74 guests' feedbackFantastic. You can hear the silence. Will definitely go again.
It's a beautiful place with everything you need. Will definitely go again.
Very nice stay. Almost trying to buy the house. Beautiful village and Book Club must be visited. Had a great time with the friendliest people.
What a charming little house in a beautiful town! Although it was a cold weekend, we were cosy and comfortable and had a delightful stay.
Our second stay at Botes Huisie and we will definitely go back.
It was incredibly beautiful.
A cute little house in the middle of a remote village in the Karoo. There's not much to do in the village, but the house is very welcoming to chill and make braais in the evening while bonding with your co-travellers. Also, some of the most memorable stargazing experiences in SA are on offer at night.
We had a great time at the Botes cottage.
Clean and has everything you need, warm blankets helped a lot with the cold! Very clean and peaceful town to relax in.
Merweville has always been on my bucket list. The village did not disappoint and neither did the accommodation. We were only there one night and it was far too short to enjoy everything. We will definitely stay in the Botes Huisie again. The barbecue suits and nice salad and roast from the hostess were now welcome after a long day's drive.
We have always wanted to stay in Merweville and really enjoyed it. There was a hiccup with the key, but luckily it's a small town so everyone knows each other. I know I posted the wrong number but after they emailed me I sent my correct number. We couldn't get hold of the host and the aunt at the coffee shop gave us the cleaner's number who ended up unlocking the house for us. My husband called 3 different numbers. No one answered the number on the gate he dialed.
Incredibly delicious! The Die Botes Huisie is very well furnished and tidy. The optional braai vleis packs are such a winner and value for money.
Perfect overnight stop. Everything you need for a good night's rest after a long journey.
Wonderfully peaceful! Brings you back to the realization of how big God's hand is on the beautiful nature. Merweville will see me again very soon and the Botes Huisie will become my 2nd house.
Would recommend the cottage and Merweville to anyone needing a quiet, no disturbance getaway. Nice clean place to stay in, will stay there again when I come to Merweville.
The Botes Huisie is incredibly good value for your money. You have the whole place/cottage to yourself so it's very private and its location perfect. The place/bedding is also nice and clean and the owners are very friendly and helpful. There is also mostly everything one needs for a self-catering unit. I will definitely want to stay in Die Botes Huisie again in the future.
A jewel of a place where pictures of the place don't do justice to the environment.
What an experience. The tranquility of itself.
The air conditioning during the hot summer evenings is great!
Will definitely go again.
Just a short stay - was very hot because the town had a power problem and you couldn't use the air conditioning. The house has everything you need and we had a great stay.
We had such a good time in Merweville. The Botes Huisie is special. Terribly neat. The owner has thought of everything - mobile phone chargers, games, barbecue facilities. Delicious barbecue package with barbecue buns and salad. The town will see us again soon!
2nd time we sleep there. A true Karoo experience. Nice stargazing, barbecue and socializing.
Lovely place to spend the night. Just one problem, the wooden floors need attention. Crack terrible. Otherwise great.
Cottage was perfect for our family, the kitchen-braai is super cosy!
We enjoyed rural hospitality in a neat, cozy house. Would recommend the Botes Cottage to anyone!
Nice place and had a nice stay. Very peaceful location.
See stars.
Booked the house for my parents to go to a wedding. They were happy with their stay.
Safety was quite an issue. Many found that people just walked in to the yard even though the gate was closed to come and peddle or beg.
Everything was excellent.
Special, peaceful place to sleep with everything you need.
The house exceeded our wildest expectations of the Karoo!
I think I should buy the house. We had such a nice stay. The one night was too little. We should have stayed longer. Neat, clean, everything in place. Peace of mind
Enjoyed Merweville very much and the people in the town were friendly.
Beautiful and neat. Everything you can think of is in the cottage, from air conditioning to lights for "loadshedding". The beds and bedding are of top quality. Would definitely recommend the cottage.
A beautiful, neat little house. A few suggestions: A clothes line outside would be handy. As well as extra hanging space for towels in the bathroom. A bread knife? We couldn't find it.
Spacious, tidy with very well equipped facilities: Complete kitchen, bathroom and electric blankets to soothe the cold. Very friendly and warm reception with interesting stories about the town and surroundings. The two pre-regular barbecue packs with a salad and toast are highly recommended. Since we only stayed one night, we intend to visit Merweville and Die Botes Huisie again next year to properly explore the town and surroundings.
Alida was the perfect hostess. Thank you very much for all your effort.
Friendly reception, accommodation and facilities are very neat.
We had a great time at the Botes cottage. Everything was clean and tidy and there is everything you need for a night's stay, or longer. The cottage has a lovely atmosphere, and is perfectly located. Merweville was a bucket list stop, and it was absolutely worth it!
It is a very comfortable house with everything you need for such a stay. The owner provided wood and braai sets for dinner which was excellent quality. Very friendly service also received.
The cottage has everything you need with an old fashioned charm in a beautiful village.
Very nice, peaceful, relaxing. The beauty and tranquility of the Karoo. A look back at the history of the town. Will visit again.
The Botes House in Merweville is an incredibly nice house for 2 people. It's clean and the people are so friendly. We had a fantastic experience and had such a great time in Merweville. Can highly recommend it to anyone. The location is good and the house is equipped with everything you could need.
Well equipped, very neat and clean.
Very very nice house. Feels like a small town in town. The whole feeling of Die Botes Huisie was awesome. Very beautiful town and breathtaking church.
Wonderful place, love Die Botes Huisie. Air conditioning, sparkling clean with everything one needs. Feel free to order a braai pack or two with nice potato and carrot salad. Recommend the place to anyone and enjoy the town, clean, friendly and just nice.
The cottage was comfortable, everything you needed.
There is a lot to see in Merweville. Will visit again.
Beautiful Karoo village.
Arrangements have been made for keys in advance. Well directed.
The Botes Huisie is truly a nice place to visit. It is peaceful and quiet with a very nice view. In the cold it was lovely to grill meat inside, with lovely barbecue suits which were additionally available for purchase from the hostess. When we arrived late, the open gate as well as the lights burning inside and outside were very welcoming.
The cottage was well equipped and everything worked well.
Interesting town, but wouldn't be able to stay there for more than a night unless you're looking for silence and lots of peace. Shops are limited in the area and one feels a little unsafe.
The Botes Huisie is a characterful place that compliments the atmosphere of Merweville and surroundings. The facilities are excellent and the indoor fire was very handy on a cold November night. The friendly service regarding the arrangements was also of a high standard.
The service we received from our hostess was excellent. Not only could we order a barbecue pack and wood, she even provided us with barbecue salt. We experienced the hospitality of Merweville everywhere we went.
Beautiful little house with a view of the mountains.
Here you can relax in a house that has everything. Will stay longer next time and enjoy the silence.
The Botes Huisie is spotlessly clean and well equipped. It was lovely to stay there - we will definitely visit again!
Beautiful place. Alida is friendly and helpful. Peace for your soul. Would definitely recommend.
Amazing sunset and hospitality. Next time we will stay a week in the beautiful house.
I recommend Die Botes Huisie to anyone!
All our expectations were exceeded with the accommodation. The accommodation was perfect, clean and tidy. Our hostess, Alida went out of her way to make us feel at home. Arranged wood for us and kept us up to date with everything. The bonus was that there were electric blankets. We experienced genuine Karoo hospitality during our visit to Merweville. Can't wait to visit the town again and will definitely stay at the Botes Cottage again.
We were very impressed with the neat house and delicious food we ordered. Exactly as in the photos. And the electric blankets were a bonus in the cold.
Neat and clean accommodation with everything you need. Thank you Alida, I would highly recommend your place. Know where to book if we visit that side again.
A perfect little house. Well equipped, and the dogs could explore safely in the yard.
Very good communication, if was as we requested. Meat and side dishes were a lovely treat, thank you very much.
Had a great time at Merweville, Alida from the Botes house was super helpful and friendly. There was even ice and milk left in the fridge for us. The village and the cottage in particular are definitely worth a visit, I will come back again.
We were pleasantly surprised with the accommodation. It was neat, clean and comfortable. The 2 air conditioners work very well, and are a must in the hot Karoo. The barbecue pack, salads and barbecue sandwiches were delicious, and delivered with real Karoo hospitality. Alida made sure we knew what was going on in Merweville, and where to get what. She was always friendly and willing to help. Tops.
Cute place. Clean, neat. The double bed was old, so it didn't sleep well. There were a lot of mosquitoes. We also picked up fleas. We couldn't leave the doors and windows open because of all the mosquitoes, with the result that we got very, very hot.
Small house on a huge lot, but had everything we needed. The houses were very clean and the beds slept very well.
