"If you don't like back to the farm days and cannot go without your phone/computer, you wasting your time."

The hosts (Hannecke and Chris) are very interesting people. Chris (owner) knows his geology and takes you on a one of a kind scenery route not many will ever see. Hannecke (owner) is one of a kind. Friendly, makes nice coffee and always there to assist no matter when. The area is something different from Augrabies. Its farm life. Basics. Gas, solar power but no plugs and limited signal (MTN works best at certain spots). But Hannecke does have a plan up her sleeve for that. The farm is close to Augrabies waterfall, Kakamas for a day outing in town and getting a KFC burger. But let's get down to the realistic life on the farm. 1) No need to lock all your belongings in the house when driving around 2) Yes, there are snakes and scorpions. We saw a small adder the first morning after we arrived. Chris removed a puff-adder from our stoep the evening after we left. If you keep the house doors close there is no problem. Always safety so look around and do the "under the bed, duvet and pillows" before you go to sleep. Remember. Cold requires warmth for reptilians. Advisable to bring your EPIPEN and Antihistamine with if you allergic to bees (not that there are any). 3) depending on what vehicle you drive 4x4 is required in certain areas especially the riverine. 4) Don't drive over animals, drive out of a spoor or damage nature (logic). 5) Ask Chris about the old mines. 6) Depending how many travels you about to undertake in the farm I took with 40 litres of fuel just in case. Kakamas is about an hour's drive away and Augrabies 40 minutes (due to dirt roads from farm to main road turn off at Blouputs). You have to see Riemvasmaak natural warm springs and swim in them. Visit Augrabies and try the nice spare ribs... be careful of the Baboons. Otherwise enjoy it. Felt like I was at my aunt's farm when I was young. You surely appreciate what you have and put things in perspective. PS: We had our 8 year old with and she wasn't bored one second.
