There are 3 bedrooms and the main bedroom is furnished with a double bed, the second bedroom is furnished with twin single beds, and the third bedroom is furnished a bunk bed and a single bed. The unit has 1 bathroom that is fitted with a shower, toilet and a hand basin. The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen with everything that one needs to make their self-catering experience as pleasant and as easy as possible. From a fridge to a microwave, with a 2-plate cooker and oven. There is also a private lapa with all necessary braai utensils available. The living area forms part of the open plan kitchen with ample seating around the built-in fireplace.
Easily accessible, the cottage is right next to the R331 from the main road even by a sedan vehicle, it is the perfect stopover on your way or from the Baviaanskloof. It's serene natural surroundings also make it the perfect weekend getaway from everyday's hustle and bustle.
Enjoy the natural surroundings with a brisk walk in the mountains or among the citrus orchards. Take it easy with a walk on the road that follows the canal, the vein of life to this farming area. Walk down to the river for a swim in the Gamtoos River, a bird watchers paradise and a fisherman's pleasure.

Very nice and peaceful there.
The surroundings are extremely beautiful and it was interesting to see where the oranges and daffodils come from.
The house was neat and the outside braai area was a nice feature. However, the cutlery was dirty and needed to be washed before use, same with the plates. The pans are all beyond use and some have rust and all Teflon has come off. No toaster! Bedding clean and good quality, but the beds are shocking, all matrresses slant or fall in in the middle. Entrance mat inside house was already dirty and muddy upon arrival. Old used pairs of stockings also found in first bedroom, I'm speechless. Maybe more for a young crowd that only drinks, braais and falls over. Also, hardly any water pressure in the shower. Was quite disappointed.
And nice chats with the owner made us feel right at home. Good location if you want to go through the Baviaanskloof. Everything well equipped.

We were received very kindly and the braai place was wonderfully cozy. The house speaks of people with humor, character and stories. Especially enjoyed the bathroom. The citrus orchard's scent was cheerful all around us. Will definitely come again.

Recommend cottage. I suggest that owner pay attention to the safety of the guests. No security gates or burglar bars in front of windows.
This was our second visit to DeMist - Old Bearie, during different times of the year. This is a very cozy, creative guest house. We would only like to suggest that the owners provide ceiling fans or stand-alone fans for each room. It was very hot during our recent stay. One fan was insufficient. The owner only unlocked the accommodation and at one point only called to say she saw we had moved in. A physical visit and meeting would definitely be more appreciated.

We had a wonderful stay and made a very nice fire every night in the Lapa. Johansie, your place is top notch and it was nice to look through a window that was not closed with all kinds of burglar bars.
