Clean and tidy and friendly service - cement floors are only cold in winter!
We really enjoyed our stay at Die Ou Winkeltjie. Brian gave us a warm welcome. Everything was clean and tidy and provided everything needed in the kitchen. We bought delicious warm toasted cake around the corner for breakfast. The restaurant has already closed at 16:00, so make sure to be ready to provide dinner yourself.

The Old Shop is neat, clean and modern and ideal to switch off a day or two in Merweville's silence.

There is no WiFi, so make the necessary arrangements. There is no desk in the room, but the kitchen has a nice table and counter top. The counter top is also close to a power point and nice to work on. There are braai facilities and it's very nice to braai on a fresh Karoo evening. Would have liked if the kitchen door was a barn door type so we could leave the top door open. I would stay there again anytime. Beautiful and tidy and Brian is an excellent host.

I had never been to Merweville before and so I had no preconceived ideas or expectations of either the town or accommodation. I was very pleasantly surprised on both counts. There is not a lot to see or do but for me it’s part of the charm of a small Karoo town. There are no bright lights or restaurants so bring what you need and enjoy the ambiance. My accommodation was just perfect for my needs and is an ideal stay for a couple. The bedroom and bathroom with a bath and a shower was great and a well appointed kitchen just begs you to self cater.
The house is quite spacious and very tidy. The bed is comfortable and the bathroom clean and well planned. We will definitely stay here again if we stay overnight in Merweville again.

We had a great stay at Die Ou Winkeltjie in Merweville. This has been my 3rd visit to Merweville, but my first stay at Ou Winkeltjie. Brian was very kind and helpful. The accommodation was excellent, neat and clean. The house had all the necessary facilities. All that the house needed were braai tongs and a light at the braai.
This old building has just been restored. It is very comfortable and I found the bed wonderfully comfortable. The furniture and facilities are excellent. Brian was very friendly and helpful. I would only advise that another lamp and another carpet be installed in the living room. No TV or DStv, but I enjoyed the silence.
Merwewille was a pleasant surprise. The unit has everything needed. Maybe a mirror by a power point to blow dry hair would be good. It was very hot and the mosquitoes almost carried us away, but the beautiful surroundings make you forget about it. Brian shares valuable information and experiences us a.g.v. of which a beautiful sunset and a breathtaking full moon above from the mountain. Thanks Brian, it's forever in our memory.

If you want to go to Merweville to relax and do your own thing, this is the right place. Very affordable with everything you need and very tidy. The host, Brian, is very friendly and gets along well with almost anyone. I would without a doubt recommend Die Ou Winkeltjie to anyone who wants to visit Merweville. We will definitely return here again.
