Although I had been to Critchley Hackle on a few previous occasions, it was always for either dinner or lunch and not to stay over. The accommodation and grounds are immaculate, and we enjoyed a few days of absolute serenity, even though our stay included New Year's Eve. An absolute joy and one I would definitely recommend, should you be looking for a quiet getaway, surrounded by luxury and serenity.
Unfortunately we could only spend one night at Critchley Hackle. The stay at Critchley Hackle was exceptional in one of the units overlooking the pond. The unit itself was very neat and comfortable and looks newly redone. There is a fireplace in the unit we used. Excellent setting with beautiful gardens, pond and good security.
Stay was wonderful, as always. A little disappointed in the cleaning services - dishes not all washed.

Critchley Hackle is beautiful, luxury accommodation within easy walking distance of the town. Since it rained all week, the hearth was definitely the highlight of the unit. The resort's gardens are beautiful, and guests' comfort and privacy are respected. We had one meal at the restaurant and were impressed with the food. All facilities at Critchley Hackle are well maintained and tidy.

During our departure, I forgot an item in the room. Karin went to great lengths to package the item and keep me informed when the courier picked it up. Very good personal service and went the extra mile. An asset for sure.

Critchley Hackle is a beautiful, clean and safe lodge. The ideal getaway from the city's noise.
Slept well, had a great time and would recommend to anyone needing a quick getaway. Electricity was a problem though. Beurtkrag lasted all weekend. With the price, one would think that there would be power for the chalets, but it was only allowed in the restaurant. In summary, it was still very enjoyable.

Unit was neat. Royal Blue's photos just need to be updated on the website. The outside where the garden set is, all that long grass stuff needs to be pulled out. The whole world is full of seeds of that stuff and we couldn't sit there. Other than that, no problem.
My only negative comment was the spa - not up to standard by any means. But the rest was phenomenal. I just booked an extra week! The town is a little treasure chest full of discoveries and then the peace of sitting around the pond with your tired body, a fire in the fireplace and an incredible meal in the Trout Lake Restaurant.

Karin is a manager of a thousand. The place is neat, the unit met more than all our expectations, you can see that everything is done here to the fullest. The restaurant owner, Von, and also his staff are extremely professional and the food is 5-star. Well done you guys, you deserve all the accolades.

They did repairs on the curtains in the coffee room on Sunday morning which should have been done over a weekend when it might be quieter.

Unfortunately, the drawer and cupboard door of the small kitchen were broken in the unit. It was quite awkward. The price of the accommodation is not cheap, so I feel that everything must be perfectly maintained.
Service was very friendly, but think they are over priced. A bit outdated. It was disappointing that they don't clean the rooms unless you ask for it. We stayed in Tower 1, when we inquired about WiFi they informed us that the WiFi could not be picked up to our rooms.

It was very nice and cozy, but maintenance is definitely needed in certain places, e.g. inside the restaurant, on the site, existing construction/extensions must be made safe especially if there are children (extensions around the pool) and inside the cottage/chalet.
Stayed over after a game reserve holiday on the way to Cape Town. The welcome was super friendly, helpful and the rooms were beautiful. Beautiful, peaceful atmosphere and I could enjoy fly-fishing again. Would definitely recommend it and would stay here again.
The place is beautiful and peaceful with large rooms. The service was very good. The receptionist went the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable in the cold. Breakfast on the veranda was delicious with a beautiful view over the ponds with the baby ducks.
