We had a very nice stay. The house (we stayed in the Melkstal house) has everything you need, with a fireplace inside and also a nice porch outside to be able to braai. It is quiet and peaceful and exactly what one needs for a weekend away. The hostess was also very friendly and helpful. Would stay there again anytime.

A basic wooden house ideal for two people to break away from the city's noise.
Definitely a peaceful place to relax and sunbathe.
It was lovely to see open fields and cornfields around me, just what we needed. The Melksthal is beautifully situated and the road to it was completely drivable, although the roads were damaged during the recent rains. The visiting areas have nice surprises everywhere and the farm pond was a welcome swimming spot for the children. We really enjoyed the big stoep and braai!
There is a fantastic entertainment area which has a braai, pizza oven, pool and a jungle gym with a trampoline. The kids loved seeing the farm animals too.

It was a pleasant weekend on the farm. The house is very pleasant with good facilities, but it was not properly clean. There was old rubbish in the ash bin, and the counter in the kitchen, as well as the stove, were dirty. The geyser is very sensitive, so we had a lot of trouble regulating the water in the shower.

His Patrys was clean and tidy. The farm is quiet and we had a nice time in the late afternoon on the big stoep. It was lovely to listen to all the night sounds. We can definitely recommend the break from the city. Great service to everyone at the Melksthal.
Had the desire to introduce my children to farm life. Upon stepping in, it immediately gave me the feeling of a family farmhouse. Sheep with lambs, boer goats, horses, cattle, willow trees - my child was in love. Enjoyed it so much. The only note is that it was a bit difficult to regulate the water for the shower, but that comes with a farm. Be patient and regulate a little bit at a time and wait before setting further.
Country living.
Was a very nice break. We had small children together and had more than enough to do. The playground is large and nice and close to the house. Children especially enjoyed the zipline. The unit was nicely furnished in a modern way and the bedding felt 5 star. We were in Huis Patrys. Will definitely go again.
Just under 2 hours drive from Pretoria. Neat place to stay. Very nice play area for the children, from trampoline, to climbing wall to Zipline to a little river and more to play with. Nice barbecue place. Close to the Vaal Dam for an easy afternoon trip there. Very friendly and helpful hostess, Sarita.
Nice outdoor space to play for big and small. Farm animals that walk around are peaceful. I will recommend this place to anyone that likes a farm. Comfortable, large house, but it was a bit cold. There is at least enough additional blankets.

The Melkstal is a homely, well-furnished old milking shed where the city dweller can breathe again. A piece of heaven where you can enjoy the sounds of cattle, sheep, donkeys, turtle doves, guinea fowls and a crowing rooster. The rooms are nicely decorated. The kitchen has everything you need. The braai place is any farmer's dream, three-legged potty included for pottjie food. Sarita is a friendly and helpful hostess. We will definitely visit there again.
It was peaceful. The animals are so friendly and we were not bothered by anyone at all. Everything was 100%.
I had a very precious encounter with Abba Father there. There He used sheep and goats and horses - even nature - to talk to me. Inner healing with and through Abba Father's own creation. I will definitely go there.

The house is very practically furnished, and the house and farm with the farm animals bring back memories of carefree childhood. The farm owners are beautiful people, very hospitable. We are going to make this getaway a regular institution.

Tired of the noise and rat trip of the city? The Dairy is located close to Johannesburg and is easily accessible. The bad cell phone signal and no TV make sure you spend quality time with your loved ones. Truly rest for the soul and body. The unit is equipped with everything (and more) you need in your kitchen. It's neat and cozy. The host and hostess make you feel welcome immediately. The picturesque surroundings and peace of mind are truly a 'Fairy Tale for a City Child'.
The place is small and cold. Although the nice large braai area in summer makes up for it, it was too cold to be outside. Kobus and Sarita are caring hosts who invited us to make coffee on their wood stove. Nice and quiet world on the farm. Nice spot for photographers.

Not satisfied because the woman only said when we got there that they were closed for the winter months, so my reservation was confirmed and if and then the place wasn't even ready for us, seeing as I had to struggle with hot water.

It was clean and people were terribly concerned about us! Incredibly nice porch and very sheltered! We were just girls with a little baby. People checked up on us but not too much. Felt safe and well rested! There is everything you will need in a living house. Donkey was scalded all the time so water was nice and hot! We are definitely taking our men with us soon!

Die Melkstal is a great place to spend a relaxing weekend. Facilities clean, neat and pleasant. Location a bit of a problem as one has to drive at least 30 km to the nearest shop or tourist attraction. Highly recommended to those looking for farm style living. Generally me and my girlfriend were happy with the place and would visit again.
