The cottages each contain a bedroom, a shower en suite, a kitchen, and a covered patio area. Both the house and the cottages are fully furnished and fitted with all necessary utensils.
The establishment is fully walled with a 2 m brick wall, and has a motorized gate and shade parking. Come and enjoy the clean air and tranquility. Wheel chair friendly
We offer another house and a cottage (called PaSeHuys and Rooiberg Cottage) - the property has been renovated with a new bathroom and kitchen. PaSeHuys comprises of 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a kitchen, a lounge and dining room, a braai area and secure parking. Rooiberg Cottage has a double and a single with separate bathroom (shower , toilet and basin).
PaSeHuys and the Rooiberg Cottage is situated at a separate address but still walking distance from the House.
Our facilities can house 17 persons.

Ideal for staying over for a night or two. Kitchen is well equipped. The host and hostess are very welcoming and everything is painstakingly neat and clean. The toilet is just a bit cramped and quite close to the bedroom.
The accommodation is equipped with everything needed. The air conditioner is an absolute blessing in the heat. The town is quiet and well cared for. The owners are very pleasant and it was nice to strike up a conversation with the lady. The two beautiful, friendly shepherd dogs complete the picture.

Wonderful and helpful reception. Use of private braai facilities appreciated. The double bed cottage is okay, but two single bed cottage is very small.
Cottage 1 has a double bed and Cottage 2 has two single beds. The layout in Kothuis 2 is extremely uncomfortable and unpleasant. The toilet is 1 meter (or less) from the bed and the sliding door of the toilet cannot be closed when you use it. There is simply no space. The accommodation was extremely neat and clean.
Calitzdorp and surroundings are worth a visit.
I had a great time at De Wawielhuis, the location is central and the place is clean, tidy and with all facilities. The friendly dogs made my stay extra pleasant and I really appreciated the hospitality. I can recommend De Wawielhuis.

Don't drive past Calitzdorp, sleep over at Wessie and Alta's Wawielhuis! They have neat accommodation with everything you need, and more, and Wessie will light your barbecue fire. You can then just throw the meat on the grill and put it back with a booster in Wessie's well-equipped braai area and turn the grill now and then. We are definitely doing it again soon!
The single unit is neatly equipped with everything needed for a good night's rest. The hosts, Wessie and his wife, warmly welcomed me and made every effort to make me feel comfortable - thank you.
Very neat and clean, with everything one needs for an overnight stay, there was even milk in the fridge. We felt very safe and there was also a carport.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay. We could easily walk to town and shops and the lovely wineries were a short drive away. The accommodation was bigger than we anticipated and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Our car was on the safe side of the property and the host was friendly and helpful.

This is a fantastic little jewel in the Little Karoo. We were very well received and the hosts took time to ensure all our requirements and needs were catered for. They offered up their own braai place for the evening which gave us a wonderful evening to remember around the braai fire. The rooms and accommodation are of a very high standard. Spotlessly clean and very well presented. All the necessary utensils were available and easily located. Secure safe parking next to the cottages. Best of all was the very high quality queen size beds that offered excellent comfort and a good nights sleep.
The host and his spouse received us kindly. A TV will help pass the long evening. If there are catches.
Wessie and Alta welcomed us with open arms, explained everything well and everything was really just cute, clean and nice. We were able to sit on the veranda and cool off with a complimentary bottle of local port. The air conditioning was heavenly and we found everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The place is so nicely dolled up and equipped that I would recommend it to everyone. Our only regret is that we could not stay longer.
Neat, clean homely place, that makes you feel at home and want to kick your feet up.
Everything is very nice and well cared for. In our case, the unit still smelled of paint after it was recently painted. It is a very compact unit and unfortunately the toilet cubicle is so small, you cannot sit there and close the door. Moreover, it opens directly into the bedroom. If the toilet and shower facilities could be changed/improved, this would be a 5 star place to stay, truly!
The house is well located, neat and comfortable. The braai area has a nice veranda and is a lovely social setting. Wessie was very helpful in making our stay as pleasant as possible. Everything that we needed was there.

The Wawielhuis is not at all what we expected! There are e.g. not even silly things like mats in the room, the bed has no headboard and the bedding is hard and old. The gas geyser is not working properly. The one room's window does not close at all and there has clearly been some maintenance done on the place for a long time. On your website you talk about a 2m brick wall and an automatic gate, however, our Ford Ranger was almost standing in the way with its rear, the gates couldn't even close at all. We slept very restlessly because our vehicle was not safe! You ask for star rating above, I don't even want to choose one of them, unfortunately I have to because you require it! Just know that I feel they deserve none of it!
You won't find a better overnight destination or a base to explore the area. Wessie caught on and everything was perfect. Fresh white linen after a long day in the car is all one could ask for! I would recommend De Wawielhuis to anyone, including the Queen of England!

Everything needed was there. The only negative is the toilet that faces directly into the room and there is no space when the sliding door is closed.
