209 guests' feedbackVery cute place with very good service and communication. Village is small, but location was excellent with everything within walking distance of the accommodation.
Very, very hospitable and well equipped.
Very nice stay. Cottage is nicely furnished and decorated. Reminds me of my grandmother's house, with beautiful antiques. Also close to all the nice places to eat. Me, my mother and father are very satisfied and had a very nice stay.
We had a wonderful stay in Visvanger. It was a very spacious cottage with large bathrooms and all facilities were great. We will definitely visit again.
It was incredibly fun.
A beautiful artistic place in a picture-perfect environment, with very friendly people.
Friendly staff and comfortable accommodation. Was private enough yet still felt very much part of the town life, which is what we wanted.
Very comfortable and well located.
We wanted to extend our heartfelt thanks for the incredible experience we had during our recent stay at Kabbelrus. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the warm welcome and hospitality extended to us. The accommodations were comfortable and beautifully appointed, providing us with a relaxing and enjoyable retreat. Your attention to detail and commitment to ensuring that we have a memorable stay did not go unnoticed. We truly enjoyed every moment of our stay and cannot wait to return in the future. Thank you for providing us with such a delightful experience.
The characterful atmosphere makes a visitor feel very special. Will definitely want to visit again.
Wonderful place that I highly recommend! Friendly service and everything was just perfect!
We stayed nice and comfortable for 1 night. Everything was clean and tidy.
Beautiful clean and tidy room with antique furniture. The best was the air conditioning that was already in the room when we arrived at 5 in the afternoon with 37 degrees outside.
Place very neat and clean. Also swam a few lengths in the pool, will definitely stay here again if I pass by again.
The self-catering unit is well furnished and very nicely furnished. Everything you need for a nice visit.
Very nice stay, atmosphere is a good combination of a historic building and unique artistic finishes.
Well received, clean and comfortable accommodation, centrally situated.
The house is very neatly and comfortably furnished. Absolutely no complaints. All that bothers is the distance to the main road through the town. The trucks defy rules and make it feel like the unit is vibrating and may be disturbing for light sleepers.
Very cute little house. We had a nice stay.
We went home in the Kabbelrus unit. The second bedroom is slightly away from the master bedroom which should be kept in mind when traveling with young children. The guest house is located on the main road and the sound of trucks during the night can be expected.
The bed was terrible, sunken bath with no shower option, which is not advisable for over 60s.
The accommodation was excellent, very nice and clean. Thanks to the hostess, she is a wonderful hostess and to her team for the nice stay.
The house was very clean and tidy! The hostess was very friendly and everything was ready for our arrival.
Hostess made us feel very welcome. Very tidy and everything we needed for an overnight stay was there.
Friendly, neat, quiet, beautiful setting.
Kabbelrus is very convenient in the main street near all the eateries. This is a lovely place to stay that met all our requirements as touring cyclists. Thank you very much for your hospitality.
Kabbelrus is a great place to stay. I recommend it anytime.
We often sleep over at Kabbelrus. The rooms are perfect for us and the garden and porch are lovely. It's nice to be able to arrive after a day's driving at a place where it feels like you're visiting family. Anmare always goes out of her way to make you feel comfortable and at home. Will definitely be back again!
Very kindly received by Anmarie. The unit was clean and very tidy, well equipped. Would easily stay there again!
Kabbelrus' team's service was excellent!
The place is beautiful with everything you need. Very friendly hostess and staff.
We slept nice and warm. All the amenities one needs were there. Place was very clean and tidy. Will definitely sleep there again when we are in De Rust.
This is our second time staying in this place and we find it very convenient and friendly.
Anmarie the hostess received us excellently. Really had a great time and will definitely stop there again.
We were happily welcomed at Kabbelrus and had a wonderful time with family and friends. Although we only stayed 1 night, we enjoyed it so much that we will definitely stay at Kabbelrus again when we find ourselves in De Rust.
Friendly reception at a lovely clean and tidy place. Wish we could stay longer.
Friendly, clean and just want to be.
De Rust is such a cute "cozy" town and it's so nice to walk up and down the street and look everywhere and look at everything. Kabbelrus is so cozy and you feel super at home there and it's so well equipped and furnished, if you have what you need. It's so beautiful with the splashpool and beautiful garden and the rooms are beautiful and comfortable. We and our dogs enjoyed our holes and had a good barbecue and hung out around the table on the stoep at the braai and when it was cold, cuddled around the table in the kitchen. We will definitely come again. Anmarie also goes out of her way to make you feel welcome and is super friendly. She is always at hand and ready to help.
Beautiful oasis, everything we needed, everything tidy. Plunge pool was great experience. Will stay there again. Very friendly and helpful hostess.
We loved our stay at Kabbelrus. Our only regret is that it was only an overnight stay. One should spend more time in this stunning little town. Kabbelrus offers much more than you could ever ask for.
The kindest, most pleasant people who just crawl into your heart. Very hospitable, helpful. The accommodation was comfortable, very neat and clean. Kabelrus will definitely see us again. The house is so 'charming' and 'cosy'. It's definitely worth it. Meiringspoort is a must - on the way to Kabbelrus. Good location, old world village.
I would definitely love to go back and stay longer. The accommodation is beautiful, clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, with each cottage having its own braai area. Anmarie, the manager, is so friendly and welcoming. such a pleasure to be hosted by her. There was even a beautiful decanter of sherry, as a welcome drink. Beautiful setting too, and right on the main street of De Rust, where you can walk to a restaurant of your choice. very safe. No traffic noise issues at night either, and I am a light sleeper. Thank you, I will be back.
Anmarie received me warmly and checked me in. Houtkapper is large and comfortable and I immediately felt at home. Even with load shedding, which Anmarie informed me about in advance, there was a rechargeable light available. There wasn't a TV, but I wasn't bothered. I had a great shower, slept well and packed early the next day and enjoyed breakfast at the Spekbos restaurant right next door. I can heartily recommend Kabbelrus and would love to stay here again near the indescribably beautiful Meiringspoort.
Friendly reception, staff all friendly, very tidy, unit well equipped, secure parking, beautiful garden, nice patio. Thank you very much, we will definitely visit again and definitely recommend you.
We really enjoyed Kabbelrus. Our unit was clean and had everything we needed. We felt very welcome. Would definitely recommend.
We had a wonderful stay. Had a wonderful New Year's Eve with them and they made us feel so at home among De Rust's people. It was delicious!
We were incredibly warmly received by the host. After vehicle problems on the road, she really went out of her way to accommodate our late arrival. The place is beautiful and centrally located. Herrie's steak across the road was just as delicious.
Very convenient. Friendly host! Very child and puppy friendly.
Just a pity that we only stayed 1 night. We left the next morning with very heavy hearts.
A quiet farm atmosphere in the town. All that bothered were the trucks through the night.
The place was clean and tidy. Had a great time and owner is very helpful.
The house is well equipped with good quality bedding. We were particularly impressed with the braai facilities. Grids, tongs, stands. Everything one needs.
We had a wonderful stay - stylish accommodation with everything you need. Could sit on the porch and enjoy the beautiful garden. Thank you for friendly service and hospitality. We would love to come again.
Anmari is definitely a very good manager who welcomed us with open arms and everything was in place. Had a great stay with such hospitality.
We enjoyed the smaller details of this beautiful and tidy house so much! It is a cheerful little place that has been decorated with passion by the new owners.
Very neat and clean. Friendly and helpful hostess.
Neat and clean rooms (we were in the cottage) and value for money. Annemarie is the nicest person imaginable! Even offered to bring us some of our clothes that we had forgotten over 20km, but didn't want to accept it and just turned around to go get it myself.
Too bad we were not warned in advance that there is no place to eat in town open after 5pm. We had no food with us. Room was spotless, but sunken bathtub quite a problem. How about a shower? Back porch with table looks like a lovely entertaining area.
Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvw.
Kabbelrus is a pleasant place for a stopover between the Western and Eastern Cape. It's clean and quiet, the only quibble I have is that perhaps more attention should be paid to essentials such as soap and shampoo, and less on ornaments and decorations.
Received very hospitably. Great beds and peaceful atmosphere. Exceptionally beautiful decor. Lots of birds.
Sorry there wasn't a shower.
Nice place to stay, owner is very friendly.
We had a nice stay. However, the discussion was problematic but it seems to have been resolved.
N12 traffic noise and neighbour's dogs do pose a noise problem so be prepared.
Very friendly welcome. Was early, but our accommodation was ready. The owner even surprised us with a bite of ostrich neck stew after I commented that it smelled really good.
Beautiful house, nicely furnished. Anmarie is an engaging hostess!
Very friendly welcome, exactly what we needed for the overnight stay on our trip. Clean, tidy and everyone is friendly. The griddle cake was real farmer's business! Thank you guys.
The hostess spared no effort to accommodate us after we had to drive a long way and only arrived after the check-in time. Thank you. Als was perfect and we will tell everyone about this place and recommend it.
We had a wonderful overnight stay and explored the town on foot from the very centrally located house along the main street. The spacious and safe backyard, safe parking, nice sitting patio, and well-equipped self-catering facility were so in our favor and the good night's rest left us fresh for the next day.
The room was beautiful, very nicely decorated, we had a really good night's sleep. De Rust is a beautiful town and very friendly people.
We stayed here on our way back to Cape Town. Was very neat and met all our requirements. The places are all very beautiful and tastefully designed.
It was a pleasant experience.
After a long day on the road Malvahuisie was comfortable, friendly and a welcome oasis. The rooms were neat, well furnished and we slept great. We arrived late and still the staff were friendly and helpful, thank you very much.
Historical character, well furnished, very clean.
Painfully neat and well equipped. Perfectly located to see the town and surroundings. Will definitely want to visit again.
Peaceful people in a picture-perfect town.
Hospitable and wonderful.
We were warmly welcomed by Anmarie the guest house managers. The garden and outdoor living areas are very neat, clean and cared for. Malvahuisie himself captivated me and my husband with the old-time nostalgia he portrays. The table was beautifully set for us on arrival and the cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Will recommend the place in the future and will definitely visit again. The guest house staff and the townspeople are all very friendly and hospitable. Thank you for a very nice sleepover.
We were received very kindly! Units are very neat and well equipped, attention is paid to every detail. Maybe just one suggestion is a mirror by wall plug for a hair dryer. We will definitely be back again!
There is everything you need and so much more. Will definitely stay there again. Very friendly staff.
Very good experience and hospitality.
Exceptionally neat and equipped. Was a very nice experience in a beautiful town!
Malvahusie was the perfect place to break my drive from Graaff-Reinet to the Cape.
Centrally located, neat and clean, perfect overnight stay for travelers.
We had a great time and stayed in Kwikkie. Very clean and creative decorations inside and out. Anmarie welcomed us very kindly and Sophie makes sure that everything is spotless. The restaurant next door, Spekbos, is very accessible, with friendly people, delicious food and reasonable prices. We will definitely visit here again.
We spent 2 nights at Malvahuisie to explore the area a bit. Was received with hospitality and immediately felt at home. A restaurant adjoins the guest house. Will definitely stay there again if we are in the area.
We love the Tuishuise in Cradock and the Lord Milner in Matjiesfontein, places with true old-world charm, furnishings, and "feel". The Malvahuisie was an absolute find for us, so happy. We will return many times.
Had a very friendly and open-hearted reception from Anmarie, thank you! The Malvahuisie is stunning and ideal for two people. Have a nice time here. We stayed more than one night and were able to explore the De Rust/Oudshoorn area well from here. Definitely recommend!
Malvahuisie is a very comfortable place to sleep, exactly what we needed. The staff are very helpful and the children really enjoyed the garden and swimming pool.
Nice getaway place after a long trip.
The booking was made on behalf of a friend, but 6 months later she is still singing about their hospitality.
Can easily recommend.
Only thing is the shower curtain/door needs to get sorted.
Absolutely wonderful stay. Neat, very well equipped, comfortable, clean, secure parking. The service we received from Annmarie and Leanne was excellent. They communicated with us constantly so the whole experience was excellent. I will never drive the N2 again and regardless of where I go, I stay with Malva.
Beautiful old house that has been tastefully done up. Old world feel with all the modern utilities.
Very excited to be able to experience the reality from the picture. Amenities, everything you need to make the break away pleasant. Good reception and support during our visit. Refreshed away there, would love to visit again anytime. Centrally located, close to many attractions.
Good value. Clean, affordable and safe.
Nothing was too much trouble for the hostess, the decor and attention to small treats made you feel very much at home.
We were received very generously and everything was in place. Shame on Eskom for leaving us in the dark for most of the evening. Was also referred to Cafee Rust and visited there for dinner.
Well located and a great overnight stay, can definitely recommend it.
Die Malvahuisie is lovely and quaint. Our reception was very friendly and efficient. The table in the cottage was beautifully set and we were spoilt with a little Easter egg each. Nothing was too much trouble. For light sleepers, it might be a little noisy as it is situated on the main road where trucks pass through during the night. We will visit De Rust again to explore a bit more.
Clean affordable accommodation with friendly service. The WiFi lol as reception seems to be a problem. This may be something that needs attention.
The B&B is on the main road through De Rust with heavy vehicles travelling through the town right through the night. The village should invest in speed bumps or, as in some European villages, ban heavy vehicles from driving through the town during the night. The noisy braking and sound of these vehicles erode the charm of this beautiful village and the accommodation.
The first impression was that it was better than the internet photos. What could have been improved is the following: The gas stove has not been tested that it does work. There was also nothing to light it with. (The problem was quickly resolved). A dish towel to wash dishes with will work better than the sponge and maybe an extra drying cloth. A tea kettle can also be added. Only the bread knife had been really sharp.
Friendly service, neat and clean.
Really enjoyed the overnight stay. Beautiful and exceptional decor and atmosphere.
Very pleasant and peaceful.
I neglected to let it be known that I was towing a caravan and due to the rain we had to make a big detour to get into De Rust which caused us to arrive just before 10pm. Still they waited for us in the street and moved vehicles around to give our caravan a safe place to spend the night. Really went the extra mile to accommodate us.
Anmarie received us very kindly. The overnight stay was comfortable and we really liked the porch. Will definitely stay there again.
We can highly recommend a stay in this beautiful cottage!
When we arrived it was 36 degrees! Fortunately, the residential unit also had air conditioning. Had a wonderful sleepover in the separate house. Extremely well equipped with clear emphasis on detail. Nothing suspended. Parking within premises. Safe. Meiringspoort a stone's throw from De Rust. Thank you very much for the friendly reception. Highly recommended.
Incredibly friendly, clean and tidy. The Malvahuis also accommodated our dog, for which we are very grateful. Thank you very much!
The description and photographs on the website do not do this lovely guest house any justice. We stayed over in the Visvanger self-catering unit - a large two bedroom unit with comfy beds, two bathrooms (one with a shower and one with a bath), a large open plan area with a lounge and fully equipped kitchen. And our dogs also had a small courtyard to use. The gardens are lovely with lush green lawns - not what we expected with the rest of the Karoo being so dry. Always lovely to be greeted with cold milk and water in the fridge, and rusks. The staff at the Rooi Donkie Restaurant (which is part of the guest house) went our of their way to serve us outside the unit under the trees. The food was delicious and extremely well priced. A definite must to visit! Thank you Anmarie for your friendliness and hospitality!
We were welcomed very kindly. We spent the night in the Malvahuisie. It is a beautiful, clean and tidy stand-alone place with everything you need, tea/coffee and even a hairdryer. Kabbelsrus has its own restaurant on site which is nice and comfortable or you have your own braai area if you want to braai. Secure parking on site and it's walking distance to als. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. We will definitely go back.
The Malvahuisie is a lovely, clean and well-maintained place in a beautiful setting. Very good reception and care. Thank you very much!
The place is a hidden piece of paradise. Here you can have a good time and barbecue on the stoep until late at night. The children had fun playing and kicking a ball in the large backyard. Will come again and again!
Friendly, very neat and went out of their way to accommodate special requests.
I recommend this guesthouse with my whole heart. You will not regret booking a stay there. We had a lovely time and made new friends for a lifetime. Thanks Minika and Annemarie for your love and hospitality.
One of the best places we have ever stayed. So comfortable, beautiful, safe and perfect location. Perfect for 2 people and self-catering. Will stay there again for sure. Thanks to a lovely and very friendly hostess.
Ongelooflik smaakvol en keurig. Baie netjies en skoon. Baie bekwame en hulpvaardige bestuurder. Kan met die grootste vrymoedigheid die Malvahuisie aanbeveel! Ons sal beslis weer daar tuisgaan.
Our stay was perfect and exceeded all our expectations. It was nice to show my children such a beautiful town, of which I myself was a resident a few years ago. We were received kindly and everything was neat and in place. We were even treated to a Karoo thunderstorm which was a bonus. Will definitely stay at the Malvahuisie every time I travel to the Cape.
Comfortable place to stay, with everything you need.
Place was clean and tidy.
Beautiful house with very nice decor, cutlery and furniture. Very neat, clean and well equipped. The location is ideal and we were able to walk to explore De Rust. Nice braai place and lovely porch.
Helpful. Very clean. Friendly. Rooi Donkie next door a bonus. Good food. A TV could be great. Thank you.
Malvahuisie guest house is ideal for the overnight guest. Safe, clean and tidy and very friendly service. Would recommend it.
The guest house's location is excellent, with everything you need, the managers helped us very well with check-in.
Comfortable and characterful self-catering cottage with secure parking and nice and cool veranda.
Home away from home!
Pleasant reception and quiet.
Beautiful, clean place to stay with everything you need!
Was traveling, this was a convenient overnight stop.
Beautiful and tidy accommodation, but the large vehicles turn the road through De Rust into a racetrack at night. Slept very badly. Feel like they are driving over your head. Stayed in Kwikkie.
It's an old house right next to the main road that runs through De Rust, as a result you hear all the road noise and especially trucks driving through the village at high speed, it affected a peaceful night's sleep. The cottage is also equipped with most of what is needed, the shower curtain didn't do it for me. There is a cute little restaurant next door, but it already closes at 6pm.
Sadly a little noisy being on the main road. Very disappointing that there was no hot water for showering or bathing in the beautiful slipper bath. Apparently due to the gas bottle being empty. This is not acceptable.
Ideal stopover on the way to the sea!
What a positive experience. Everything was perfect. The service is of excellent quality. Painfully tidy, very well equipped and value for money. Perfectly located in the middle of the village. We will definitely stay with you again.
Small town but the Malvahuisie is a particularly beautiful place.
Clean, very tidy, all amenities, very nice private braai area, spacious cottage, etc.
The attention to detail was fantastic! A welcome sherry and chocolates, and bath salts for the amazing bath.
Unbelievably beautiful. The most beautiful houses that take you on a journey of discovery. Crisp and neat. Everything inside and out was idyllic.
A clean tidy place to stay in a beautiful town. Definitely a place to visit!
Very hospitable and welcoming. Enjoyed our time there
Was a very nice experience. Very nice place, the host and hostess were very friendly. Clean and nice and warm for the cold evenings. Can't wait to visit again.
It was great for us and if you're tired, you can definitely rest well before your travels.
The Malvahuisie met our expectations.
Very peaceful village and friendly residents.
The Malvahuisie is nicely centrally located with walking distance to the best coffee shop the Village trading post. I can safely recommend the Malvahuisie, because it is very neat, comfortable and cosy. Sjaan and Hein made us feel very welcome upon our arrival.
The rooms are very neat and clean, and the garden is beautifully maintained.
Very pleasant stay. Only heavy vehicles / buses in the main street bothering.
Lovely place to spend the night with all the facilities, clean, tidy with very interesting decor. Nice little dip pool to cool off in. Nice stay, just a shame it's on the main road, lots of trucks.
No microwave, no cutlery or crockery available. We arrived late and restaurants were closed. Therefore the above mentioned items would have made our stay definitely more pleasant.
Malvahuisie and the other properties each have a unique character. The hostess and staff are friendly, considerate and carry a person on their hands. The rooms are spacious, absolutely clean and lack nothing. The gardens are beautiful and everything is well maintained. One simply feels at home. The property is a traveler's haven. Thank you for a lovely stay!
There is clearly a lot of attention to detail and the cottage was decorated with care. All the facilities we could need were available. The small kitchen was well equipped with all the necessities, so we could easily cook for ourselves. The bathroom has a shower and a lovely freestanding bath and the bed was big enough and very comfortable. We were very impressed with the braai facility and the fact that braai wood was provided for us. We were received very kindly and felt completely at home and comfortable. The Malvahuisie offers excellent value for money and we can highly recommend it.
Beautiful cottage with old fashioned charm. Friendly but still professional hosts. Everything you need.
A very cute, cosy cottage in the heart of De Rust. Well equipped for all your needs. Friendly hosts who know the area and surrounds well, so can advise on activities in the area. Really enjoyed our stay and shall go back to stay there. Good value for money too.
I would recommend this place to everyone. Quiet, tidy and the places are beautiful.
Cute little house. Warm and songful atmosphere.
The owners make you feel very much at home as soon as you walk in, and help with any/all advice that is needed! Would definitely stay here again!
Beautiful, friendly reception and great service!
Well located and extremely tidy. The host and hostess made us feel at home very quickly. I would recommend the place anytime. Emma and Magnus Kriel, Centurion.
Really enjoyed, the Malvahuisie is something special, clean and comfortable accommodation with tasteful finishes and decorations.
All the surfaces are packed with little things that don't serve a purpose and are just in the way. The coffee station's shelf is too narrow.
Very peaceful with a lovely cold room. Just sorry no shower. Very helpful with freezer. Big thanks.
We stayed one night in Die Malvahuisie guest house. When we arrived, we found out we were booked into the kwikkie, a double room with a bathroom. The decor is interesting, old-fashioned, almost like going back in time, and highly creative. The customer service was great, and our hosts went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. The extreme heat that night (46 C) was not part of our plans, but at least we could put our feet in the pool to ward off the heat! Air conditioning will give Die Malvahuisie a big advantage over the competition, because nowhere in De Rust (where we went for meals etc.) had air conditioning. The chocolate on our towels and the sherry were very welcome. Overall a very pleasant place, with an old-fashioned charm.
The hosts were very friendly and made sure that we were comfortable at all times. Really made us feel at home. We loved the antique decor.
It's a beautiful old building, beautifully preserved and restored. The owners were friendly, helpful and enthusiastic about their business. Nice farm pond to cool off in. You just have to ask the owners in advance where to eat (the unit is not self-catering). Some city dwellers might feel nervous because there is no burglar alarm on the street side window. Our unit was on the main street - I thought the traffic noise would bother me, but it was actually very quiet at night. I had a great stay, I will visit again!
The host lady and gentleman are very friendly. The stay is cozy and pleasant.
A warm en friendly welcome by management. Die Malvahuisie offers authentic, warm self-catering accommodation. We had a wonderful stay.
The Malvahuisie is well furnished, clean, tidy and well located. We were kindly received.
No. It's just nice and clean.
Would definitely recommend the place to anyone looking to explore the area. It's very good value for money and the place is furnished with everything one needs. The owners are very friendly and helpful.
Friendly, clean and tidy. Traffic in main road can cause noise at night.
Very nice place to stay. Friendly and helpful owners. Will stay there again.
Clean and tidy houses with very good customer service.
Tranquility of surroundings with mountains as background creates a relaxed stay.
Clean and neat. Traffic in main road is quite noisy at night.
Absolute value for money. Thanks to Minike and Kobus for wonderful hospitality. The rooms were beautifully prepared for us with the smallest and most beautiful detail. This stop on our route in the Western Cape was a highlight.
Warm welcome and incredibly delicious "home" feeling. Very neat. Very cute. Fantastic facilities. Fully equipped self-catering unit. Safe. Can highly recommend the Malvahuisie. It's a nice cozy house.
The place is beautiful, tidy and exactly what our needs require. We had a great time and would like to visit again.
Had a nice stay and slept and talked.
I just want to thank Stefan and Teresa for the wonderful time they allowed us in a peaceful area. Die Malvahuisie is equipped with the most beautiful paintings and everything you need for a lovely time with your spouse. Die Malvahuisie is the best!
Upon arrival, Steven and Tessa went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. They even provided a lovely braai and helped with an extra battery to recharge my bakkie. They could also give information on the attractions in the area. Thank you very much.
Thanks to Die Malvahuisie for the great stay!
Only stayed one night and the hostess was friendly and hospitable. Very nice place and tidy.
See stars.
Rooms well equipped with electric blankets and heaters for cold. Very tasteful, neat and clean.
Die Malvahuisie is a beautiful cottage which is well maintained and absolute value for money. The morning's birds on the front porch is a paradise for bird watchers and photographers. I can certainly recommend it. The only problem is the traffic, but that is understandable as the house is situated in the Main Road.
We werden zeer hartelijk ontvangen door Stefan en Tessa. We hadden een ruime en nette kamer en een rustige mooie tuin ter beschikking. Het ontbijt was zeer goed.
Lots of traffic noise because of trucks uring thenight. When the heater is on, the power trips when you switch on the kettle. No sugar in the room, only sweetener.
The accommodation is very neat and picture perfect, but is situated right next to De Rust's Main Street. Therefore you shouldn't expect to get a good night's sleep if you're a light sleeper since the droning noise of the truck that pass are bothersome. The owners seem to have the place on the market and so it looks as though some small things are neglected. E.g. we weren't given the rook we booked and no explanation was given for this. The self-catering unit had no milk or creamer to go with the coffee facilities provided. Other than that there is a lovely garden and beautiful decor in the rooms. I wouldn't stay here again though.
Owner was extremely inhospitable. Never felt so unwelcome in my life. Decided to look for other accommodation instead, because we were not prepared to stay at Malvahuisie with such a pathetic attitude. So one star is actually too much for customer service because there was no service.
Stephen and Tessa are very hospitable and made a lot of effort to make our stay very pleasant. The rooms are very neatly and stylishly furnished and the bed made me sleep like a baby.
Very cute little house and the accommodation was perfect.
I arrived here tired and hot under the collar. My beautiful clean room, the friendly and calm owners as well as the natural beauty and numerous sugar bowls around me, made me relax within fifteen minutes, and then I was very grateful that I didn't push through to Beaufort West. I would never be able to find the peace and quiet there that I found at the Malvahuisie. It was truly the ideal place to spend the night and enjoy a delicious breakfast, before I had to drive through the overwhelming Meiringspoort. A big thank you to the wonderful, artistic owners!
Hosts were friendly. Good breakfast. Only negative issue is that the house is right on the main road and trucks and cars can be heard all through the night travelling through De Rust.
Lovely, comfortable, friendly accommodation and service.
What a pleasant surprise! I can't say enough about the Malvahuisie. It was neat, fully equipped etc. but the effort the owners put in is something you don't get anymore. Fresh flowers in the house were a nice surprise, I would definitely stay here again even if I have to travel further to what I want to see or do.
It was incredible. Stephen and Tessa are so hospitable and their kindness was really pleasing to me.
It was truly a pleasant place and environment!
Good location, clean and helpful.
Wonderful host and hostess. Als very clean and magnificent. Have fun!
The cottage definitely needs an air conditioner and TV set. Still, it is very comfortable and clean. Ideal place to sleep. The people are friendly and hospitable!

We liked the Malvahuisie well. Friendly people; beautiful surroundings. Minuses: painfully hot house (low roof) - no air conditioning, but one ventilator. The kitchen - pans, cutlery, dishes were too few.
