22 guests' feedbackWe had a wonderful time in spite of cold, wet weather. Our host was superb, friendly and helpful. The cottage was comfortable and cozy. We had some marvelous hikes and showed us the location of some special finds on the reserve. Can't recommend this more highly.
We had a very nice stay. The walk on the farm, the tranquility and peacefulness is a wonderful experience. Will go back again anytime. Thank you very much for your hospitality.
We will be back. A great place and a great host.
Enjoyed a lot. Nice place. Dead silent. Beautiful nature. Terribly cuckolded.
Beautiful and peaceful surroundings. Quick booking. Friendly host. Characterful accommodation that met needs.
Exceptional location. Ideal to escape from urban hustle and bustle.
Enjoyed the stay, having been there 45 years ago. Almost a previous lifetime ago. It is expensive for what you get.
The accommodation was adequate for our needs, the indoor braai being a necessary bonus. The only negative is that the mattresses desperately need to be replaced as they are terribly uncomfortable. A nice sheltered veranda to sit on would also have been appreciated.
Good place to be off the grid.
Mountain with beautiful views, sea, valleys, gorges and distant Table Mountain in the background. Very cozy accommodation.
Stayed in Aristea, 6 people. Lovely views from the balcony of St Helena Bay and Dwarskersbos and below the owner's house. From the house you can go on self hiking trails as their is no specific hiking route. Except for the farm road that after a kilometer or two comes to a security gate. If you happy with quietness and no splash pool or aircon/fan then you will adapt well. En-suite toilet roll holder and maybe a folded braai grid and having the fridge switched on a day before arrival would be pleasant. Also note you are told to take your refuse and drop off in town on your way out. Owner should maybe just attend to some details. The pillows provided are not adequate and kitchen round table tilts to one side as we experienced our cooldrink bottles taking a dive at one stage so decided not to use it further on our stay. Otherwise a place to go and experience yourself.
Nice peaceful quiet environment. Nicely spent in natural beauty.
Walking into the cabin, a cosy fire was lit. Sounds of nature surrounded us, no crazy technology or the frenzy of people - just nature and the most beautiful views anyone can ask for. This is exactly what we wanted - to get away from it all. An adventure! From the beautiful Nguni cattle, to the baboons calling each other, amazing bird sightings and absolutely stunning fauna and flora - we could fully immerse ourselves in it all. A private family-friendly getaway. What I loved most about our stay is that we had everything we needed. We were asked in advance to bring our own bedding, towels and wood as the shops are not just around the corner. Special permission was given for our small dog, very well leash-trained and socialised. We could get there with a regular vehicle. Nice hot showers. Cosy farm atmosphere. Very happy travellers indeed. Thank you to our amazing hosts!
Incredible sunset, peaceful nature in a safe farm environment with exceptional views and enough space to walk peacefully among the fynbos. Different accommodation options available, book according to your need and preference.
Great location, rustic but everything you need. Owner was friendly and helpful. Had a great time, will definitely go again!
We really enjoyed the tranquility and nature. The bald eagles, bushman drawings and incredible views are a big bonus.
Uncle Danie was very friendly and gave us a lot of space for our romantic time away. The cottage was simple but had exactly what we needed. If you are looking for a quiet getaway where you can go for a walk, see some wild animals (we saw Ibex, wild rabbits, many birds of prey, baboons and more) and seek some peace and quiet where no one can find you, this is the place for you.
The setting and remote position were unbeatable. However, for the price I expected a much better maintained and well rounded place. The bedding, towels, dish towels and loose carpets are not up to standard at all. The geyser was leaking and the water would not heat up. Totally overpriced for very basic amenities. Might add that the owner offered us an extra night at half price - which was still too expensive.
The place wasn't very neat and there was dust on the walls. There was a broken corrugated iron sheet in the braai inside to catch the ash. At that price one would expect that linen and towels are included, but had to pay extra for it.
Daniel is the epitome of the genial host, but went even further by giving my husband a 'regmaker' for his upset stomach. Our son, two little granddaughters and ourselves, walked and climbed over the amazing rocky terrain, gazing in awe at the stunning scenery we encountered at every ascent. Our granddaughters especially loved making friends with the calf, Blommie, and Tombe, the gentle Ridgeback dog. Daniel, justifiably proud of his mountain empire, drove us to out of the way places and regaled us with many interesting tales of life in die Hoogtes. We all thoroughly enjoyed our weekend and came home refreshed by the peace and pure air of DanielsHoogte.
Almost want to keep it a secret because there are few places left where you can break away from everything and everyone and find the camp for yourself. The location is fantastic and we had a Spotted Eared Owl with us in the cave on the first afternoon. Beautiful. The campsite was also very neat and the showers and toilets were very clean. Definitely going to visit there again. Owner was also very helpful and friendly.
We stayed at Daniels Heights, just outside of Aurora, for four days. Up the mountain, hidden from the noise of the city. Nice cottage with amazing views: just the right place to relax. Will definitely come back!
