Second time staying at Courageous, this time was booked in at room 5, was greeted at the gate and shown where the room was. The room was neat and tidy. A plus point was the electric blankets as it was quite cold that night. Courageous is the perfect stopover and will use them again.

I enjoyed my stay, after reading some of the reviews I was doubting my choice of accommodation. You get a rustic feel of the place when you enter. It's a perfect stop-over, but for people who are used to finer things in life, they would not find it to their taste. I will stay there again as I said, it is perfect for a stop-over.

The door of my accommodation, room 3, is totally broken down. It falls apart. We spent the night with an unlocked door. According to the workers there, the door has been in this condition for quite a long time, and the owners of the BnB are fully aware of it.
Comfortable room with all the essentials.
Only intended for overnight stays. No bedside tables next to the bed, so you struggle a bit with a glass of water and your phone next to you. Also no sink except for the bathroom. You just have to rinse your drinking glass or cup in the bathroom.
The place is very clean. I did not feel safe in the room. There are no burglar bars on the windows or glass door. Between the rooms there was only a thin inner door. People chatted loudly until almost 10 o'clock. There is also no curtain in the sitting and dining room, only lace. It feels like someone is watching you.
We were 2 couples traveling together. We initially booked room 3 and 4 which are next to each other. On arrival we were informed that we would be staying in room 4 and 6. Room 6 is part of the large brick house and not a wooden house like rooms 3 and 4. Room 6 was neat and comfortable with a decent bed. There was cutlery available, but not full sets, so we could not use it for our meal. The crockery, kettle, fridge and television were sufficient. Have a nice shower. The room adjoins other rooms in the house with thin walls in between, so one can hear conversations from other rooms. Room 4 was one of the wooden houses on the farm. The room was not completely neat and clean. The door could not be locked from the inside. The beds were all 3 wobbly and mattresses not firm. One of the beds' electric blanket cord couldn't reach a wall plug. 2 different experiences, but price is the same for both rooms. The car gate works with a remote and does not close automatically. Some of the other guests left the gate open when they came in, which is not so pleasant. Depending on which room one gets, it is a comfortable place to stay overnight with basic facilities.

Absolute value for money. The owner upgraded our room without us asking. A big plus is the generator during load shedding. Very centrally located and neat and clean. Can definitely recommend the guest house.

Courageous Accommodation welcomed me and my little girl with open arms. We felt so safe, but also very peaceful. The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful. Will use them again.
In the main road for access but at the end of town, so as to not have heavy traffic noise. Owner had a few restaurant recommendations and didn't mind giving more coffee sachets when asked. The room was cleaned, we did not expect that, even though we only stayed there 2 nights.

Booked unit 3 but got room 6. The closed door between the house and room is not soundproof, people moved in and out of the other room and I could hear almost every word of the conversations. Fortunately, I could turn up the TV. I was not notified in advance there was no water in Harrismith. Fortunately, with the help of the evening, I was able to flush the toilet and take a shower the next morning. Thank you, you took a good look at me.

We decided on the spur of the moment to go see snow - after 7pm the hostess was still available for quick feedback and our booking. Once there we were warmly welcomed and the host even brought the children McFlurrys. The cottages were, as my 7 year old said, "exactly like the pictures"! I initially made the booking, but I was not there first, my partner arrived before I did. Called the owner and he had no issues with letting him in and showing him our room which was really nice and clean I must say. It was cosy and romantic, just how I had envisioned it. Upon arrival, no one knew what was going on. We had to wait outside and struggle to get hold of the owner. Rooms we booked were not available on the day. No one was helpful, room keys were just given. We had been there for a total of 2 hours, at which point we decided to pack our bags and drive. No one contacted us or asked if everything was okay. We just feel this was not hospitable at all and will definitely not make a reservation there again. I hope the owner takes note of the above and takes it into account for future guests.

Very neat and cute place. Was just awfully hot and would prefer firmer mattresses or perhaps air conditioning. Remember to tell guests to turn on the geyser or you'll end up in a cold shower.

Tanya was really helpful but there are little things that need attention like making sure enough towels are put out for visitors staying over, we got 2 but were 3 people, maybe a shower mat before the shower to make sure that you don't slip when you get out, fixing the basket in the shower against the wall so that your toiletries don't fall out because the basket hangs around the faucet head, a small washcloth or drying towel for washing and drying the coffee cups and spoons as there is no place to wash them and you have to wash your coffee cups in the bathroom sink. Furthermore, the accommodation is a nice, peaceful and ideal place to spend the night if you only want to drive halfway to the sea and don't fancy the long way.
The accommodation was good for an overnight stop, especially if you are coming in late at night. Management were fully prepared in terms of directions, instructions and convenience.
I called Johan and told him that the faucet was not working, he complained that the guests turned the faucet too tight and that was the problem. He didn't come to see if he could come and see what was wrong. After 20 minutes of struggle we got it open. The next morning it was the same story. The tap is a cheap stop tap that you use outside that you don't open and close a lot.
We were welcomed very kindly. Was able to take a nice hot shower and sleep well after the day's journey.
The room is comfortable, clean and tidy. Johan and his family are very pleasant and friendly people and make that extra effort to make you feel comfortable. He even ordered and personally picked up our pizzas.
We were very satisfied and it was exactly what we had in mind: neat, nice decor, overnight accommodation with a TV and WiFi. Thank you very much that my boy could play so well with you while my husband and I could watch a nice movie. Everything was perfect, but if I could name one thing that I would change it would be the double bed mattress. He is very soft, like a waterbed, I wouldn't be able to sleep on him for more than one night. I don't want to complain because I was really satisfied, but if I can give advice, just get another double bed mattress then everything is 100%. Maybe other people like it and it's just me. We will use your accommodation again and thank you for your hospitality.
