This place is good value for money - Clean and safe. We often spend the night here and always come back.
The room was well appointed and clean. The two regular beds have electric blankets, but the bunk bed does not. It was bitterly cold that night, but the air conditioner helped a bit (although it wasn't terribly effective). The coffee facilities are handy, but a sink for the dishes would be an asset.
We are grateful that the manager of the accommodation was able to help us at short notice. It was a very cold evening and ample provisions were made for that. Secure parking. Everything needed is available for a quick stay in Colesberg. We will stay there again.

We have been using Coles Corner for many years as a stopover on our way to places in the Western Cape or on our way back home. We have always experienced only good service. We have stayed in several "rooms" there and they were all equally comfortable, although the layouts differ. We stayed in room 6 this time and there are only two things that bothered us. The cords to control the roof fan are too short and I couldn't reach them. There is one small window high on the wall that does not have a curtain, so the room was not pitch dark during the night. Unfortunately, we were in such a hurry to get down the road that I didn't mention it to the owner.

If I have to compare Coles Corner to (Mangos) in Beaufort West, then there is no comparison. This is roughly the same price as I paid for Coles Corner. I suggest getting new shower towels and more comfortable beds. The beds are very hard and uncomfortable.

We were received very kindly and taken to our rooms. We were two families and we were not booked close to each other but they gave us another room so we could be next to each other. We travelled from Johannesburg to Knysna - with a stopover in Colesberg. Coles Corner was the perfect stopover to get a good night's sleep and a nice hot shower. on the way back from Knysna we left later in the afternoon and Coles Corner followed up with us if we were still checking in and the approximate time of arrival. They also let us know there would be load shedding at our arrival time so we could be prepared. We let them know when we are close by and the host was waiting for us. Would stay there again and recommend to friends and family travelling far.

The owner was welcoming and I found the accommodation to be comfortable and clean with a hot shower, coffee and microwave for my convenience.
I was received very kindly. The unit is well furnished with air conditioning. Even biscuits are provided for your morning coffee. The unit is beautifully clean and tidy. There is secure parking. Thank you very much. It was a positive experience to spend the night with you.

Coles Corner was a lovely little place, very clean and cute. Just be aware, the road leading to it looks sketchy and the surrounding houses look old and dilapidated. We thought we were lost, but Coles Corner is very nice in comparison.

No information on Wi-Fi availability was given or how to exit the motorised gate in case of loadshedding. The bathroom light switch is not next to the bathroom door where it is expected, but in a totally different place.

The guest house was very clean and comfortable. Close to all amenities and parking is very safe. The reception we received was professional and left nothing to be wanted. Could not access WiFi but did not worry too much about that hence not requiring assistance.

Stay was pleasant, room was clean, tidy, furnished with an aircon which is wonderful. Nice coffee and tea station and spacious shower. This is all one needs for a stopover on the way to the Cape. Also close to nice restaurants, Innie Kraal has delicious food. Some attention can be paid to renovation work here and there, the sun damages the paintwork etc.
I stayed there comfortably, felt safe within the grounds and when I needed help at about 11:45pm, the host came out to help. Was very kind and waited until I had settled down before he went back to sleep.
The accommodation is comfortable and makes provision for your needs for an overnight stay. A/C warmed the room nicely on a cold winter night. Coffee etc. and rusks for an early morning start. Short drive into town to restaurant for good Karoo lamb.
The unit was clean and tidy. We were received by a friendly couple. I would like to mention a few points that need attention. Shower door does not close. The toilet handle was not fully operational. The bed mattress needs to be replaced (double bed). The lamp connection was not fully operational. It smelled like the room was smoked in. The kitchen is kitted well. I had a lot of trouble sleeping. I was worried about the safety. The sliding door only has a pinch to close. I can see that they don't know Gauteng. The rooms need an upgrade and WiFi. Everything else was fine.
The owner was very friendly and the area looked fine. There was noise from something on the roof and outside for most of the night. My wife and I were unable to sleep at all. Also the room felt very dusty, ventilation seems to be problem. The travel from Cape Town to Johannesburg is lengthy and I booked this so that we could get a nice night's sleep which was not the case.

It's bad enough that we have to deal with load shedding, then the aircon in the room doesn't even work properly. The room is in a sun-part so we killed from the heat. We put the aircon on turbo 16 degrees, nothing, then we want to turn on the roof fan, but there is no string. We had a very restless night because we got terribly hot. First, we did not specify room 3 on our reservation.
Not a pleasant stay. Although we booked for four people, apart from two single beds, there were two bunkers for the remaining two, all in one room. No Wi-Fi information was given on arrival and we had to ask for it which was very slow. On top of it, the landlord was showing us his watch and reminding us that we have to leave because it was after 10AM and we were 25 minutes late. I will not stay there again.

We were kindly welcomed at Coles Corner, and very surprised by the convenience and details in the room! There is air conditioning, the bathroom is large and comfortable and clean. There was milk in the fridge, and delicious biscuits along with the coffee facilities (of which there were more than enough). Our vehicle was safely covered and behind a gate. We had a great stay at Coles Corner and it was the perfect stopover between Cape Town and the Vaal Triangle.

Coles Corner was the perfect place for what we needed. A hot shower and a soft bed to sleep in.
The room we slept in was very neat and more than we needed. There was even coffee and biscuits with milk left for us. Owner was friendly and helpful and we quickly felt at home. They really thought of everything and that's all you need to shorten your journey and recharge for the next distance you have to drive. All that is not nice is the loadshedding. But for the money you pay, you cannot expect the owner to have a backup system.

Maybe just take an extra blanket if loadshedding is expected, because then the electric blankets don't work and Colesberg is just cold in the winter.

It was very cold when we arrived in Colesberg, but the room was properly equipped with extra blankets, air conditioning and even electric blankets on the two single beds, to combat the cold. Upon arrival there was loadshedding, and they made an effort to give us light so that we didn't have to sit in the dark. The stay was very nice, the place itself is very beautiful and they put a lot of effort into the place and accommodation to make it as comfortable as possible. I was pleasantly surprised that there was also a bottle of milk provided for the coffee or tea supplied. There is an air conditioner for use. The bathroom has a shower, basin and toilet. Also a hair drier is available for the ladies. I will definitely make use of the place again and will recommend it to my family and friends.

Unfortunately there were no load shedding aids in the room. One candle but no matches. Rechargeable lights or globes would have been a big help during the dark hours of load shedding.
Coles Corner was our halfway overnight stop between Mossel Bay and Pretoria.
The reception was warm and friendly. The unit was nice, neat and clean. Detail is precious and very cutely done. Bed slept great and we were slow to get out of it.
We were welcomed with a friendly smile and went for a pleasant meal at the Platterlander.

The guest house and location are perfect. I was so impressed with the place until the little lady working there booked us into the wrong place. We inquired, but according to her paper it was right. The way the owner handled it and treated us was unacceptable. He apologized but I would never recommend anyone to stay there. Instead, pay more and feel welcome.

Room had a very strong unpleasant deodorant smell, I asked host about it to maybe remove it but he answered dishonestly about it and said it was the toilet spray. However, we later come to clearly smell the scent of a cat that has marked the spot. Dishonesty is unacceptable.
There is a microwave but no container to heat things in. No plates or knives and forks. So what is the microwave for? Can not be to make coffee, because there is a kettle.

We have been sleeping over here since 2019, at least 3 to 4 times a year but lately the drain is blocked, you end up in a pool of water that doesn't drain. The toilet flushes and the air conditioning doesn't even work. Then the dust layer thick on the shelf in the bathroom. One can see that it has not been cleaned for a long time.
Enjoyed my stay, the staff were friendly. No problem checking in and I could relax easy once I was in my comfortable room.

My wife and I travel to PE at least once a year and always spend the night at Colesberg and have stayed in various guest houses. We were pleasantly surprised by the superior quality service offered by Coles Corner. We were kindly received by Nihan, who was also willing to strike up a conversation which also added warmth to the guest house's atmosphere. The room where we spent the night was equipped with all facilities for two people. The site is very neat and well maintained and guests' vehicles have covered parking. The premises are safe and security is no problem. I can highly recommend Coles Corner without any reservations. It's a waste of time to search further.

My son and I shared the one bedroom. We were welcomed so kindly and within driving distance of places to eat. Colesberg is a beautiful town with beautiful old houses and buildings. Unfortunately only stayed one night, but slept over again on the way back. Can highly recommend Coles Corner.

I would definitely recommend it. To be more effective, they must be able to inform guests regarding the surrounding roads if there are roads that are closed. Coles Corner is well located with the heavy vehicle noise almost inaudible. The price is very reasonable and the room was clean and tidy. Biscuits, coffee, tea, milk and Cremora were very welcome. The mattress was very comfortable and the air conditioner as well as the warm electric blanket speak of excellent service.
We decided at the last minute to stop over in Colesberg, and were also going to check in later. Als went smoothly with the communication, and the stay was so much more than we expected! Lovely beds with good linen and plenty of warm stuff - on top of the wall heater and electric blankets too. Very well equipped and clean. Will definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

We arrived where Nihan met us with the words: this is your house. As explained. Pleasantly surprised with a beautiful clean room with everything we needed. It was cold in Colesberg that evening, but there were lovely electric blankets on all the beds which made us sleep snuggly. Only shortcoming is there is only milk for one coffee drink.

I was so impressed with Cole's Corner. It was sparkling clean, the finishes were modern and well maintained. The pressure and hot water in the shower was superb! I also want to note that I read a prior review of someone saying they recommend a non-slip mat in the shower as the tiles are slippery - when I got there, there was a non-slip mat in the shower which just goes to show that Cole's Corner take on guest feedback. Which is so great to see! On top of that, Betsie and Nihan thought of everything. From cotton buds and cotton swaps in the bathroom to rusks with your tea and coffee. I feel grateful that this is where we stopped over and really encourage you to pack your costume as they have a fantastic and beautiful pool too! Really recommend! P.S. - the only recommendation I have is to install WiFi. With COVID so many people are working remotely and having WiFi will help them stay connected to work. But in the same breath, they have perfect Cell C and Vodacom coverage so you are still able to connect with your own device. Thank you Nihan and Betsie!

Coles Corner is exactly what we want from an overnight place. Safe and tidy! There is only one recommendation I would like to make: I know it is the custom all over the world not to have a top sheet on the bed. In the winter it might work, but in the summer it's really not convenient as it's far too hot to sleep under the duvet and you want to sleep under 'something'. Couldn't Coles Corner just stick to the old tradition of a top sheet, please.

We arrived and were kindly welcomed and immediately shown to our accommodation. The decor is a bit old-fashioned but definitely still very comfortable, clean and tidy. Everything is provided that one expects from such an accommodation, coffee, biscuits, sugar, clean towels, etc. Picked up a small problem with the aircon which initially did not want to function properly but the owner quickly sorted it out and we slept really well and calmly continued our journey the next day.
On arrival, one was warmly received. We could swim and all the places to eat were close by. The unit was clean and very neat and had a very peaceful evening.

We stopped over here on the way to and from Cape Town. The room was very spacious for the 3 of us (one of which was our 1 year old with her own cot). It is close to major garages and restaurants, easy access to and from the highway, this little gem is well worth the stay.

After a long day's drive from the West Coast, Coles Corner was a very convenient and welcome stopover. On reception Nihan was very friendly and helpful and we were comfortable in our unit within minutes. The unit was very clean with good beds and bedding and a lovely shower. I will stay here again when I come back down to the Cape.

The reception was friendly and helpful. There was parking behind a security fence and electric gate. The room was neat and clean, the bed was uncomfortably high en the matras was soft and gave a rocking sensation. We are short and thin and found it uncomfortable. The bedding was clean and soft!

Tranquility and comfort are the key words! We were able to park our car right by our room behind a locked gate for which guests get a remote to come and go as they please. The room and bathroom were spotless, cool and tidy. We were able to use the freezer in the house to store meat for the night and to cool water because February was extremely hot! There wasn't a fan. but luckily the room was cool enough. The two easy chairs were awesome! There is a TV but unfortunately no WiFi, We will definitely stay at Coles Corner again!

It's neat, well equipped and safe. However, there is one thing that bothers me: I know that this is the practice at many guesthouses, but I would like to ask if Coles Corner will consider the following: How about a top sheet on the bed. In summer it is completely impossible to sleep under a duvet. I also wonder if the duvet cover is washed every time, after guests check out - so maybe I'm sleeping under the duvet that the previous guests slept under. As mentioned, it is too hot to sleep under the duvet and most people prefer to have something light over them when they sleep. Thank you very much for your positive consideration!
It's the ideal overnight stay between the Cape and Gauteng and we've made use of Coles Corner a few times now. The only thing that's missing that stopped us from giving 5 stars is the fact that there's no cupboard to unpack your clothes in, especially if you stay for longer than 1 night.

We had a wonderful overnight stay, provision was made for all types of weather conditions. Only criticism is the absence of a wardrobe. There is space in the unit for a closet with shelves to unpack clothes. At the moment there are only a few hooks on the walls.

We were in room 1, however there is a connecting door to the adjoining room, it was not very pleasant smelling the smoke coming from next door and also hearing the voices from next door all the time, we are non-smokers. Furthermore, the stay was very pleasant.
As a one-night stopover, Coles Corner met all the basic needs for two people. The room, although somewhat small, and bathroom were clean, tidy and provided with basic appliances such as a fridge, crockery, kettle, etc. However, there is no so-called self-catering or breakfast facilities.

We stayed at Coles Corner twice on our Gauteng/Cape trip during October. Both times we were housed in rooms that were clean, tidy and comfortable. The owners were friendly and hospitable and made us feel comfortable. They also went out of their way to help me find someone in Colesberg on a Saturday afternoon (during the Currie Cup final) that could help me replace a torn tire. If any traveler needs a safe, clean, tidy, comfortable overnight's rest, my recommendation is Coles Corner.

Me, my mother-in-law and daughter arrived at Coles Corner very tired and in the dark after a long day and were given a very warm and hospitable welcome. Ons het eers 10 uur die aand daar aangekom. Dit was nie ‘n probleem gewees nie, hulle her vir ons gewag. Dit was bitter koud buite gewees, toe ons binne die kamers gekom het was dit baie snoesig gewees met die verhitting wat hulle aan gehad het vir ons. Ons het so 5 uur die oggend weer gery, op pad uit toe laat hulle my weet dat my dogter haar wintersokkies daar vergeet het. Sy was bly gewees dat hulle ons laat weet het, want dit is haar gunstelingpaar wat sy oorsee gekoop het. Baie dankie vir die lekker kort kuier, ons sal definitief weer kom.
The two rooms we booked were very comfortable. Me, my wife as well as the elderly lady who accompanied us were very impressed with the rooms. The kindness with which we were received by Nian (hope that's spelled correctly) was truly appreciated. The fact that my car's windows were cleaned the next morning by removing the frost from Nian is a testament to Coles Corner's friendliness, helpfulness and excellent service.

Our cottage had a fridge - with milk and cold water, glasses and cups, kettle, tea/coffee/sugar - and homemade rusks! Hairdryer. DStv. Electric blankets. Ceiling fan. You can park your packed car inside, in front of your cottage. An upmarket and classy guesthouse! So worth your money! They're on my speed dial.

The rooms are awesome and well equipped. The bed was very nice to sleep on. The room is absolutely fantastic.
Upon our arrival we were received very kindly by Betsey. The room (sleeps 3) was very nice, modern and tidy, and for the end of July in Colesberg, the electric blankets and the aircon/heater were very welcome! Betsey also told us where in town we could have a delicious dinner. The room has everything you need, even a nice piece of biscuit for the next morning before you hit the long road again. Thank you very much for allowing us to spend the night at your lovely place. We will definitely come there again in the future.

Neat units with air conditioning and a variety of DStv channels. Secure parking and enough space for a trailer. This is now our favorite overnight accommodation in Colesberg for sure.

This was probably the 6th time we stayed at Coles Corner. Betsey is a friendly hostess and everything is always clean and neat. In the bathroom there are extras such as cotton, cotton buds and face cloths. And the rusks are always delicious!

Spotless accommodation which is furnished and styled with character, lovely, comfortable bed with electric blanket and panel heater that ensures a warm bed (and morning - it was 2°C outside). Friendly hostess provides assistance with parking of fully loaded bush trolley within the security fence. Really a halfway-oasis for weary travellers from the north to the Cape. Definitely to be recommended.
Betsie received us hospitably. The accommodation was very neat and well equipped. A microwave came in handy. We slept nice and warm in the cold Colesberg with warm blankets on the beds and nice hot water to shower with. A heater in the bathroom would have made it nice in the cold too!

Coles Corner is the perfect halfway stop between the Cape and Johannesburg. Would highly recommend them. I would just recommend that the swimming pool get a net or be fenced. Was a bit nervous that our children might fall in there. Furthermore, Coles Corner has met all our expectations.

The hostess wanted to take out the bunk beds, which I find unnecessary because there are so many families looking for accommodation where their children can sleep together in the room. Coles Corner is a very nice and tidy place and we were received very kindly.
We stayed with our 2 grandchildren and they enjoyed the "bunk beds" very much. The beds slept very well. And the gray area in front of the rooms was too nice for the children to frolic around. The TVs are a bit small in the room - so the kids just wanted to lie on our bed all the time to see what was going on on the TV. The towels are also a bit worn out and think it's time for new ones. But other than that we had a very good night's sleep and will definitely use Coles Corner again.

It was a pleasant surprise to stay overnight at Coles Corner, especially for the price we paid. Neat, comfortable and tastefully furnished. There was a corner by the door set up as a kitchen, fully equipped. There was also a ceiling fan and air conditioning. Outside the door there was also a two seater sofa to sit in the shade and relax, which was a surprise. In the room there were also two chairs to sit on and watch television. The rusk was also nice, although we usually take rusk that I bake myself.

The reception was hearty and friendly and because the freezer in the fridge didn't work, Betsey was friendly enough to put our frozen food in her freezer for the night. Even though everything is beautiful, it definitely isn't self-catering. There are only facilities to make tea or coffee.

Unit was neat and clean. They were constantly in contact with us. The staff were very friendly and hospitable.
