331 guests' feedbackThank you very much for a clean room with genuine Karoo hospitality. Our hostess received us as if we were family. Karoo blessings.
We had a wonderful stay at De Oude Pastorie. The hostess made us feel very much at home. Everything is clean and tidy.
Yes - very pleasant stop.
We were received very kindly and quickly felt at home. Perfect overnight accommodation between Johannesburg and Cape Town. Real genuine Rural accommodation as we know it from our grandparents.
Very nice stay!
It was a pleasant stay. Nice warm beds.
It was a wonderful experience and a very nice environment. We loved the atmosphere and the welcome was a "you're at home".
It was very nice. I would recommend it anytime. The landlady can tell you a lot about the old parsonage's history and even about the town.
I had a great stay, thank you very much. I was received kindly and everything was right and tidy. I left at 6 o'clock the next morning and the hostess got up earlier to bring me lukewarm water to defrost the frosted windows of my car. I didn't take advantage of the meals, but the menu was available and looked delicious.
Very nice please. Good space.
Good value for money.
We had a very nice stay. Real Karoo people.
I love staying over at De Oude Pastorie Gastehuis, the welcome always makes you feel at home immediately and the owners are absolutely wonderful people.
Lots of space, tranquility, cleanliness, friendliness, comfortable!
We had a lovely welcome and our hostess was very accommodating to our needs. Very nice stay, good value for money.
Price shown completely adequate for overnight stay.
Very nice stay, value for money.
We had a wonderful stay and visit at the De Oude Pastorie Gastehuis. It is the oldest house in Victoria West and they have transformed the historic building into a veritable loop court and home for travellers.
Beautiful place with a very helpful hostess and also follow up personally to see if we had a good stay and have any feedback. Owners are very proud of their place and they can be.
We had a very nice stay. Just what we need when we come to the show.
Ideal overnight stay, just a lot of mosquitos, but it happens.
Just take mosquito gear for loadshedding period otherwise fan works perfectly.
Perfect stopover from JNB to Cape Town.
Beautiful old house within walking distance to the main street. Lovely hosts who could not do more for me. Great breakfast and conversation. Will stay here when I pass this way again.
Beautifully neat. Just a bit small for 3 people.
Place was clean and tidy.
Had a great sleep during the long journey back from the Cape. Nice and quiet, there is no traffic noise in the area. Basically everything we needed. Thank you very much.
Lovely stay and great hospitality! We literally needed an overnight room and everything was provided for that purpose. One recommendation though, there were a lot of mosquitoes. I would really recommend the establishment to better equip the rooms to keep the mosquitoes at bay.
Very nice overnight place. Hostess very helpful and friendly. Would just like to have a microwave in the room to heat food.
I had a very nice stay, thank you.
Very nice. Beautiful old original floors and doors. Simple old fashioned charm.
Elize is a friendly and considerate hostess.
We had a very nice stay.
Very central. Park in front of your room for easy access. Clean. No TV, no WiFi; however, I would have expected at least WiFi.
Quite satisfying and a warm welcome. One night stay - was okay. Just no TV.
Reasonable. There were 2 friends drinking on the premises. One of them talked to a lady on his cell phone for probably an hour after 10 p.m., almost right in front of our shuttered door. They also got up noisily early in the morning.
We were warmly welcomed; however, the accommodation was very basic and not very comfortable. Fortunately, it was only an overnight stay.
So so. Have nothing more to say.
It is very good value for money, but I would strongly recommend a small bar fridge in the rooms.
It was very nice and peaceful.
The room for the month of December was nice and cool, even though there was no air conditioning.
Value for money, clean accommodation.
Our stay was really pleasant, and our host regaled us with wonderful stories about the history of the town.
First visit to Victoria West. Residents go to great lengths to accommodate tourists. Ka'roux restaurant to recommend.
Those were the days of the great storms. I was on my motorcycle through these storms on my way home. The De Oude Pastorie Gastehuis was a safe haven for me in the storm. Hot shower, warm bed at a reasonable price. Very nice old house.
The Ka Roux restaurant in town makes very good food.
We stayed over on one of the coldest nights in July. We slept nice and warm as each bed had an electric blanket.
Room was clean and tidy, hostess friendly and helpful.
Definitely recommendable for an overnight stay on the way to the Cape. Friendly hostess and clean and tidy facilities.
We had a nice stay.
Thanks for everything. My mother and I felt safe and secure. Would recommend to anyone.
Friendly reception.
The reception was so friendly. Arrived late at night and was received so kindly. You arrive there as a stranger and feel like old friends when you drive away.
Very neat place. Friendly reception and everything was comfortable and in order.
Had dinner one night and it was delicious. Very neat and clean, everything you need is in the room.
Overnight stay with supper included, lovely room, nice place!
We spent the night here on our route back to Cape Town. Was very clean and tidy and good value for money.
We slept over between the Cape and North West. The bedrooms were tidy and it was a very peaceful environment.
We slept very well. The hostess is very friendly and hospitable.
The oldest house in Victoria West, from the 19th century, has been lovingly looked after, and I enjoyed the comfort, cleanliness, and convenience of my room. And the silence at night. I slept undisturbed. The room is of adequate size with two beds, a shower, and a toilet. I didn't have any meals, but my host did keep my food and drink in their fridge overnight.
If you want an authentic experience in the oldest building in town, this is the place! The host Elize was very attentive and helpful and went out of her way to make us feel welcome. We enjoyed the Karoo hospitality.
Friendly service, nice patio.
The hostess was very friendly and helpful.
We had a wonderful stay. It was already the third time that we stayed there.
Perfect for an overnight stay between PE and Bloemhof. Friendly reception, very helpful.
We had a wonderful stay in this old house, with its plank floors.
Ideal overnight for the main routes between Johannesburg and Cape Town.
Would appreciate a small fridge in the room to keep your own personal drinks/snacks cold. Also a power point by the coffee table would be handy. Furthermore, the overnight experience in the old 1800's house was an interesting experience.
Prepared for loadshedding. Very friendly hostess. It was a nice stayover. I would just recommend a TV in the room.
Very neat place with friendly staff and good location.
Very peaceful place to stay.
Hostess very friendly, everything very tidy and a great time.
We enjoyed the stay very much. Thank you very much.
Victoria West was the perfect location between my start point and finish point.
The environment takes one back to the 1800s in SA. The guest house fits in well with this.
Will visit again anytime. Beautiful place. Beautiful people.
It was wonderful to stay in such an historic home and have a true Karoo experience.
Safe, tidy place to stay between Gauteng and the Cape. Electric blanket for those who are not used to Karoo cold, wonderful hospitality and delicious farm food to order!
Quiet, peaceful place with an old-fashioned look, the private entrance with the porch creates a peaceful atmosphere.
Remarkable residence and hostess knows a lot of history of the vicarage and surroundings.
Have stayed there 5 times, and always nice to visit there, owners always hospitable, and friendly would recommend it to the whole world with great love.
Comfortable guest room. Delicious farm food.
The personal service is great. Will stay there again.
Reception was friendly and accompanied by nice conversation. It feels like you are at home in your grandmother's house. The best breakfast was optional and worth every penny. Room was very spacious. Nice porch to sit on in the evenings. Area is very safe.
The nice lady was always just a phone call away and the charming room 3 was lovely. Even mosquito nets were on hand for the mosquitoes. Will use again and can recommend.
Everything was clean and tidy. Good for overnight.
Was pleasantly surprised and was kindly received. The accommodation is very neat and met all my requirements. Hostess made me feel very welcome and car was placed safely. Quiet surroundings with beautiful Karoo feel. Would definitely recommend to everyone and would definitely stay here again.
Nice stop over. Old fashion rooms with wooden floors, etc.
This was our third time.
Accommodation was very neat and comfortable. Everything spotless and beautiful! Very interesting house that takes you back in time. Most beautiful antiques. Hostess is very friendly, warm and engaging. We will D.V. would definitely like to visit again!
Was as expected. Nice stay.
We had a nice stay, felt safe and at home. All amenities mentioned were available and of good quality. It's a pity that there is no bar fridge in the room (not advertised), but freezing facilities are available in the house. Elize is a very pleasant hostess.
Very friendly people.
The people were very friendly.
Bedroom and bathroom was clean and tidy. The house itself seems to have a lot of history. We had started our journey a bit late, so the fact that their check in time is up until 22:00 was a great help.
The guest house was perfect for us. Our host was most friendly and made our stay very pleasant.
Quiet and peaceful environment.
Host lady and gentleman very friendly and kind. Everything was clean and tidy. Had a lovely breakfast. Will definitely stay there again.
Neat, comfortable rooms in the oldest house in Victoria West. You can feel the history. Elize is a friendly host with a lot of knowledge about the old town.
The rooms are not self-catering and breakfast and meals can be arranged. There is a kettle, coffee/tea and milk and real biscuits.
I was well rested after a tiring journey.
Friendly service. Maybe just put DStv in the rooms.
We were treated kindly. The people are very pleasant and helpful. It's our 3rd time staying there and we are completely satisfied.
It's a very convenient place for a stopover if travelling to the Cape. The place is clean, very friendly people and good service. I can definitely recommend the place.
Easy too find, friendly and helpful service. Beautiful view of the mountain. In short, for overnight stay, excellent.
Beautiful old-world, rich historical guest house with the friendliest hostess in the Karoo. The rooms were very neat, beautiful appearance and equipped with clean bathroom facilities and coffee/tea station. The guest house's breakfast package is really to be recommended - put together with care, e.g. home-baked buns, sausage, eggs, piece of fruit cake.
Hospitable reception. Clean and tidy room.
De Oude Pastorie has a beautiful history and is the oldest house in the town. They met my requirements and are affordable. Very secure parking.
Had a good time and slept over, the hostess was very accommodating. We were there on level 4 and the restaurants only had takeout. Fortunately, we were able to get a nice plate of food to eat at De Oude Pastorie.
The extra little things like a piece of biscuit that is put in your room and also dinner and packed lunches also stand out for me.
Will definitely stay there again. The hostess spared no effort and even made provisions to keep food warm if we were to be late.
Friendly reception, peaceful environment. Neat room with accommodation. Well slept and rested.
Lovely stay with friendly service. Hostess very helpful with sights and history of De Oude Pastorie.
Friendly reception by hostess. Neat clean room with private entrance to the outside. Slept comfortably. Shower head a little low for tall people, also a bit small.
When you walk into Oude Pastorie you experience a spirit of care and love. Will also tell others about Oude Pastorie and about the tranquility there. Many thanks to Ronnie and his dear wife for showing us their heart. Can only say God is good.
The guesthouse has so much character. Beautifully clean and tidy. Very quiet environment, we slept great. Hostess is so friendly and goes out of her way to make your stay unforgettable. Biscuit was a delicious treat. Will stay here again.
Would love a small fridge and utensils (maybe microwave) in the room.
We only slept over on our way back from the North Cape.
Go out of their way to make you feel at home. Highly recommend.
The remarkable historic residence charms.
Value for money definitely. It's clean and tidy and the hostess's hospitality makes you feel right at home.
Very friendly service. Hostess is great. Can definitely recommend De Oude Pastorie.
Hospitably received. Pleasant hostess.
Unique accommodation in a museum. Real Boer hospitality.
Cold winter evening, but nice and warm bed, thank you also for a delicious breakfast.
Geat stay, lovely place.
Friendly reception and everything was explained, safe parking. The mattress was very comfortable and the electric blanket was a winner in the cold. Will stay there again if we go past there again.
Nice country food dinner.
Used the guest house as overnight facilities.
So many antiques, floor and door frames of yellow wood. It's an absolutely beautiful house, well taken care of. The surroundings themselves, the town's old houses, are breathtaking if you like history. Feel free to visit the town and house.
Friendly service and value for money.
Beautiful old building and Elize is very friendly and helpful. We will come again!
Accommodation very clean, hostess very friendly and helpful.
The best decision was to spend the night there and venture the long way home early the next morning.
Tranquil accommodation. Friendly reception.
Very quiet, would recommend it to anyone.
The hostess is very friendly and the facilities clean, comfortable and homely. Absolutely a pleasure to stay there.
It was clean and very safe. People are very friendly and warm.
Offers genuine Karoo hospitality and tranquility. Neat and clean room.
The hostess went out of her way to store my perishables in her freezer and refrigerator. Thankful and recommended!
That's all you need for an overnight stay on the way to the Cape or back. Very friendly welcome. Cute little town.
Neat and clean. Friendly host, peaceful environment.
Pleasant, affordable, clean venue for overnight
Genuine Karoo hospitality! Can recommend it.
Interesting antiques in the dining room.
The friendly dog and climbing frame were a bonus to get rid of the children's energy after the long journey. Uncle Rhonnie and Aunt Elize were very hospitable and were willing to meet all our needs.
Rooms are neat and clean. The decor matches the old building. However, the creaking of the plank floors is disturbing for light sleepers. The fan in room is small and the power cord too short to make a real impact in the room. The beds are very comfortable. Overall a pleasant sleepover experience.
This is the third time we have spent the night there and can recommend it.
Almost no signal there. Was grateful for a safe place to sleep on the way to Cape Town from Mpumalanga. They were doing restorations inside. Dusty. We slept in porch room and there was no direct access to the vehicle in the backyard. Have to wake the hostess to open the front door to walk through the house. Beds are very old, but room and bedding very clean and tidy. Hostess very friendly.
The only thing we didn't like was that the bathroom is not private enough, it was just separated from the room with a curtain, a door would definitely have been welcome. Breakfast was also a bit expensive.
We were kindly received and made to feel at home. The room was neat and comfortable and clean. It's a place with character and the owner is very friendly and makes you feel at home. Highly recommended.
Thank you very much, we had a great stay, can really only give positive feedback. Would love to stay there again in the future.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, our hostess and friends did everything to get us home and make us feel at home. The people of Victoria West are great.
Advertisement says accommodation includes breakfast, that's not the case.
Cute place. Friendly service. Good amenities.
We will definitely stay there again. We didn't book in advance for meals because we weren't sure what time we would get there and left very early the next morning, but came across a cute take-away place that could help us out, because we didn't have a chance saw for a restaurant after the long journey. It was a surprise to realize that the town closes after 13h00, but we got everything we needed. Thanks again for a very nice overnight stay.
Very old house, with very interesting historical background. We were generously received and rested quite well. Negative: Our bed still has the old thin wire base on which the mattress rests. The wire makes noise when you turn around and then we are both awake. Food: Food was freshly prepared, but the quantity for the price was excessively high.
After a long journey it is a welcome stopover for us.
Think it would only be good if it was mandatory that photos had to be updated annually. Think that air cooling in the Karoo should be a requirement for overnight accommodation.
Room is very small, only 1 light which is weak, extremely hot without ventilation, fan is insufficient and beds are uncomfortable. Lots of mosquitoes and no mosquito repellent.
I would never ever stay here again. The pics here does not even look like the same place. When I complained about the temperature of the room the owner said "What do you expect? It's winter." No heater, not bottled water. The water out of the tap was brackis and in the morning it is frozen solid, so no shower! Worst place ever.
It was wonderful to experience the vintage nature of the house and town. Hostess very helpful, went out of her way to serve my grandson's dinner. Will definitely stay there again.
Nicely restored parsonage that offers safe and clean overnight facilities. Very nice and friendly hostess.
It is a very interesting place to visit and the theater's history was special and to eat there with peace.
See stars.
Thank you very much for a wonderful night's rest. Very friendly welcome. Can't fault anything, will definitely use this historic gem again.
See stars.
We were welcomed as if we had been friends for years. Everything was perfect. Definitely the place to stay overnight. I would stay here again and again and recommend it.
I definitely recommend it, really affordable, clean and tidy. Just a pity the bathroom has a curtain and not a door.
Quiet, tidy, friendly.
Friendly hostess, clean and tidy room with comfortable beds in a peaceful quiet environment.
Staff was friendly and hospitable.
It was a special and unique experience. Can highly recommend it!
The owner received and accommodated us very kindly. Will stay there again!
I experience the peacefulness and safety of the Karoo again. There's no place in our country that feels like the Karoo. Thank you for a warm welcome and your friendliness.
We booked the night of July 20, not knowing that the mercury would drop to minus 6 degrees that night. But we slept well with electric blankets on each bed. We will book again if we drive that direction again.
We just slept over at the guesthouse, we were away most of the day, but a very good welcome, warm bed with electric blanket, hot water to shower and a cup of coffee with rusks in the morning was a winner. Thank you.
A quiet place with good service.
Had a great time in Victoria West. Owner is very knowledgeable about the area and enjoyed the countryside. Guest house is walking distance from town center and beautiful old buildings can be seen everywhere. De Oude Pastorie Gastehuis offered everything we needed.
De Oude Pastorie is a very pleasant experience for people like me who cherish the "old days" and for whom the Karoo holds a special charm.
We arrived late, but arranged in advance for late check-in. Kindly received. Room big and neat, thank you. House is still very well kept for its age, I like that it is still kept original and not modernized either, thank you.
Very tranquil and quiet, even the shops and cafe is closed on Sundays. Very friendly and hospitable people.
The hostess received us kindly, how about a small fridge in the room?
See stars.
It is really affordable and the place is safe, also my car was parked in a security area.
We were warmly welcomed and enjoyed the quiet street. Could even park car outside the door. Left charger and yet the owner called before we left the town. Excellent.
It was just nice and good. Very good overnight guesthouse.
Goed vir oorslaap. Lekker geslaap.
Recommendations of what to see and where to eat would have been nice. GPS can tell where restaurants are, but you don't know how the food tastes.
Would recommend it for a stopover on the way to the Cape. No longer than one night. Can get very hot. Air conditioning in the room would be an asset.
Upon arrival greeted by cleaner and then the hostess. Bed uncomfortable and check out time in brochure is 09:30 and not 10:00 as per website.
We additionally booked dinner, at R140 per head it wasn't worth it or tasty at all, would definitely not recommend it to anyone. There was no water to shower. The room door locks with a lock from the outside, but the room cannot lock from the inside.
Beautiful quiet surroundings, friendly and hospitable service, safe parking and a good night's sleep.
Would recommend to friends for sleepovers.
De Oude Pastorie is one of those rare gems sometimes encountered: high quality accommodation at a very good price. The rooms are well-equipped with everything you might need - even an electric mosquito repellent to ensure you can enjoy an undisturbed nightmare. Unlike many other guesthouses, the meals are prepared by the hostess Elize. This is not a self-catering place, but the food is of excellent quality and extremely well prepared. We will definitely stay here again when the opportunity arises and the N12 Route over Kimberley is a pleasure to drive. Nice road and much less trucks than on the N1. Please consider using De Oude Pastorie during your next road trip between Cape Town and Johannesburg, you will not be disappointed.
We were in a group of three and we slept over and ate dinner and breakfast. Our hostess received us very kindly. If I had to sleep in Victoria-Wes again, I would definitely come here again.
Received very hospitably and everything was very tidy.
Reception was very nice and people were very friendly.
It has everything you need to overnight and it feels like a home in the Karoo as you stop there.
Good value for money. Friendly service. Will recommend for a night.
We could've arrange for a light dinner beforehand, but also had the choice of ordering a full meal as well. It is ideal in a small town, especially when you arrive late and all the shops are already closed. The next morning we had a delicious breakfast with freshly baked bread and to top it all off we could order food to take along with us on the road. Homemade bobotie, a sandwich with leg of pork and other delicious little things. This is what I call a good time for one night's stay in the middle of the Karoo.
Great place to stay that doesn't cost you an arm and a leg. Comfortable, clean and safe. Will definitely stay there again.
The location makes it the ideal place to stay overnight for those who travel from the north to the south of the country. There's also 2 good restaurants walking distance from here.
The reception was warm and hearing the history of the old parsonage was nice. We had a lovely overnight stay in the oldest house in Victoria West. Really highly recommend for travelers.
The Oude Pastorie is pet friendly and we appreciated that a lot.
It was the second time we stayed over en will them again in the future.
Definitely recommend De Oude Pastorie.
Will use them again as I often travel to Jo'burg for work with co-workers. It is affordable and value for money.
The hostess received us kindly and told us all the features of De Oude Pastorie. After we left we forgot items there which she held out for us so we could pick them up again on our return trip.
Very quiet and peaceful environment. Friendly welcome and helpful.
The house has old world charm. Very pleasant stay and friendly hostess. Will definitely stay there again.
It was a handy place to interrupt our route between Kempton Park and Worcester.
Generally very hospitable and all good, neat and clean. Possible improvement is heater in room for winter. We couldn't keep the kettle always boiling either, but at least the water was hot enough for coffee.
We were very tired after a long day and were kindly received by the hostess and slept well.
We were kindly received. Everything was as expected and paid for. As a half-way stop, this is exactly what you need. Quiet and peaceful. Beautiful old house with wooden floors and old world atmosphere. We ordered the lamb dinner and were not disappointed. We would easily stay there again.
Spacious rooms. Centrally located. Friendly welcome from owner. Very reliable staff. We forgot my son's shoes and found them on our way back.
Lovely stay in the historic place. Very quiet and peaceful with all the necessary amenities.
Friendly service.
We were received kindly and the room was tidy. The exterior of the building is either neglected or under maintenance, but we didn't feel comfortable checking in.
Everything was clean and tidy. The hostess was warm and friendly. The bed creaks a little, but we slept well.
Happy with choice of accommodation.
De Oude Pastorie's rates are really fair. However, the beds and furniture are a little tired and some new pieces of furniture would do wonders.
Overnight facilities ideal for one night for two single travelers with further dinner as requested and held for late arrival as well as take away breakfast pack for early departure.
Hospitable and helpful. Clean and tidy.
Travelers who want to barbecue may be better catered for if they sleep over.
Ouwêreldse-sjarme. Daar kan miskien net TV's in die kamers gesit word.
Friendly and efficient service with clean and comfortable facilities.
Had a great sleep at De Oude Pastorie and good value for money. Hostess was very friendly and helpful and would recommend them anytime.
Slept for one night, in very cold conditions, in Victoria West. The guesthouse has some old house charm and character.
The rooms are very neat and nicely laid out, it is believed to be the oldest house in Victoria West but we were not allowed to move through the house and observe. Friends of ours also wanted to see the house but were treated badly when we wanted to show them inside.
Although the accommodation (room amenities) corresponds to what is advertised - and it is also priced accordingly (appropriate price) - we will not stay there again. For the simple reason that the guest house owner was unfriendly and also made us feel unwelcome. It says in the overview that there is a braai place - and yes we are aware that it is not a self-catering place. But when we wanted to barbecue she was very annoyed. It was a lot of trouble for her to provide us with 5 plates/cutlery as well as 5 glasses. As I mentioned above - we are aware that this is not self-care - but then you should use the term "fire place" instead. Because braai place indicates that there may be braai. As for the rooms - they were neat and clean. One of the rooms' taps dripped all night and then had no water the next morning either. I will also mention like other guests before us - that the doors cannot be locked very well from the inside. Even if you are in Victoria West - one must take into account that for your guest it is still a strange environment.
Was an absolute pleasure! Had a good time, ate and listened to stories!
My husband and I spent one night here. The room is very clean and tidy. The guest house is beautiful inside and still has real wood floors. We also enjoyed a nice breakfast before we left the guest house. However, one suggestion to consider is to perhaps install a water tank.
What a lovely, peaceful and pleasant experience. The silence and peacefulness are like ointment for the mind. Hostess very friendly and went out of her way to make us feel welcome. Thank you very much.
Unfortunately, I found out too late that Elize also cooks delicious dinners, but hope to try out the food here next time. (Wasn't very impressed with the restaurant dinner in town.) Very comfortable, tidy, clean and beautiful accommodation. Attention is paid to detail and it is always nice for me to 'come home' here. Thank you Rhonnie and Elize!
It was nice and clean and safe. Very friendly people.
Elise is just wonderful! Beautiful old place and restored to its old glory. Warm, welcoming. Slept like a baby. So safe! Wonderful food and just overall good for the soul!
Ideal overnight stay with spacious rooms. Very nice breakfast and dinner. Definitely recommended.
Elize is very friendly and helpful. I'll stay there again, quiet of the Karoo is enchanting.
Great place. Neat and very hospitable.
Directions very good, will go back.
The house is in a quiet, safe area.
Even though we only arrived at 9 in the evening, the doors were still open, the lights were on and the hostess very friendly. We felt at home. The information booklet in the room had interesting info about the guesthouse. Rusks in a bowl for us to enjoyed with our morning coffee made us feel welcome.
I traveled with my elderly mother. Our reception was very warm and welcoming. The location is historic, nostalgic, peaceful and beautiful. The hostess is accommodating and warm. Will definitely use De Oude Pastorie again for an overnight stay and can recommend it.
Friendly service and very neat accommodation.
Warm welcome (despite the fact that the owner didn't take note of our booking) and the accommodation was a peaceful Karoo experience.
We had a lovely stay there. Owner is a beautiful person. Room and bathroom nice and clean. Will definitely stay there again.
See the ratings.
Rooms are neat, nice front porch where you can sit and relax. Friendly reception.
Thanks so much for the friendly reception, they waited for us late in the evening. Will be back.
Friendly reception and the room was very clean and neat. Only issue is that you have to watch TV in the lounge. After a long day you want to get into bed and relax before you fall asleep.
Everything was spotless and neat. The hostess was friendly and helpful.
Everything was beautiful and perfectly clean and an effort was made to provide freezing facilities.

Would recommend anyone to stay there and would go back myself. Thank you De Oude Pastorie Gastehuis for the nice stay.
Wonderful overnight accommodation in Victoria-Wes. Good location close to hotel where we enjoyed delicious dinner. Very neat rooms and has everything you need for overnight accommodation.
Everything you need for an overnight stop available. Very good value for your money.
Good value for money if one doesn't want 5-star luxury. Cost of dinner (R130) is a bit high for the size of portions (especially meat), but very flavorfully prepared.
Very friendly service and a pleasant accommodation option!
Typical guest house experience without television in the room. A television room is available which must be shared with other guests.
Neat accommodation and the facilities are nice and clean and the rate is really fair. It's a good option for an overnight stay when you're traveling and don't need too many frills.
Will not stay there for more than 1 night. Reception was very friendly and warm.
The back of the house puts you off a bit. We saw the house from the back for the first time and immediately thought, wow what have we let ourselves in for. Then we happily got to the front door and were surprised and relieved at what we saw. Hostess received us kindly. House is the oldest in town, but the room is ready for a one night sleepover. Everything is there that one needs for one evening. We had to sit in the TV room and watch TV which is a bit uncomfortable. After a long day of driving, one wants to lie in bed and relax with a TV session. Otherwise it was quite pleasant. The evening was cold with the rain, but luckily there was an electric blanket on the bed. I didn't damage the paint on the walls with my bike. Thank you very much for the evening in Victoria West.
Value for money, but does need some renovation work on rooms and locks on rooms. Water pumps in town don't always work, no storage tank at guest house and couldn't shower after we got there after a 7 hour trip. Breakfast hopelessly too little for money.
When I wanted to take a shower at 19:00, there was no water. Now we all know such things happen and I don't have a problem with that. Which I do have a problem with, when Paul went to ask what was wrong with the water, we had to hear that they had already had problems since the Thursday (we were there on Saturday). I feel, upon arrival they should have told us about it. I was soaking wet with ice cold water when the water just stopped. We then literally got a milk container full of water from the hostess with which we had to bathe, brush our teeth, make a hot water bag and also drink coffee? This was unacceptable to us. Apart from that, as already said, the place is very neat and very beautiful. Only wish our hostess had told us about the water problem on arrival so we could have bought a 5 liter can of water. Then there would have been no dissatisfaction.
No water and we couldn't lock the room's outside door from inside.
We had a very pleasant stay at De Oude Pastorie. Hosts are very friendly, the room excellent. Will definitely visit again.

Neat and clean. Warm welcome.
I highly recommend their quiet, tranquil and hospitable guest house - it's the place to stay!
Our hosts are warm and friendly people, we were treated like family. Dinner and breakfast was delicious. Our room was nice and cosy as well as clean. Would stay over again, or even a few days to explore the town and surroundings.
Overnight destination on our trip. Was the ideal place. Calm and able to sleep well before we continued the journey. Very hospitable place.
We were warmly received and had such a nice chat with the owner. We arrived very late but they waited for us and made sure everything was ok - just the way we wanted it. Thank you very much. We will go back and explore the village a bit and read all the history of Die Oude Pastorie - our time was too short!
The oldest house in town. Take you back to a time without any other houses. Old school porch rooms with high ceilings. Elize is a friendly and hospitable host whom puts in a lot of effort for guests.
Great facility. Friendly, helpful, effective couple makes sure you have a wonderful stay. Stunning decor and homely atmosphere, wish we could have extended our stay.
Quaint gues house with clean rooms, friendly host and safe parking. Ideal stop-over on the way to the Cape.
Very homely and clean. Will absolutely use the accommodation again.
Upon arrival, everything was ready and tidy. Our hostess immediately welcomed us into this beautiful 19th century residence. Elize, keep it up! We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others. It's truly a neat and clean town.
A friendly greeting on arrival from Elise. Comfortable room for my daughter and I for a sleepover on our way back to Pretoria. Good breakfast before we headed on our way.
It was like our last time very pleasant. With great service.
Nothing to complain about. Had a nice stay and enjoyed a good dinner. Will come again.
Clean, tidy, quiet and just very nice. The hostess is truly a woman of a thousand.
The room was well prepared. Fan worked great and was cool. Thank you for the hospitality and nice reception. Could watch DSTV and just walk the whole town flat.
Elize makes you feel very welcome. The restaurant on Victoria West is not open on Sunday evenings - but she made a plan and served us a delicious 2-course meal. We slept warm and well - exactly what one needs on the long road.
Highly recommend TVs in rooms.
The room was clean and spacious. The place was easy to find. The owners were not there on the weekend, so they did not offer meals. They let us know well in advance that the town's restaurant is closed on Sundays. But it has the ability to put one in a difficult position, where one does not have kitchen facilities, nor does one have other possibilities for hot food. Because they let us know, we could pack meatballs and other kinds of cold food, but it would have helped if there was a self-catering facility where we could cook on a Sunday night when the owners don't offer food themselves. I do have to say the place is cute, and I can recommend it.
Warm welcome. Room was neat and comfortably equipped. Staff very helpful. Overnight stay was pleasant.
The booking was very easy and the communication effective. The cost of accommodation was reasonable and this for beautiful rooms with the atmosphere of an almost lost era. Elize and Rhonnie are people-people, caring people and make you feel at home as if with family. The breakfast was delicious and almost too much. If I travel north by car again, I would like to spend the night there again.
See stars for more information.
Had a great stay, great food and excellent hospitality.
We were received warmly. House is very neat and clean. I loved the history and character of the place. we had a lovely visit on the front veranda in spite of the biting winter cold. Definitely value for money, will stay there again.
It was -3 in Victoria West and De Oude Pastorie supplied electric blankets. Exactly what my mother, a pensionary needed for the cold. The next morning Tannie Elise supplied water to get rid of the frost on our car. The rooms were neat. Exactly what you need on your way to Gauteng.
Peaceful, homely, affordable.
Very friendly, hospitable people with wonderful family room that walks out onto patio of guest house. We really enjoyed our stay.
An affordable stay room in a historic and interesting old place, but preferably not during a heat wave! The beautiful old wooden floors creak in an old-fashioned way that creates a "own" nostalgic atmosphere (if you know it). Rooms are very basic, but neat and comfortable for one night's stay and in heatwave conditions (as just experienced) very hot. Friendly service, tasty meals (dinner and breakfast which must be arranged with reservation and are not included in the standard price).
Basic accommodation but for the price good value for money, in the oldest building in town.
Friendly, neat and clean. There was only coffee, tea bags would have been nice.
Neat room and bathroom with good, relaxing location. Friendly hosts.
Had a great stay with great people. Highly recommended.
Nice venue for a overnight visit. Will remember it in the future.
Karoo hospitality at its best! Dinner was delicious, room clean as well as bedding. Would definitely recommend.
I have stayed here many times and booked through LekkeSlaap for the first time. This was my last time using Oude Pastorie Gastehuis. The night my partner wanted to take a shower there was no water in the cold water tap, it appeared that the pump had been switched off. The owners are no longer as friendly as in previous years.
No shade or shaded parking available. On asking for safe parking for my motorcycle, somewhere I could lock it up, the owner was quite clearly upset and had me understand that nothing had disappeared from there in 15 years he had owned the property. When I commented to one of the other guests about the lovely dinner we had enjoyed at another place, the owner irritatedly commented that I should rather go and book there then. I would definitely not recommend this place to my motorcycle buddies. Surely in the 15 years you've stayed there, you could've put up some shaded parking for you guests.
I understand the host's circumstances on our arrival, but she could definitely have been more friendly.
Elize was very pleasant and we had a very comfortable stay.
Hostess is very friendly and helpful.
De Oude Pastorie is one of those places that reminds you of your grandparents' farmhouse. There is hospitality, antique furniture, plank floors, shuttered windows, but with the luxury of power.
Our hostess waited for us and warmly welcomed us. She made sure we had everything we needed for the night. Everything was spotless and we had a great night's rest. Our host got up very early in the morning to see us off and help us. This place is a guest house as close to one's own home.
The people are incredibly hospitable and I would stay there again anytime.
Neat and clean. Would recommend it to those who like historic buildings and their history.
Outstanding. A must for overnight and a quick visit.
A pleasant stay that breaks up a long journey.
They should consider air-conditioning for summer and charge a bit more. Directions from main intersection could be more detailed - especially as most people arrive late afternoon after long drive! Otherwise a stunning place!
Beautiful old house.
It is a clean and tidy. Elize and Ronnie went out of their way to accommodate us as we were leaving very early and they didn't mind getting up for us and unlocking the gates where our vehicle was safe for the night.
The house is the oldest in the town, from before 1850, and tastefully restored with the original facade unchanged. The rooms all open onto the front porch with double doors and shutters. There are no windows, at night you close the shutters for privacy but keep the doors open for fresh air. Room 3 is huge, with a large and comfortable bed for two plus an antique cot. The bathroom in a corner was added later. Its ventilation is the room itself, so the partitions do not go up to the ceiling. There is no TV or air conditioning, but at under R400 for the whole room, you wouldn't expect that either. A TV is available in the common lounge next door. A small table provides a kettle with tea, coffee and two delicious home-baked biscuits. If I had known that our hostess was the VLV chairman, then we would have booked dinner with her in advance. The town's only restaurant is 15 minutes on foot, just close enough that you think the walk will do you good.
Beautiful historical place. Friendly owners.
Would have appreciated a double bed though.
Coffee station is a bit small/impractical. Other than that, no problems. Friendly and efficient reception.
It was very nice to sleep over there. Very friendly people and a very cute guest house.
The breakfast is additional and it's too expensive for what you get.
Beautifully restored with a friendly young lady who helped us. However, the security gate behind which cars are parked is not unlocked until 07:00 the next morning. Not convenient if you want to drive early the next morning. The other alternative is to leave your vehicle outside in the street.
The venue was marginal, the shower was blocked, the hosts were uncomfortable.
Very peaceful, comfortable and the dinner was delicious.
See the stars below.
If you need time to ponder or rethink your life, this is the place to go. Peaceful and quiet, no tv's in the rooms. Wide open spaces, friendly service and it seems like time stands still...
