Our family spent 10 days at Crooked Tree Lodge over the December holiday period. The accommodation was perfect and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Helen gave us a separate unit consisting of three bedrooms and a lounge, kitchen dining area. Each bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom. We enjoyed making use of the pool area and swimming with Helen's dogs. The unit was spotless and the staff who attended to the daily servicing were extremely friendly, kind and helpful. The beach is close by and although we could have walked we elected to drive.
We were received very kindly and the owner was very willing to be adaptable in relation to our needs. The place is spacious and has a small kitchen with a stove and a dining table. The stoep is small, but has a nice view. I would recommend it to anyone.

My husband and I stayed at Crooked Tree Cottage for a few days before Christmas. We had a wonderful stay! The photos are very accurate. It completely met our expectations. The self-catering unit we stayed in (no. 5) is very nice and intimate - with a king-size bed, TV, DStv, air conditioning, a small table to eat at, and a nice veranda with a nice view of the sea and the surrounding Umhlanga. The kitchenette has a small fridge, kettle, two-plate stove and all the basics you need to make breakfast, and even simple dinners. They also offered to bring us a braai if we needed one. Helen and her husband were very helpful and friendly, there was even milk, coffee, tea and breakfast porridge available for us in the unit. We also had fun swimming in the pool at the guest house, the water was delicious, and there are changing chairs and a place to hang out by the pool too. The bathroom has a spacious shower, and there is a mirror close to an electrical point inside the closet. There is also a hairdryer and a safe in the unit. The location is very good, you are 5 minutes drive from Gateway, and from the beach. We had a really nice stay, and can really recommend the place!
Have enjoyed my stay. A bit far from the beaches - have to drive, but this won't stop me from staying at Crooked Tree Cottage again. People are friendly and helpful.

All of the bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and are fitted with a shower basin and toilet. All of the rooms have their own Smart TV with Netflix, YouTube and Openview. There is a Smart Tv with Netflix and YouTube in the lounge. Free high speed Wi-Fi is available throughout. The cottage has its own entrance, a deck area and small garden area. There are sea views from most rooms as well as the lounge. There is a swimming pool for guests to use, and the cottage is serviced daily, except for public holidays.

Additionally, the studios have kitchenettes which are well equipped with a bar fridge or a fridge-freezer, a microwave, and a 2-plate induction stove.
When the guest rooms are booked together as one cottage, the guests will have access to a well-equipped kitchen and a spacious dining and lounge area opening onto a sea-facing balcony. There is a deck area with seating at the entrance to the cottage with braai facilities available on request. All guests have access to a communal swimming pool.
Crooked Tree is ideally suited for self-catering holiday's during peak seasons, but is also perfect as a stop-and-go for a short trip or a business trip. The sea views from the balconies are magnificent and the bird life is amazing to watch. Vervet monkeys are almost daily visitors and the occasional woolly necked storks can be spotted in the branches of the trees.
Oceans Mall is 1km away and Gateway Theatre of Shopping is 2 km away. Durban CBD and ICC are about 17 km away. Umhlanga New Town Centre and the La Lucia Ridge office park are nearby, and the accommodation is close to both the M4 and the N2 highways making access to Durban and the rest of KZN extremely efficient.
