Communication from host was quick, clear and complete. Protea unit: Very neat and clean. Huge, comfortable bed with clean, fresh linen. Spacious bathroom with clean towels and body wash soap, as well as a hairdryer. A box of milk for morning coffee with biscuits. Definitely worth staying at Die Opstal Gastekamers.

Very nice stay. Just ask for a room that is not right next to the dining hall. You wake up early in the morning to a scramble and people talking loudly and utensils rattling.
The homestead is a very neat, clean and comfortable overnight stay experience, which I would highly recommend to any traveler or visitor. The value for money is probably one of the best in Potchefstroom.

The Opstal Guest Rooms were clean, tidy and very well located in a quiet, tree-rich neighborhood. We felt safe in the area and there are some cute little shops within walking distance of the guest house. The guesthouse also has a breakfast option - just a shame they didn't actually tell us when we checked in.

What a lovely and comfortable place to stay. Very neat, private, safe and comfortable. Really value for money. With loadshedding, at least the lights, TV and WiFi work, so they try their best to make it comfortable for their guests. Will definitely stay there again.

The accommodation was great, the aircon was very welcome in the heat wave. The location is neat and tidy although some renovations where taking place, the room was clean and very comfortable. The area is quiet and close to a well stocked Spar.

Comfortable accommodation and neatly furnished. The spiral staircase to our unit was relatively stylish. Perhaps consider one of the ground floor units instead if traveling with elderly people. However, the unit is spacious for 3 people and the beds are comfortable.
Had a really nice stay in Madeliefie room. Upon our arrival we dialed the number on the gate and the hostess was there to welcome us within 10 minutes. Enjoyed the dogs too. The only complaint I can have is that the dump entrance is very small and the only suggestion I can give is that they should consider a breakfast option. It will be comfortable to be able to have a breakfast at your place of rest before you have to hit the road again to your next destination.
This was a beautiful place to stay, I had issues with regard to the fact that we were asked to call 15 minutes in advance, so that they could arrange for us to welcome. Which seems personally unprofessional, and we did but then when we got there, there was no one to welcome us and we had to wait after an extremely long journey. The man who did welcome us was professional and the issue was not due to his inability but rather the person who operates the phone. There was also a beautiful Weimaraner who was crying most of the night, that we considered letting him sleep inside our room so that we could get rest. There is mold building up on the bathroom door and the floor as well as there was hair around the sink in the bathroom.
We arrived in the late afternoon and drove early in the morning there were no problems with accommodation and the arrangements.

The Homestead is designed for load shedding and any inconvenience that may arise for a person. They are friendly and solve the problem immediately. Will always stay there if I have to spend the night in Potchefstroom.

The rusks in the room are delicious (homemade is always best) and I would just suggest they had sweetener but otherwise a very nice stay.

We really enjoyed the visit at Die Opstal Guest Rooms! The rooms are spacious with a nice bathroom, aircon, microwave, small fridge and cutlery. When we got there we were welcomed in person and taken to the room and asked if we needed anything else. The people are friendly and very helpful.

The day we were due to book in, we started getting messages from the hosts with their location and asking if there were any special requirements. Contact numbers and all info was sent to us without asking. On arrival we were greeted by the hosts and I have never experienced such caring and dedicated people. They could not do enough for us and we felt as if we were at home from the moment we arrived to the time we left. Absolutely incredible. Thank you guys.

The room was beautifully clean and tidy. There was a loose door placed in front of an opening where it looked like a bathroom was being added. We were disappointed that the bathroom was not en-suite (thankfully there was no need to share the available bathroom with someone else). An interior curtain in the room would also have ensured privacy. When the room is finished I believe it will be a nice overnight room.

My husband I booked one night at Die Opstal. It was such a lovely experience, so much more than what we expected. The accommodation is perfect for a family, parents and children, and it is desirable that it is advertised as such as each room does not have its own bathroom facilities and two of the three rooms have to share a bathroom which can make it very inconvenient . The Homestead Guest Rooms advertises that each room has its own private bathroom with a bath and/or shower.
Although we only stayed one night for a wedding in the area we really enjoyed it and everything was perfect. The 3 stars for safety is just a bit of Gauteng paranoia. Can really recommend.
Points we were dissatisfied with: Bed's mattress very thin and people with back problems pull heavily, shower was not clean at all, stains on walls and floor (unhygienic), says it is self-catering, but self-catering facilities not available ( kitchen was inaccessible).
Potchefstroom is very hot so I think they can invest in an aircon because we couldn't sleep it was so hot. You don't even feel the roof fans. I think they are a bit expensive with their price for what you get there compared to the other guesthouses in Potchefstroom.

The facilities are neat, convenient and suggests good taste. Kobus and Fia are more than just friendly and makes you feel at home. They went out of their way to make our accommodation convenient. It is a place where you go back to and Kobus and Fia become your friends.

We often stay in Potch when visiting our student son, and this has been the most suitable accommodation thus far. When you're visiting your child it is really difficult to have to sit in a restaurant or stay cooped up in a guest house room. The lapa and braai area was a great bonus. We could enjoy the homey environment and even put some meat on the fire. Kobus and Phia went to such an effort to make it as pleasant as possible for us. I recommend die Opstal to any parent visiting from afar.
The van Staden's are wonderful people. We had a great stay. Very clean and neat and the place is well equipped.
Die Opstal Gastekamers was exactly what I needed. The room was beautifully furnished, spacious with a big bathroom and a private entrance. I was able to come and go as I pleased. Restaurants and shops are close by. I will definitely stay at Die Opstal again.

Rooms beautifully decorated. Comfortable bed and the bathroom amenities are really pretty and spacious. Walking distance from Spar and the dogs are cute and well mannered. They don't bother guests and only come to you when called. Enjoyed the stay!
My wife spent a week in Potchefstroom for work at the NWU. Unfortunately she fell ill on the first evening and had to go to hospital in the early morning hours. Kobus and his wife were just amazing in this regard. We live in Pretoria and couldn't be there. He immediately called me when she left 22:00 at night. Offered to accompany her and just wanted to help. She only got back there at 1:30 and he messaged me immediately. The are hosts in the true sense of the word and really care. The room was so spacious, clean and safe. I would definitely recommend this accommodation to anyone and will surely be back!

The facility is nice, but there's no privacy. You hear other people in the morning. The fridge makes a noise that sounds like a door opening, therefore it constantly felt like the door of the main house was opening and that really made us feel uncomfortable all evening. Would still recommend them because it's really beautiful, but wouldn't stay there again.
