"Peaceful, enjoyable."

It was pleasant, full of character, very nicely appointed (Manor House) with outside hotel rooms. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our dinner and breakfast were delicious!

We were a large group that slept together. Check in was so easy and convenient. Rooms are spacious and extremely neat. The coffee machine in each room is a bonus that we enjoyed. The place is walking distance from Loftus. Security was very friendly with us when we walked in there late at night.

Very pleasant, thank you. Details such as a loose sink faucet and holes in linen were reported. I reckon it will be followed up. Very friendly and helpful staff.

"Bad unprofessional service."

Checking in at reception went well. We then decided to have a drink on the veranda as it was raining, and we would have been very wet by the time we had arrived at our suite. The drinks order was placed, and it took about 10 minutes before it arrived, and we were the only people there at that time. The drinks arrived, and the order had been totally messed up. There was also no Coca Cola available. My wife needed to go to the bathroom in the hotel, and the toilet was blocked, with no notification to this effect. We requested that a notice be posted to prevent possible embarrassment for other guests. Our booking clearly stated that we wanted a smoking suite, and that was confirmed on the booking documentation. On arrival at the suite, there were no smoking signs inside and outside the suite. I went to reception to query this and was told if there is no smoke detector in the suite, it was a smoking suite, but there were smoke detectors. The sliding door from the suite to the patio was broken and could not be opened, this too was reported to reception. We requested dinner to be brought to the suite, and this went without a hitch. The quality and the taste of the meal were good. On booking out the following morning, the lady at reception looked up my details on the computer and gave me an amount to pay. I paid by card. Thinking back on the bar bill and dinner bill which I signed for, the numbers did not add up. I queried this with the receptionist and gave her the figure I thought the bill should have been, and asked her for the invoices. She agreed with my figures but never produced the invoices I requested. I never received a final statement of account when I left. I was refunded R225.00 in cash.

The room was dirty. Anthills on the floor. Really. The room was definitely not cleaned ahead of time. No teaspoons to stir your coffee. Really not what one would expect.

Beautiful buildings that are close to our hearts. One of the residential houses was the commune where my husband lived as a Tukkie student. So we were a bit disappointed in terms of a few basics considering the cost for a room. The porch was dusty and full of leaves, toilet leaked, the system that regulates water between the bath faucet and shower head was faulty, so water runs out of both when the faucet is open, no hair dryer, channel with rugby was not available on tv the bar etc. I specifically asked if we should make reservations for dinner. Staff indicated that it was not necessary, but there was only one person on duty and the poor man was running on his legs stumped to keep amal happy. The hotel is beautiful and has so much potential but needs some attention and care for sure. PS Piet at reception and Roseman in the dining hall were very friendly and helpful!
