He grew up in Beaufort West, and his father was a minister in the Dutch Reformed Church. Beaufort West attractions include the Beaufort West Museum, Christian Barnard Museum, Donkey Cart Tours, and the Karoo Nuweveld 4x4 Trail. Bergplaats Game Reserve is located nearby and offers game viewing, horse-back safaris, and mountain bike trails.

Very cute place, with everything you need. Unfortunately, it just doesn't have a sink to wash dishes. However, the load shedding makes it difficult, but it was still nice to be able to enjoy air conditioning now and then in a very hot Beaufort West. The check-out time was just a little early for us to be out by 09:00. Other than that, everything was perfect. Delicious braai and place to visit.

The quiet overnight accommodation is off the main street and is definitely worth the extra drive. The owners are friendly and helpful and go out of their way to make you feel at home. The DSTV and the warm electric blanket were an added plus for sure.
The host was very thoughtful and paid a lot of attention to what a traveler's will need, like fresh bottled water. Rusk and coffee for when you arrive and had back up power for load shedding. Would definitely recommend if traveling with a trailer as there are plenty, safe parking.

Place very clean and tidy. However, there is nothing in which to heat food in a microwave, or a casserole and tongs if you were to grill. In my opinion, self-care is limited to making coffee.

Excellent service received. Helene and Johan are an excellent hostess and host and went out of their way to assist us with certain challenges. We were caught off guard with our booking which was for a wrong date at Die Kussinkie. Partly our own fault because we didn't notice that the calendar starts on the 2nd day of the week (Monday) and our reservation for the 5th night of the week (Thursday) ended up being the 6th day (Friday). Helene's actions in our situation of need deserve special mention. She not only found alternative accommodation for us and called again later to find out if we were satisfied, but also offered us the opportunity to spend the night at the Kussinkie on our return journey at no further cost! We will definitely sleep in no other place than Die Kussinkie in the future!

I asked for 2 people to sleep, luckily for the double bed my son and I could sleep in the bed together, but later we went out to eat and the man called to say that the 2nd sleeping place is the sofa who needs to move out, no, I wouldn't just sleep over there again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone at all, the dogs across the road bark all night and also it's too far out of town if you just want to go for something get in town or to eat.

We slept there 2 separate nights. With the terrible heat in the Karoo, the air conditioning did just the trick. Clean and tidy. What does change or is lacking is a toilet door that can be fully closed which gives one more privacy. Kitchen laundry facilities will also help, especially for a traveler staying 2 or more consecutive nights.

The place has the cutest name. Located in a quiet residential area away from the busy N1. The silence was refreshing. Would definitely highly recommend it. We were received very kindly by the host. There was enough space for our vehicle and caravan safely in an enclosure with an electric gate. The host guided us through the apartment and explained everything and gave us a gate key if we wanted to go out. Inside, everything was crisp and painfully neat. We sought a safe overnight stay in Beaufort West, away from the nightly heavy vehicle traffic where our car and trailer were safe. We were very kindly received by our hosts even though it was already dark. The accommodation was ideal. Good bedding, good mattress, en-suite bathroom amenities, a fridge, coffee, tea and milk and a TV with every conceivable channel. Ideal overnight stay!
The accommodation is nice and spacious, neat and located in a part of the town that is away from the hustle and bustle of the main street. Overall it was better than I expected and therefore still value for money too.

However, Kussinkie's room(s) are of excellent quality and with fine detailing, the right shelf in the right place, etc. Clean with 5 star sheets and bed. Refrigerator in kitchen/living room welcome for traveler with small amounts of drink/food that needs to stay cool overnight; microwave oven and kettle with coffee, tea, milk, sugar (and sweeteners) and biscuits; thank you! Air conditioner was welcome with 38 degrees outside. The owners are friendly and the reception was pleasant. We travel a lot through Beaufort-West and Kussinkie will definitely see me again on the next trip! As a tourist, I think about the water-scarce environment and use my own towel and leave a message on the towel set that we put aside without using it.

Helpful host, clean and comfortable room with small fridge. Convenient with mirror and wall plug for blow drying hair - unfortunately town's power was off at the time. Even brought us boiling water in a hot water bottle when the power went out. Would have helped if there could have been a generator when the power went out as I couldn't blow dry my hair then.

Good location in Beaufort-West. Peaceful environment and beautiful, clean suburb. Ideal for a stopover between North West and Cape Town. The name "Die Kussinkie" can be more prominent and visible for people visiting it for the first time to find the place from the street. Reception was very friendly and all the necessary information was given. Would visit Die Kussinkie again. Tariff was very affordable. An information pamphlet for all the attractions in Beaufort-West will be handy.

Johan and Heleen are very hospitable, they even let you know if you have forgotten something there. It's really value for money. I was impressed with the beauty and cleanliness of the place. The place can hold a candle to apartments of double the price at the V&A Waterfront. The best "treat" for me was the biscuits and of course those crisp white sheets, you just feel pampered. Die Kussinkie offers excellent, neat, comfortable and clean accommodation for the single traveller, business traveler and couples. However, I experienced the very weak to total absence of a 3G data signal in that part of Beaufort West as frustrating (It's not Die Kussinkie's fault though). A small table with a chair would have been quite welcome to be able to sit and work with a laptop. One can sleep very well on the couch in front of the TV.

I would recommend Kussinkie with great confidence. The host was very hospitable and helpful. Rooms and bathrooms are very spacious and tidy. Only a few smaller aspects that need attention to achieve the expectations of the more sophisticated guests or guests with higher quality service. - The swing doors between room and bathroom are not practical. - The unit should get a small sink in the kitchenette because it is not hygienic to use a face bath to wash cups and plates. - Larger bin is required as self-catering guests are likely to have takeaway containers to dispose of. Alternatively, large rubbish containers can be placed outside by the braai area. - I would also like to suggest that trays are put in rooms as there is not a large enough table surface to eat on. Trays can help keep bedding from getting dirty or protect food on the couch and/or small coffee tables. - Dishcloth is required to wipe plates, cups and cutlery. If the above is provided, it will exceed most guests' expectations. Kussinkie remains highly recommended. Perhaps my expectations are high as we run a four-star guest house ourselves and are aware of what most guests expect.

Accommodation is offered in 3 units with separate entrances. Unit 1 and 2 contains a bedroom with a double bed and a sofa bed, a living area, and a bathroom fitted with a shower. The units are equipped with air-conditioning, a microwave, fridge, kettle, tea, coffee, rusks and DStv. Outdoor braai facilities are also provided for Units 2 and 3. Restaurants and other eateries can be found in the town centre, approximately 2 km from Die Kussinkie, and the Karoo National Park is less than 30 minutes away.
Unit 3 can accommodate families with children or guests who prefer single beds. The unit consists of a bedroom with 2 single beds and a bathroom fitted with a shower.
Beaufort West is one of the few towns the N1 runs through and is the oldest town in the Central Karoo. Famous heart surgeon Professor Chris Barnard is honoured in the local museum. He grew up in Beaufort West, and his father was a minister in the Dutch Reformed Church. Beaufort West attractions include the Beaufort West Museum, Christian Barnard Museum, Donkey Cart Tours, and the Karoo Nuweveld 4x4 Trail. Bergplaats Game Reserve is located nearby and offers game viewing, horse-back safaris, and mountain bike trails.
