We stayed overnight en route to family in the Hemel and Aarde Valley, and we would do it again as it was a lovely peaceful place to stop over.
Well received, food was also very tasty. So peacefully we fell asleep for the first time in 20 years!
Breakfast was amazing.
Although I had a nice stay, there was a problem with the room. I bought a deluxe room for extra space, but upon check-in we were put in a standard room. There was no deluxe room available, which was quite upsetting. There was also no attempt at a discount. So I don't know if I will go there again. For the price, the breakfast was ok. We did not have dinner in the hotel, but were instead directed to a restaurant in town which would remain open until 20h00. For a hotel it is not good enough. The service from the staff was very friendly, and the room and bathroom were clean.
It was a nice stay. It would be nice if the menu had more variety.
We booked in the Cottage. Garden on the way to cottage must please. being cut open, our vehicle had difficulty going in and out. Rooms were nice and tidy. Maybe put warm blankets on the beds. Was terribly cold. Thank you very much for small heater that was in room. We ate at the restaurant. Food was fantastic! Springbok Carpaccio!

Wonderful renovation of old Riversdale. Everything very nice and lovely, but sorry that internet was so weak in such an upmarket facility.
The breakfast was wonderful! The croissants melt in your mouth - outstanding! The French lady who served us was great! She even packed us some padkos with 2 bottles of mineral water! The two small problems we encountered in the room were quickly resolved - thank you very much! The luxury room does not have electric blankets, but a hot water bottle is provided as well as a heater. So we slept soundly and didn't get cold!

The cook made us his favourite meal, "Lamb Kleftiko". It was incredibly tasty and a must. Just remember to order it 4 days before your arrival.
Beautiful "compound" of old buildings with garden and seats in the middle. Secure parking behind locked gate. Delicious food, generous portions. The buildings are very old and have been beautifully restored, or simply kept as they were - nostalgic, because they remind you of grandmothers and grandfathers and their farmhouses! The rooms are comfortable, and we have the old-fashioned furniture, baths, etc. appreciate. Much cozier than clinical modern buildings.
We had a great stay in this beautiful place. Everything was perfect, including the staff and the delicious breakfast.
The guesthouse is a beautiful, old house, very well looked after. The bed was great, everything you need is in the room, except for shampoo. The food and service in the evening was fantastic, wine was delicious. The service in the morning was a bit slow and food good. The hospitality was very warm. I'd definitely go back if I'm in the area again.
We enjoyed it so much. The place is very neat and the staff are very friendly. The food was top notch.
The accommodation was nice and comfortable, but the restaurant was simply poor. We waited over 2 hours for dinner, and were then asked if we would be willing to accept a wrong order! This, after being asked earlier how done I prefer my chicken!
De Doornkraal Boutique Hotel was one of the best overnight units where we spent the last night on holiday in December 2015 - definitely recommend it. Likewise the restaurant - delicious and tasty dishes served.
We very quickly received an email from the hotel with proof of booking. The cook also emailed us a menu. The service was excellent! We have never eaten and socialized so well. We ordered the Arni Kleftiko. "By prior appointment - 24 hours notice. Chef Peppas prepares this traditional slow roasted Greek lamb using a whole square cut shoulder. Served on a platter to table with Ya Ya's Patates, veg in season, pita breads and tzatziki. Serves four to six. " De Doornkraal Boutique Hotel will definitely see you again!
Chef Chistopher is amazing. At no point did we feel like just another guest in a hotel. He went out of his way to make our stay special and very comfortable. His food was fantastic and the personal attention to small "detail" remarkable. Definitely a gem of a hotel and we would definitely recommend it. All staff were friendly and even when we had special requests, someone was always there to help.
Accommodation was top notch. The people at De Doornkraal Boutique Hotel are friendly and very hospitable. Food is truly some of the tastiest plates I've ever eaten. Would recommend anyone to stay there.
De Doornkraal is a cute little place that will definitely appeal to those who like something authentic and somewhat romantic. We booked two nights bed and breakfast but actually saw little of the area as we spent most of the time at a rugby tournament in Oakdale. The staff are very friendly and do their very best to please you. The breakfast and dinner we enjoyed there were top notch and the chef is top notch.
The staff were very helpful and professional. The restaurant's variety of meals and wine was impressive and the chef was an absolute pleasure to do the wine tour with. Thank you very much!

Surprising place to stay. Riversdal surprised me. The old part of town, where De Doornkraal is located, is beautiful and clean, as is the guest house, which is beautifully restored and well managed.
