I would give this Accommodation 10 Stars!! Besides the cleanliness and affordability, the owner is fabulous!! That's not even mentioning the view and proximity to Main Square! They are also one of the very few places that offer a one-day stay. There are even warm blankets on the beds so winter at Die Kruik is nice and snug. There's place to braai, and even though the owner lives on the premises, one has quite enough privacy to rest and just enjoy the stay! Really really worth staying here!! Highly recommended! We will return to Die Kruik anytime!

The aunt immediately made us feel at home, almost like family. Everything was as advertised. Old, but neat. The use of the old house porch with braai makes it ideal for people who tour and stay together. We will sleep there again.

The reception was very warm and the place very tidy. The view is breathtaking from the room we had. Everything very quiet and tidy and had a very lovely visit. The lady who runs the place for her daughter was very helpful with advice on what to do and where to eat etc. The Portuguese restaurant she referred us to was excellent (not going to mention the name here) and just a piece of advice: Book there in advance otherwise you won't get a place. Will stay at Die Kruik every time in the sequel.

The bathtub was dirty. The pipes rattle when you turn on the hot water tap. The view is very beautiful. The place is not up to standard and the bedding on the double bed had dirty marks on it.
The yard is not user friendly, stairs, high porch without railing. Rooms/kitchen/lounge very small and badly laid out. Kitchen and sitting room seem to me to have been the corridor before. Hot water boiling hot. Hot water pipes vibrate so badly that the corrugated iron roof vibrates with it, a terrible sound at night. Bath takes forever to empty. The building as a whole is poor and needs a lot of work. As mentioned not at all suitable for renting. I got a much better place for cheaper the second night.

Nice stay, quiet and peaceful. My little girl and I were able to do our own thing. Very friendly and hospitable. Missed TV with world cup rugby but that was the least of it. Thank you for a nice stay.

Perfect for guests who only want a place to sleep for one night. The rooms are small, but neat and the view from the main porch very nice. We were there during the winter so we slept wonderfully warm on electric blankets and heaters in each bedroom. If you prefer more space as a guest, Die Kruik may not be for you.

My wife and I spent the night at Die Kruik and were kindly received. The room meets all the requirements as needed. We had a great stay and would recommend it with confidence.
We booked unit 2 (the unit with the shower) but upon arrival we were given unit 1 (the unit without a shower). When we inquired about the unit we were told it was the website's fault (which it wasn't at the time). The room's floors were very dirty and the room very cramped. The bed is also very uncomfortable and could do with a new mattress and bedding. The room could also do with denser curtains.
Suggest that the owner visit other guest houses to see what a guest house looks like. The toilets of an upper room's sounds can all be heard. The decor, linens etc don't even match. The "mildew" can be seen everywhere in the bathroom. Bathroom is uncomfortably small.

The reception and general interaction with the owner was of high quality: friendly, nice conversation, nothing was a problem at the Jug. We can recommend this place, just be aware that people who have trouble getting into a bath should just inquire as our particular unit did not have a shower. A really nice time spent there, we can definitely recommend it.

When you visit Clarens it is to walk around, visit places and eat out. The sleeping and kitchen areas are cramped, but if you don't spend a lot of time there, like us, it doesn't matter at all. This is not a place for vacation. Otherwise very comfortable, clean and friendly.

It was my first experience of Die Kruik and can really recommend it to anyone. One can rest wonderfully, because there is only silence there! The sunrise from bed with a cup of steaming coffee is just the most beautiful.
It is in town, but quiet. You can act as if the whole place belongs to you and have such a nice stay.

No carport. No air conditioning. No shower - only a bath. No cup to rinse hair. Rooms only have a sliding door without windows. Have to leave the door open at night for ventilation, and then mosquitoes come in. Security?! Kitchen and bathroom (toilet space) are impractical. Access to the rooms from the outside is impractical for the elderly - even dangerous when wet. Privacy is not very good.
On our arrival the units were not ready for use, although the accommodation was confirmed by email. There is a dog that barked incessantly all night, with the result that we could get very little rest, peace or sleep.
