Very helpful and friendly owner. Someone who goes the extra mile for guests. This is already my second time staying there and it will be my no. 1 choice in Winburg. Value for money, safe and clean.
The owner went to drop off his guest at the Citybug and called to see if he was safe. The guest house is very comfortable.
Booking was completed quickly, friendly service. Nice place.

Not a place I would recommend to friends. Everything is old and shabby and cheaply furnished, for the cost it's probably what you should expect.
Water is lukewarm and only warm the next morning. The one coffee cup needs to be replaced (dark hole in cup). Was just a little worried about the security.
Not very pleasant. Needs a serious and urgent upgrade. Does not mean that the town is old, the mattresses, pillows, curtains and bedding must be too. You want to rest after a long day on the road, not in discomfort. It smelled stuffy. Would not recommend. We opted to leave and head home and not sleep there.
Terrible! The worst place we have ever stayed. Cannot recommend at all, we slept on top of the bed and used our own blanket, just rather sleep in your vehicle. Horrible place. We got there late and went to have a few drinks at the local pub (around 7pm), the lady called me and said we can't be long because they were closing. Everything is old, poorly maintained and just horrid. Don't go there.

The buildings are in a sorry state of repair. Major upgrade is needed.
The owner was not around when we arrived. Photos are much more attractive than what the room really looks like. The paint is peeling and lots of cracks in the walls.
I guess you get what you pay for. Pay very little and you're going to be disappointed as we did and were.
A lot of TLC needed to perk it up. The mattress on the third bed in the bedroom was shockingly bad to say the least. What happened to German pride of neatness and beauty. Please lose the toilet ensemble, it just does not fit. Sorry about the negative.
Well located. Lots to see in the historic town.
Cute rooms. Kitchen just not tidy in that there are no cupboards with doors, just a shelf with a curtain. The breakware etc. is old, doesn't fit together and looks like it came out of someone's house. We grilled meat that night and there was no bowl to put the cooked meat in. Furthermore, we were very satisfied.
The place is ideal for an overnight stay. The unit was spacious, but the place really needs a good cleaning. The containers, kettle etc. felt a bit sticky. Furthermore, the unit needs a new toilet seat.
We traveled from the Cape and arrived late. We struggled to get food (a meal) after 6pm in town.
We were three in the group and it was an okay stay for the night - we managed. Old and rustic house and furnishings. We were comfortable and managed a good rest for the night before the onward journey.
The beds are old and uncomfortable and there was no breakfast as advertised and paid for.
We were pleasantly surprised with the friendly reception and hospitality. Brunhilde and her daughter received us and even stored the breakfast in the fridge. This is a very cute guest house!
We were a group of 4 adults, 3 children, 3 small dogs, 3 tow vehicles and 3 trailers. Danke Shön was willing to accommodate us and provided comfortable and safe accommodation for the night. We booked two units and although not luxurious they were very functional and met all our needs. It was as advertised with comfortable beds, the necessary kitchen facilities and bathrooms with hot water. It was very hot, but the fans helped make it more bearable. Persons who prefer a 5-star or luxurious place should rather book a hotel or similar place because Danke Schön offers the basic necessary facilities and not luxury. The owner was away on leave and the person who was supposed to receive us was not there when we arrived. So we had to wait a while before we got help. We were able to park safely behind locking gates very close to where we slept, which made things a lot easier with the luggage we had to unload and load for the night.
Apartment has enough space for 3 guests. There is an electric blanket and heater. It's very cute that breakfast - bread, eggs, bacon, etc. provided to make own breakfast. Well equipped kitchen. Separate bathroom. Point of positive criticism: a new coat of paint would be welcome.

The reception was friendly and the unit had everything needed for the overnight stay and also to be able to make our dinner. The breakfast was generous and we just had to cook it ourselves.
The facility is already a bit tired and needs serious maintenance, bathroom very cramped and poorly finished. Main area floor tiles broken and loose from concrete base. Bed and linen 5 out of 10. Headlight shade missing.
Neat and clean unit. The size of the fridge is excellent. Was able to freeze all my ice bricks for the next day's trip. The breakfast is a definite winner.
This was sufficient in our opinion. We were surprised by the breakfast left for us in the fridge. It was convenient. One should not expect modern extravagant facilities, but everything and more was there. All kitchen facilities were available. The trees and tranquility were especially nice for weary travelers. Maybe just mosquito killers can be placed somewhere as we didn't have any with us.
No problem with nice landlady - she offered to let us use a guest room kitchen while we camped, and didn't charge anything extra.

Old sheets and blankets, toilet door can't close, toilet brush dirty and around urine, everything poor.

Absolutely horrendous. Dirty room. Just about everything was broken. Almost got shocked on the broken heater. Appalling bathroom facilities. Had to make our own breakfast! Terrible decor. Cold rooms!
My husband and I spent the night there on our way to Lowveld in December. It was well appointed for what we needed. Neat and clean.
The room was very hot with no air-con. Linen smell was unbearable. Milk was not fresh and bread was stale.Owners weren't around, left one guy with no customer care.
