It was brief as we had to attend a family funeral.

Unfortunately chose the wrong room. Directly next to the restaurant, kitchen and entrance. Know it was the 14th of February and the restaurant was busy. Warn prospective guests in advance. Get no rest.
Very pleasant. A bit noisy on Friday nights. The mat next to the bed, close to the door, has something sharp in it. Otherwise, lovely stay. I was grateful for the extra hour for check-out time on Sunday.
The service from De Vreugd was excellent. Samantha from De Vreugd went the extra mile and delivered the keys to me at the hospital when I arrived from Durban to see my daughter in ICU. She also checked in on me via WhatsApp. The accommodation was great. My only uncertainty was as a female on my own there I just felt a bit vulnerable and isolated at night, as there was no one around after the restaurant closed.
Place was nicely furnished, bed and pillows were good quality and slept great. Thank you very much.
The room is spacious and the bathroom is clean. The bed and bedding are soft and clean. We slept great there. It has a small fridge which was a bonus for our soft drinks and fruit. The cook went an extra mile to accommodate our diet. We enjoyed a delicious vegetarian breakfast which was included in the price. The fact that the restaurant is on the same premises was a plus. We enjoyed our other meals there as well. I only had a problem with the stairs going up to the room, but it won't bother other guests. My husband is visually impaired and the stairs were difficult for him. Thank you very much for your hospitality.
Room is big and spacious. Very neat. One wall borders a bar where people smoke and hang out until late. Another wall borders the restaurant's kitchen where people work until late. Room smelled of old smoke upon arrival. Visitors to the bar pass directly under the bathroom window. No fresh drinking water available. Had to draw water for the kettle in the bathroom. No hand soap as advertised.
It was perfect for what I was looking for. It is also a restaurant, so convenient for food and drink. The only thing I would have liked is free WiFi, but all in all, good value for money.

Very comfortable and close to Eugene Marais hospital. Aircon is a winner in the heat wave.
Their service is good and very neat and the food is very tasty and cheap.
Everyone was very helpful and friendly. Loadshedding was not a problem at all.

If you want to stay with ordinary people, this is the place. Down to earth hospitality from staff with warm hearts.
Would only recommend for place to wash cups and such, no plate or cutlery to eat out, paid full price every day but only had enough coffee, milk and sugar for 1st day, no cleaning of room in 4 days, had to washing cups in sink in bathroom. The security man was very friendly and helpful, thank you very much. Very nice and nice room.
