duvet on the bed, with no extra blanket for colder times. The shelves in the closet fell off and were not put back. A braai is placed in front of the room, but there are no braai tools or cutlery available. Cock & Bull advertises breakfast and dinner is available. However, I was told that the kitchen does not open until 09h00. I asked for food packages to be prepared for my husband and son for Saturday, this was never done. My husband and son decided not to sleep another night there. The dishes were washed during Saturday, but the towels were left as they were.

Cock & Bull was easy to find the service was exceptional with friendly waiters. They were very organized and we were booked in straight away, the room was clean, spacious and came with a kettle and coffee cups. The bathroom area is a bit small but the shower is big enough for two people. There was no problem with the hot water and the water pressure. It was a very nice place to spend the evening.

The log cabins' plumbing leaves much to be desired. When toilets or showers are used, the dirty water just falls straight onto the grass behind the cabins. Toilets also leak in the bathrooms. Everything else was neat. Arrangements went well and the gate guard was available to open the gate when we returned late from a wedding.
There are so many things to see and when all that is over, it is nice to return to a great place like Cock & Bull to rest and spend the night. We so much enjoyed our stay.
The restaurant's food was very nice. The unit is equipped with a microwave oven, a fridge and a kettle. They also provided coffee. We didn't get cold when we slept. The bathroom door couldn't close properly and the shower faucets came off. The fridge was a bit noisy, apart from that we slept well.
Rooms got messed up with the booking
We were very happy that we were able to find accommodation so quickly. The arrangements were very well organized, we were given good instructions of how payments work and how to get there and we were reminded of our booking with them which worked great. The place we stayed in was good for the price we paid for three people for the night. We just thought that they would have to look at the bedding that everything was clean and tidy. My mother found a very big nasty spider and black hairy worm in her bed that night at 23:00 when we arrived at the place. So we first took everything off the beds and had a good look when it happened and also first removed those insects. It was very creepy. The sink runs at such an angle that the little soap bottle we put down kept falling off. The bathroom is a bit cramped and there isn't anything you can put your bottles or anything on. The towel rail was loose and I didn't realize it so the next morning when I took my towel off the whole thing came off the wall. Furthermore, the shower is wonderfully large. The bedding was also nice and there were beautiful towels on each bed which we didn't use, we used our own. The bathroom could use some attention. I think maybe a bigger mirror in the bathroom would be great and a small table or just a shelf against the wall would be good on which you can put things. And then the lighting in the bathroom and room is a bit poor, so if they could maybe look at that that would be awesome. The small fridge that is there keeps everything nice and cold that you put in and the television's signal is a bit weak in case there are people who would like to watch something. We weren't pissed off or angry about anything, I'd say rather then maybe Cock & Bull could just look into it. It was peaceful around us and the restaurant's food was really, really good!
Shower, toilet and basin area is super small. Stairs of about 2,5 m high were very uncomfortable for the ladies. View is bad, you're in the backyard of a pub&grill.

Very comfortable, safe (external gate is locked, and there is a guard at the gate). In the "cottage" itself it is clean, with a convenient fridge, kettle, cupboard and bathroom. The location is ideal for overnight stays. The service was fast, friendly and convenient. Would definitely recommend!

Accommodation was perfect just for spending the night if you have to be at a wedding or party far from home. Something that bothered somewhat which I personally find important is that the space in the bathroom was too cramped. People with big build or long legs would find it quite uncomfortable. Apart from the bathroom I would also suggest a shade or carport for parking for those staying in the log cabins. I found it easy as I could simply park downstairs, even though it would be somewhat inconvenient for someone spending a whole weekend. I would recommend friends to the place, but unfortunately not some of my friends who would find the bathroom facilities quite uncomfortable. In general the air-conditioning in the log cabin was very nice!

The shower was awful so I decided not to spend the night. The room wasn't dirty but the floor was dusty and the shower was black from mould. The food and service was good, however. A nice place to spend at for the day.

Lovely little place to stay as a central point in travelling around Harties/Magalies Meander. Cottage was clean and comfortable and the aircon a blessing. Bathroom very small but usable. The only improvement is they needed more pillows on the bed.

We traveled with my in-laws who are elderly people. My father-in-law had to shower in cold water that night, we reported it and just waited for the next morning. We thought they would turn on the geyser, but the next morning there was no hot water and we all had to get ready for a wedding. In addition, there were other guests who imposed themselves on us. We excused ourselves and went to our rooms with the result that they tried to taunt us with laughter and shouting until the wee hours of the morning. We were quite disappointed in the whole experience.
We knew it was a two beds in a room The space in bathroom too small cant close door when sitting on toilet. Although we were prepared for the bare minimum in the room it lacks cleanliness and having people in the room next door was a nightmare. Every time they moved it felt like we were on a stormy sea. The wooden bungalow feels very unsafe.

We stayed over for one night as we were attending a wedding in the area. The accommodation was simple. The airconditioner was a great relief in the heatwave. The room was clean, the shower needed to be cleaned but it did not represent the entire state of the room. People are very friendly and helpful. Stairs are steep - but we were warned about this at the point of booking. There are alternative options available on the premises if you are looking for no steps or something more comfortable.

I would give a 4 out of 10 for the stay. We were not really received very kindly. No reception, so had to go into the bar to book in. The room was not really very clean. Linen worn and sheets have stains on them. Towels wrinkled and rock hard. After our night out, the gates were closed and no one was there to open them but had to struggle to get them open themselves.
It's not a place for anyone with children at all. We had to sleep on single beds as a married couple. No hot water. The owners are not friendly at all. Not even asked why we were walking a day earlier. I would suggest that if you are coming for a weekend away with your husband and children, turn people away instead, because it is not a place for children. No thanks, never again.

The rooms are not self-catering except rooms 13 and 14, but are convenient for overnight stays. Meals and drinks can be ordered at the on-site restaurant which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. Breakfast is not included in the rate. Otherwise, guests can also sit back with a drink in the beautiful garden.
