We had a very nice weekend, having no electricity was very nice for us, we could switch off from the everyday noise and busy life. There is enough to get by, a gas stove, we just took it extra lightly, other than that we can't complain, will definitely go back again.

From the first moment we were welcomed very warmly at De Kraal. Meiring showed us around and offered us a welcoming ice cold beer, which was so appreciated by our road weary souls. We were so taken by the place we re-arranged some plans to stay an extra night. The place is really lovely, quaint and functional - and for tented accommodation it has every amenity you could possibly require, with attention to details. It was an awesome pit stop and I would definitely recommend a stay!

This is the ideal place to relax. It was camping at its best and the host and hostess went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. It was a wonderful experience to be able to stay in nature like this. Will definitely stay there again.

We really enjoyed our stay. The braai area made us excited. We enjoyed the atmosphere and to be able to relax outside.

We found De Kraal very relaxing, peaceful and, on a level, quiet. It was quite refreshing to be in accommodation that used only battery and/or solar power and gas. The cell phone charging system was especially clever. If we had one complaint it would be the road noise. Not a big issue, but still audible for both vehicles and pedestrians. We will, however, most certainly consider De Kraal when in Oudtshoorn again.

De Kraal Tent Accommodation was a welcome surprise since it was our first experience of "tented" accommodation. The place is well appointed with everything you will need. Unfortunately there was no plug for a hairdryer, so my hairstyle was the only thing that wasn't great. The accommodation was lovely and the view over the farm is stunning. We really enjoyed the stay and the owners are very friendly.

Guys, this one you should "skip" if you are not a "happy camper". Everything was not bad, but there is one common kitchen for both tents which is quite dirty (full of dust). The tents are only rented to one group as I understand it. It's a dirt surface towards the kitchen and pure mud when it rains (of course it doesn't always rain). It rains into the tents (if it rains hard) and there is nothing (like a mop) to clean the tent with. The lights in the tent are a little dim. The owners' dogs jumped into the car upon arrival and pooped (peeed) in the car. There is then only one round table that one cannot move. So it is wet in the mornings and for the rest of the time the sun is troublesome. There was an umbrella tied to the table, which the wind blew over and the umbrella broke, and the umbrella was not replaced. Even with the umbrella, the sun was troublesome, because one cannot move the umbrella. The fact that there is no power is hidden quite well and we only noticed it at number 99. There was too little furniture and I would have liked to see chairs on the deck (of which there was one very sacred chair). The owners are friendly and helpful and often offered fresh bed linen and towels. The gas geyser ran out of gas at one point, but was quickly replaced. The bedding was clean and nice and there are plenty of warm blankets. At no point did we feel unsafe, but there are no safety aids and you tend to lock your valuables in the car. Of course, a tent cannot close. The venue might be more for the "backpacker" or younger generation... Definitely not for the "faint-hearted". It's also very close to a busy road which might be a bit noisy if you go to bed early. It gets nice and quiet later in the evening. I wouldn't recommend that one.

My teenage son and I spent the night there on Friday and Saturday, as he took part in a mountain bike race there on Saturday. Breathtaking view of farms and mountains. Owners were very helpful and friendly, probably because I was there as a woman alone with my son. A lot of extra attention was given to our needs. Safe environment. I would recommend it to anyone and I would go again myself.

I would recommend De Kraal anytime. It's peaceful, quiet and the view is breathtaking. We will definitely go back again.

The bedding was clean but the kitchen cupboard was dusty. Cloths and dishcloth were dirty. Braai was full of ash. My husband had to clean it first before we could grill. The hot water bags were very cute! Would have liked more lighting. Maybe a lamp for each tent and more for the kitchen area and table. We were not prepared for camping without electricity. Maybe you can provide head torches or just warn guests to bring their own torches etc.
