92 guests' feedbackThank you for the awesome hospitality and your friendly nature. You are indeed an excellent host. And thank you for all the nice goodies; such a nice gesture. I will visit again.
Quiet and peaceful. Stylishly decorated with all the little extras. Walking distance to the Saturday market, shops and restaurants.
We will definitely recommend the place to people. Beautiful, neat and very well equipped. Ideal for two persons.
Very nice stay. The Die Markhuisie is stylish and has everything you need for a weekend getaway.
Really very comfortable self-catering unit. The kitchen had everything. Nice and quiet. The stoep area and garden were great.
We had a great time in the Markhuisie.
It's our second time there, so that says a lot. Nice treats, everything you need: coffee, tea milk, biscuits, refreshments and even a bottle of wine and firewood for the fireplace. Very accommodating hostess. Will be our choice again for a return to Greyton.
Thank you very much for the warm welcome with all the food, wine, cookies and biscuits - it was all very nice and appreciated. The cottage was clean and tidy and very well equipped - we will definitely come again.
Home away from home.
It was delicious. The Markhuisie is the perfect place near the town, within walking distance of everything. The Markhuisie is a beautiful place, such a cozy place to stay.
We had a nice stay and rested. Nice walk wherever we wanted to be. Beautiful village and nice atmosphere.
Stay was fine, quiet, very clean. Please update the cover picture. 1 bedside light not working (reported to owner). Parking should be made parallel to the road as it is rather short in the perpendicular direction.
Very nice stay! Most beautiful village.
Thank you, we slept great even though it was nice and the place was clean and tidy and in their place, only the braai was dirty and no cleaning products available. Just suggest to update face sheet.
Nice cottage in the centre of town. Was good value for money. Bottle of wine was a nice gesture and the cookies.
The Market House was such a special place to stay. The unit is tastefully furnished and has everything one could need. It is walking distance to restaurants and the OR. Reading a book in bed with the door to the garden open while the rain fell on the canopy was something I will remember for a long time. Very special! I will definitely book the Markhuisie again and have already recommended it to two friends.
We loved our stay at the Markhuisie. The location was great for the Saturday morning market - well within walking distance. The wine, cookies and beskuit were a nice surprise and made us feel instantly welcome! The full DSTV package also was a nice benefit for sport channels.
Karlien has thought of absolutely everything you might need. You walk in and it feels like home. The Market House is perfectly located and we only got back in the car to drive when we left town on Sunday.
A very cosy cottage close to the main strip of Greyton. The cottage is small but cosy, ideal for a single traveller or couple. Modern appliances and a nice fireplace for colder evenings. I really appreciated the little welcome chocolates and snacks. Full DStv but no Wi-Fi. Most cafes in Gretyon have free Wi-Fi, if you really need it.
Many thanks to the hostess for all the treats, such as wood for the fireplace, delicious wine and snacks. We enjoyed the visit very much.
We had a wonderful time at Die Markhuisie. Karlien spoilt us rotten with all the treats, my goodness, we enjoyed a braai every day, and made a fire inside during load-shedding, all the wood was supplied, and the cottage was very private with beautiful trees. The Cottage is also situated within walking distance of all restaurants and the nature reserve, we never used our vehicle during our 3 nights stay, and walked a total of 36km. Good exercise after all the treats. We will definitely visit Die Markhuisie again, thank you again, Karlien.
This was our third stay at Die Markhuisie and it didn't disappoint. We were also allowed to check in early which was a bonus. The location is also perfect, right across the road from the Saturday market and within walking distance of all the shops and restaurants. There's always a bottle of wine, chocolates and chips to welcome us. One really could not ask for more.
Everything in this house is so beautiful. Although it was raining, we could still sit in the nice little garden. Karlien was also always available. We have no complaints.
Perfect location close to the market, nature reserve and on the quieter side of town. Great accommodation, well-equipped and cool private garden. Awesome!
Very nice stay and relaxed. Location is perfect. Very nice town. The cottage is fully equipped for a weekend getaway.
Nice and close to the town. You can easily walk down the road and you're in the centre of Greyton! Lovely little treats were at the house when we arrived, along with a bottle of wine and wood for the fire - very much appreciated! Overall, a pleasant stay and would definitely come back!
We really enjoyed our weekend at De Markhuisie. The host went to a lot of trouble to make us feel welcome, the extra touches like braai wood, a bottle of wine, and cookies really were appreciated. The location is within walking distance of the main street and the Saturday market, very well placed.
We really enjoyed our stay in Die Markhuisie. Nice close to everything, came to walk where we wanted to be. The cottage is well equipped, and we enjoyed the wine and chocolate.
Quaint, well-equipped cottage. Excellent location within walking distance of the market and all of Greyton's restaurants and shops. A private back garden was a bonus and a definite perk in the warmer months. All the extra treats/snacks were an unexpected but welcome surprise, thank you! Triggered the alarm upon arrival, armed response arrived within 2 min which allayed any security concerns.
Safety of vehicle was a concern. No gates. No garage.
Die Markhuisie had everything you could wish for to make a weekend comfortable. As it was very cold we especially appreciated the very comfortable bed with lots of warm blankets and a fire with all the wood provided and a bottle of wine. Tea and coffee and lots of other little extras. Thank you so much Karlien and John for all the thought that went into your little house.
Die Markhuisie was a wonderful place to stay. Close to shops and restaurants. Will visit and stay again.
Located in peaceful surroundings and very private. Own garden with barbecue was a bonus. Tasteful and everything you need. Was pleasantly surprised by all the extras! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home. We will definitely come again and recommend it boldly.
Wine, real coffee, chocs, snacks, wood and no charge for the day we were on the trail to McGregor.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Die Markhuise. It had everything we needed and a bonus was the patio overlooking the pretty garden with braai facilities. It is very central and you can walk to the shops. We did not use our car once the entire weekend. It is just up the road from the Saturday market and you can walk from the house to the nature reserve. The accommodation was clean with lovely extras such as chocolate and chips and a bottle of wine. We will definitely stay there again.
The Market House has a pleasant atmosphere and offers everything, for two people, that is needed. Enough wood for the first braai, or fireplace, and a nice bottle of white wine, made us feel right at home. The place is very central and we could explore the whole town, as well as the Saturday market, on foot.
The Markhuisie is really a very cute place. Everything you need to relax and have a good time. Thank you Karlien for all the delicious treats. I chose the perfect place to celebrate my birthday. We will definitely visit again. That porch and fireplace were my favorite. Just a suggestion for a drying rack, so that you can hang the towels outside during the day. Furthermore, everything we needed was there.
We had a great time! Greyton is a beautiful town! The market house has everything you need for a weekend getaway. Well equipped kitchen, outdoor barbecue and lovely fireplace for the winter months. It is walking distance to all restaurants and shops. We had a great time!
The Markhuisie is a beautiful place. There were many treats upon our arrival. The cottage is within walking distance of everything we wanted to be. There were often horses visiting and trotting in the street during our stay. We will look no further for other accommodation if we visit Greyton again.
We had a wonderful visit and stay. The Markhuisie is beautifully clean and tidy and an ideal place to stay. Walking distance to everything. Many thanks to Karlien for the treats, wine, firewood. Truly beautiful place and will visit again. Thank you.
The nice porch and private garden, with braai facilities, make it a complete little house and not just overnight accommodation. Along with that, the place is extremely neat and the hostess paid a lot of attention to detail. The delicious cookies with tea, and the ready-packed firewood at the braai, are just a few of all the treats on arrival. And the delicious bottle of wine must also be mentioned. The TV, with all DStv channels, was an absolute bonus. The Market House is located in a very quiet street, but within walking distance of all events in the town. When we visit Greyton again, we will look for no other accommodation than Die Markhuisie. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our stay and visit to the town.
Greyton is a beautiful town, lots to do and see. The Market House was very neat, clean and comfortable with all the amenities you need. I will definitely stay there again.
Lovely house for 2 people. Everything needed is there. It's neat, clean, conveniently close to everything. Thank you Karlin.
Such a beautiful place to stay for a couple when visiting Greyton. We enjoyed our stay tremendously and will definitely be back. Karlien was a fantastic host and we enjoyed the surprise treats that were left for us. Thank you very much for a memorable weekend. 100% 5 star recommendation.
Very neat and tasteful. Well equipped.
Feel free to do so. Thanks for all those unexpected extras - filter coffee, a bottle of wine, private garden.
My husband and I had a lovely weekend at Die Markhuisie. Accommodation was very comfortable and perfect walking distance into town. Host was responsive and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.
Will go back again. Get more than you expect. Above expectation private.
Die Markhuisie is the perfect romantic spot for a couple, everything you could possibly need in a stunning setting and perfectly situated too, within walking distance to the Saturday market and all the shops and restaurants in the main road. Would book there again in a heartbeat.
Very central and lots of little treats! Beautiful garden! Als was perfect and would recommend and visit again for sure!
Die Markhuisie is conveniently located near all amenities. It was a quick walk to the Saturday market, shops and restaurants. It is also close to the nature reserve. We were welcomed with cookies to enjoy with our coffee and cheese straws to enjoy with our wine. Karien sent us a message giving us directions to the cottage as well as where to find the key. The impression was that the holiday cottage is well managed. Wi-Fi would be great, but was unavailable.
In a country town like Greyton it was the ideal accommodation. Centrally located. Everything one expected was there. Nice cottage. Lovely bedroom with large doors that open onto a nice patio. Braai next to the porch. Even wood for braai and for fireplace. In addition, there was a bottle of wine and two glasses on the table upon our arrival and even a chocolate bar on our pillows. Everything that contributes to a wonderful two-day stay. Would highly recommend Die Markhuisie.
Comfortable enough for short visit. A few things needed maintenance/upgrading.
The place was neat and clean. WhatsApped the hostess with all the details. You can see she struggles with everything. But. You park outside in the street (which would have been okay) but after the security guy told me they break into cars, I wasn't very reassured.
We stayed for 2 nights. The hostess was not at home and informed me via Whatsapp what the code was for the mailbox, where the key is kept. You park your car in front of the unit. The check in and out was very convenient. The open plan unit consisted of a kitchen, living area, bedroom and bathroom. The kitchen had a microwave oven and fridge and all crockery and kitchenware to make your stay comfortable. There was fresh milk provided in the fridge, as well as a tea/coffee station. The living area had a sitting area with a fireplace and TV with DStv channels. The bedroom and the bathroom were on a higher level. The 2 single beds were made into a king-size bed. Note: there was a tall staircase, plus or minus 30 cm high or more, which made it difficult for me to climb up and down from the living area to the bedroom and bathroom area. Maybe the stairs could be mentioned in the description for people who struggle with stairs? The bathroom consisted of 2 separate parts. The shower with a basin as one part, and the toilet as the other part. Note: there is no ceiling or doors to the 2 areas, meaning there is no privacy. The other challenge was also, that the sink is in the shower, ie when you shower the entire floor surface is wet. Perhaps an old towel can be provided, so that one can dry the floor if one wants to wash hands later? There is a braai area outside, with a nice enclosed garden. A braai drum was already packed with wood for your first braai. 2 friendly dogs also came to say hello at the wire. There was a table and 2 chairs where you could sit and relax. Thanks for the bottle of wine, it was a nice treat. There was a light outside by your car for security. Covid-19 protocols were followed. We can recommend Die Markhuis, the hostess was friendly and we enjoyed our stay.
Clean and tidy with a private garden. Walking distance to all entertainments.
Very well furnished, clean, spacious enough for two people with a nice braai on the outside patio overlooking a private little garden. We had a great time. The bottle of wine, enough wood for indoor fireplace and outdoor barbecue was a wonderful addition.
We loved our weekend exploring the trails in Greyton. Die Markhuisie provided comfortable, clean, easy and conveniently situated self-catering accommodation such that we didn't need to use our car all weekend! Die Markhuisie went above and beyond with all the little touches, will definitely be back!
The Market House was exactly what we needed to just get away and rest. It's small, but everything you need is there. We were treated to a bottle of wine and the most delicious biscuits. We will definitely go back to Markhuisie in the future.
The Market House is so incredibly cute. We had so much fun there. The cottage really had everything we needed and more. We will definitely stay there again.
Had a lovely stay, will definitely be back.
Lovely place. Spacious for 2 with nice garden and giant bed! If so neat. Thank you Karlien, we will come again!
Nice attention to detail and really enjoyed all of the little treats.
Cute little house, everything you need and very central. Will definitely stay in the market house again. The owner goes out of her way to make it special. We received a second set of clean towels, nice bottle of wine and snacks, enough wood for the stove and barbecue. Definitely value for money. See you again soon.
Beautiful and excellently located. Walking distance from everything, yet also private enough. The welcome with snacks and a bottle of delicious wine was a great surprise and plus, with no extra charges. True South African hospitality. Recommendation: a coat hanger or two right by the front door for coats, hats etc.
Had a great time in a well-equipped house!
Hosts catered way beyond our expectations. Loved every minute of our stay. Felt incredibly welcome. Cottage close enough to walk to town, but far enough to be away from the main street traffic. The only recommendation would be to have more storage available for clothing and shoes.
The market house is beautifully furnished and decorated and we were very surprised when we walked in.
The Market House itself has everything you need, lovely bed with little back garden and porch and beautiful peaceful little garden with trees and birds. All restaurants are within walking distance. We had a great stay!
Karlien is an excellent hostess. The Market House is tastefully furnished, excellent location, very well equipped and TV with premium DSTV was a pleasant surprise. Eish, we had so much fun for 3 days and nights during the work week.
The decor is done with such taste, the finer attention given to the guest's reception is equivalent to 5 star hotel standards. Everything you need and more is there for you. We had a great time, the easy distance from everything in the drop was an incredible bonus. We definitely recommend Die Markhuisie. Super neat, clean and so quiet. Rest for the soul. Karlien really got my highest respect for customer service!
Very conveniently located. Karlien is an exceptional hostess and really goes out of her way to make sure her guests are comfortable. Thank you very much for a wonderful visit in Greyton.
This little gem is so comfortable and central that we felt at home - away from our home.
The gardens of Greyton are terribly beautiful at the moment, especially the roses!
No private bathroom. Sink is in the shower and shower water drains very slowly. Garden is very neglected - no pleasure to sit outside. No closet or rail to unpack clothes. Braai place was not cleaned. Garage door in photo creates the expectation that parking is indeed safe and that vehicle is not parked outside.
The place has so much potential but when you can see with your naked eye that it hasn't been cleaned, it all falls apart. Bed linen and towels were thankfully clean.
Our stay at Die Markhuisie was terrific! The location is very central - we could literally park the car and walk everywhere we wanted to go! Very clean and a lovely place to stay. I would recommend this to everyone wanting to spend a weekend in Greyton.
Great little cottage with nice touches from very helpful owner. Once she got neighbours' dog to stop barking it was a very relaxing stay in a sleepy little town.
Will definitely go back to Greyton and make use of Die Markhuisie. Had a great time!
Neat and well looked after. Walking distance from everything important in Greyton. Karlien was really friendly and helpful. Will visit again!
We spent four days at the Market House in Greyton. The house and sheltered garden met our expectations. The hospitality of the hostess, Karlien, exceeded our expectations. She went out of her way - literally and figuratively - to make our stay comfortable and meet our unexpected special needs. We strongly recommend the Markhuisie to visitors who prefer self-catering accommodation. Thank you very much!
Neat with beautiful decor. Guests are taken care of with all the extras which we really appreciated. A nice weekend getaway. Within walking distance of the shops, restaurants and the market. Thank you very much, Karlien, for your involvement as a hostess. Would definitely recommend your place!
The Markhuisie met our needs. Neat and nice close to everything. We missed the fact that there was no WiFi a bit.
Thank you very much for a wonderful visit at Die Markhuisie. It is super clean and tidy and the fireplace is a winner! We come again!
Had a great time in Greyton, as always. The Markhuisie was clean, beautiful and no negative feedback can be given.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights in the lovely little cottage. The furnishings are top class and the bed was very comfortable. Nice treats like the chocolates, mini biscuits and wine were unexpected and an added bonus. Only thing missing was Wi-Fi, otherwise it would have been perfect.
I enjoyed every moment of the weekend immensely en will highly recommend it. Karlien was awesome with all the extras that she organised for us. Thank you so much.
Wonderful relaxing stay. No cupboard for clothing. Wonderful stay and makes one feel welcome.
The Market House is well equipped and has everything you need. The house is very beautiful and special. We did struggle with the shower and hot water, but at least survived the cold.
We had a great stay in Die Markhuisie. We made one or two recommendations that were well received. We will definitely stay there again and recommend Markhuisie for sure. One does not need anything more.
