Comfortable accommodation is offered in 2 en-suite bedrooms. The main bedroom contains a double bed, and the second bedroom contains a single bed and an overhead bunk bed. The cottage comprises a fully-equipped self-catering kitchen, including a washing machine, stove, fridge and microwave, as well as a separate dining room, and a living room with a TV, a fireplace and a daybed which can accommodate an additional guest. A spacious outdoor verandah is the ideal spot to soak up the views, and guests are urged to bring a camera and binoculars. A Carport is provided, as well as portable braai facilities. Birding and photographic opportunities.
Crags Cottage is off the grid so guests will not be inconvenienced by load shedding or the regular power cuts which hound the area during and after storms.
Bird watching, fly fishing, bass fishing, and the Midlands Meander are popular attractions in the area, as well as Giant’s Castle, Kamberg Nature Reserve, Highmoor Nature Reserve, and Weenen Nature Reserve. Several golf courses, craft shops, and restaurants are also located nearby.
The Vaalekop Ecotrail, starting below the property, is a circular 4-km walk down to the dam and along its edge then back along the local road.

40 guests' feedbackVery nice and very beautiful. I recommend it for sure!
The accommodation was great, everything one could need was provided (including firewood)! The view over the Spring Grove dam is superb.
Yes, definitely. Everything was perfect, calm and peaceful. The place has an amazing view and a lot of bird life. Will definitely stay there again.
This was by far the most beautiful place I have been to. The house itself has everything you might need and more. It was clean, well-equipped with an absolutely breathtaking view. Our host was incredibly gracious and regularly checked in to ensure we were still enjoying our stay.
There are great walks and the cottage has everything required for a comfortable stay.
Graham was a good host. The cottage had everything we needed, as well as lovely views.
An exceptional break in a breathtaking location. Nothing can beat that view from the cottage over Spring Grove Dam! And the safety is so great, walking there is both fitness and food for the soul, including the trail around the dam. I walked every day a few times a day, and it was full moon, and the birds were prolific! Wow! I will definitely come again. Pity about the potholes to get there on about 8 km of municipal roads though!
The cottage has beautiful views and more than enough space inside. Well equipped for cooking at home or a braai outside. Just a note that the cottage is not serviced on weekends, so the fireplace can get full quickly. Unfortunately, one of the rooms was not made up when we arrived, but it was done the next morning.
Awsome view enjoyed it a lot.
Well organised and beautiful location. Very comfortable.
A restful farming environment stay about 20 minutes outside of Nottingham Road. Beautiful views over a dam. Peaceful, well-equipped little cottage.
They are very hospitable and make an effort to make you feel at home. It's a beautiful environment and there is everything you need. There is plenty to do in the area or you can just rest and relax.
I was supposed to stay 4 nights and ended up staying 6 nights. I just couldn't get enough of the tranquility and incredible view. It's even more beautiful than in the photos. The cottage is very comfortable with everything you need. Really feels like home.
Quiet, peaceful with a fantastic view.
The cottage is situated in a lovely area with stunning views. The roads aren't as bad as expected, it was a safe drive to and from the cottage. Would definitely visit again.
Bed was very uncomfortable and lumpy. Bathroom was definitely not up to standard. View was absolutely magnificent. A pity about the bed and bathroom.
Highly recommend. Amazing hospitality and breathtaking views.
Very cozy, well-equipped cottage. Owners very friendly. So peaceful and relaxing. Just a lovely, lovely place. Main bedroom's mattress may need attention, but besides that the place is fantastic.
Not just accommodation but a home away from home. The hosts go out of their way to make your stay memorable and comfortable.
Neat accommodation with a very friendly and helpful host. Will know to return to Crags Cottage at any time.
Awesome break away for peace and quite and a full cottage with all the necessary pieces to make for a lekker longer stay. Only negative was the bathrooms are a bit small.
Thanks Graham and Shirley for your hospitality. You have a beautiful, peaceful and quiet place. We had a relaxing time!
See stars.
Awesome place with beautiful views, very clean and cosy. Has everything you would need.
Environment was beautiful. Facilities excellent and wonderful hosts.
Dankie Graham, was mal oor ons verblyf. Ons sal weer terug wees.
We really enjoyed our time in this huge holiday cottage with the gorgeous views. I cannot fault anything, and the owners were friendly and helpful. We're already making plans to return.
Crags Cottage is suitable for single travellers, family group, friends etc. It was very neat and the people are pleasant. We were very satisfied, I booked it for my parents who came to visit for the weekend and they just want to move here after staying there. I will use them again.
Will return to Crags Cottages.
It was fantastic to get away form the city and experience the tranquility. We enjoyed the view and healing silence, while we stood in awe of all the birds in rainbow colours.
If you're craving peace and quiet, this is the perfect destination. The house was comfortable for the 3 of us and the porch with the view is a winner. The main bedroom's bathroom is uncomfortably small. We had ants in the kitchen and mentioned it to the owner. Apart from that we really thoroughly enjoyed the accommodation. Great value for money.
It was peaceful in the Midlands.
Friendly reception. Cottage equipped with everything we needed. Unlimited wood supply for the fireplace. Room heater would have come in handy. Beautiful dam view from the patio.
Clean, neat, fully equipped. We will definitely go there again to enjoy the beauty and tranquillity of it all. The owners are very friendly and the two dogs dropped by every now and then. The hummingbirds on the patio were so cute and the most beautiful scenery awaited us every sunrise and sunset from across the dam. One of the best places we've ever stayed! Thank you, Graham and Shirley.
Awesome view over the dam and mountains! Open spaces! Peaceful! Birdsong! Comfortable! Fresh air! Great hospitality!
Crags Cottage satisfied al our needs. Country hospitality. The magnificent view over the farms and mountains does wonders for the soul. Nice long weekend with lot's to do in the Midlands. Close enough to Nottingham Road and other attractions.
If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle and just experience some calm... you can do it here. Very friendly welcome and nice chat. The view is wonderful and if you want to be close to nature it is here. Thank you very much, it was delicious. Will definitely come again.
The house has a beautiful view of the dam. It's quiet, with lots of birds in the trees and it's a nice break from the city. There are many interesting places to visit in the area.
We would recommend Crags Cottage anytime. The location is fantastic and the cottage is comfortably furnished, wonderfully cozy in cold weather and the view fantastic! The fireplace was a great treat and made the place wonderfully warm.
