A simple overnight hut, away from the town's busy streets. A stone's throw from the beach. The accommodation is neat, clean and comfortable, with everything a traveler would need.
We stayed for 4 nights and 5 days. We didn't spend much time at the Chalet, as our kids participated in the 41st Freda Barnard Swimming Gala. My husband, 2 kids, and I stayed in the Swarthout Chalet and my parents in the Hadeda. Both Chalets were clean and tidy, beautiful inside and out, and equipped with everything you needed [other than food of course]. I think that the uploaded photos don't do any justice to the venue, the scenery and nightlife are so beautiful and tranquil. I wish we stayed longer to explore the venue a bit more but regrettably had to leave. I would definitely book this venue again for extended family as well. The chalets only have 1 bedroom but with a sleeper couch in the open-plan lounge. The Swarthout is big enough for 4 people but the Hadeda is a smaller chalet, only for 2, max 3 (please do confirm with the owners first). We stayed in the Swarthout as a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids, 13 and 6). My 6-year-old would "sleepover" between the 2 chalets (on the sleeper couch in the Hadeda, hence why I said max 3 people). I would definitely recommend Colnera self-catering chalets if you're looking for a scenic and relaxing getaway.
Perfect location. Surrounded by forest and breathtaking starry night. Retha is friendly and hospitable. We will definitely go back to Colnera. Highly recommended if you are looking for the silence of nature.

Colnera offers good value for money and has the perfect location in the George area. We were at nearby places like Victoria Bay and Herolds Bay in no time. We received good service and the break away, surrounded with the natural beauty and silence did us very well. Thank you Rheta.
Showers could be a little cleaner.
Couldn't park our car near the cottage, had to take extra stuff with us for loadshedding. No table inside the house to eat at.
Close to the sea and the towns are not far apart.
Absolutely fantastic place to stay, people friendly, quietly serene. Close to amenities, easily accessible to surrounding towns and easy access to the freeway.
The unit is equipped to be suitable for 2 people. The view over the mountain is exceptional. Nice barbecue area with plenty of free wood.
Was truly very pleasant. The place is very well located for the feel and area of the bushveld, semi-farmlife, but the sea is just a stone's throw away and George Airport is also close by. If we may make a friendly suggestion, could they maybe consider budgeting long-term for the design and change of the stove and geysers to gas, then any possible loadshedding inconveniences will be cancelled out. We were also nicely helped by Retha if we needed to know something and experienced helpfulness from reception to check-out. Mostly excellent.

So nice weekend. Made the best of it by having a braai and catching fish even though the fish did not want to bite. Very safe there and close to everything. I would recommend it!

We had a great time the few days we were there and it was really quick to get to Herolds Bay. Thank you Retha for your hospitality.
Lovely hidden accommodation. Spacious room, bathroom and living room. It was great to braai in the woods. The owner was very kind and accommodating since we arrived very late. It is perfect for a quick getaway weekend, but I would stay even longer since it has everything you'd need. The houses are spaced out enough so that no one bothers one another, but not so close that friends and family can't vacation here as a group.
Friendly reception and we were treated well by Retha. There was no shortage or issues. We had a good stay.

Baby clothes very different in houses. However, there was neither a grater nor a sieve! Would also prefer curtain in living room where children have to sleep on sofa bed! One chalet does have a curtain in the living room! Furthermore, we had a very nice stay!

Nice and private. Great getaway from the busy city life, but close enough to everything.
Was just disappointed in the cleanliness. Dishcloths were dirty and broken. Cutlery was a lot of mixed plates, cutlery also insufficient with up to 2 plastic teaspoons, 1 small plate. We went to buy dishcloths and glasses as well as mugs. The toilet was also very dirty, we cleaned it with jik. No directions to the dam.
It was very pleasant. I really like the idea that you don't have to go looking for wood to grill. You can be nice and quiet among the trees, without feeling unsafe.
