The pontoon house is located on the most beautiful family farm, surrounded by mountains and a river in front of the cottage. We never saw or heard anyone else. It was very peaceful and we had a great time relaxing.

The dirt road was good and the van was easy to drive. Cottage is next to the farmer's house, but is still private. Lovely to have both outside and inside barbecue, so we could make a nice fire in the morning. We took our kayak with us and had a great time paddling on the river. WiFi was good. Extra wood was available. Canopy or umbrella on the porch would be nice; we had hats so that helped against the sun.
My husband and I had a great time at Die Ponthuis! The fireplace/indoor braai was a bonus during a big storm that hit the Western Cape.

Quaint little place, has all the necessities and the farm was empty when we got there. The two dogs were very friendly, hardly left us alone in fact, but we didn't mind! There isn't any cell signal, but the Wi-Fi was fast so we could still keep in touch with the rest of the world. Kobus was very accommodating and friendly too. Overall a lovely place, will definitely visit again!
We celebrated our first wedding anniversary at Die Ponthuis and we are so grateful for the most beautiful getaway. The friendly dogs, lots of wood and cozy cottage was exactly what we wanted! We would definitely recommend it.
The place was really good value for money and was what we needed. However, as someone who is not into animals, it was a bit of a deterrent to having two dogs on the property that was not separate from their dwelling. The dogs were not badly behaved, and as this is a working farm and the animals were pets it would be good to alert future visitors. Other than that, the place was great! We will still rate the accommodation tops!

Die Ponthuis's location is definitely excellent. Dirt roads were not a problem, but I would recommend guests to go with a van or suitable car.
What a beautiful place. The location of this holiday accommodation is right by the river. They have two loungers on the patio and a hot tub, which is nice for a sunny day and cool evening. This place is a very rustic and tranquil place to unwind and relax. The only thing I would suggest to the host is to get a patio umbrella; it can get really hot in the afternoon.

Good option if you want to get away from a busy life! They were too nice to provide us with lots of wood, and there is so much to do! Tennis courts, walking trails and not too far from Greyton. We will definitely visit again!

However, navigating the gravel road to reach our destination proved challenging for our smaller vehicle. Nevertheless, the overall experience was well worth it, leaving us grateful for the opportunity to rejuvenate amidst such breathtaking surroundings. Thank you for an unforgettable stay.
We really enjoyed our time at Die Ponthuis. Highs included peaceful and tranquil location, beautiful and well-manicured farm, friendly and happy dogs, spacious and firm bed, very helpful host, warm water that flowed immediately, and ample firewood provided. Lows included evidence of lack of detailed deep cleaning (microwave and top of fridge were dirty with old dirt and the microwave had to be scrubbed inside to clear old food spatters before use), the peace of the last day was disrupted by all-day lawn mowing right outside the accommodation, few good or suitable cooking utensils and containers for a longer stay, limited space to put luggage bags and clothing in bedroom for a longer stay, and no gas option for cooking during bouts of loadshedding. Overall, however, the highs outweighed these lows and we really enjoyed our stay and left feeling refreshed. We would therefore recommend it to others.
Would have liked to have a canopy on the porch to be able to see the beauty in the mornings, but everything is wet and dewy. You should also sit inside if it rains or if the sun is shining hot.

We really liked the quiet tranquility of the house. Was a great getaway weekend. Was a bit hard to find as we did not know we needed to drive across the grass as there was no road but that is really the only critique - everything else was perfect.

Adjacent to the main house, this cottage has beautiful views to the mountains. There is a river that runs past the farm and the view is truly beautiful. The two friendly dogs stopped by often and we also enjoyed trips on the dirt roads to Greyton. Mind you, the dirt road to the ranch from the N2 is very good and you can drive it in a Ferrari if you have to, don't believe the Google reviews about how bad the road is.
Is a very nice place. The dirt road was good and got there easily with a Chevrolet Spark. The rain made the dirt road a little muddy, but it was still good to drive. The place was clean and everything worked well. It is a farmhouse so cannot be compared to a 5-star hotel, but everything was 100% for us. The farms and the fields were incredibly beautiful. There is no signal at the house itself, but about a km drive on the dirt road there is signal again. There is wifi in the house so we could do whatever we wanted on the internet.
The actual cottage was comfortable but seemed a bit neglected and needed some attention. Eg. Not all lights were working, needed a shelf in the shower, no candles for load shedding etc. However, the cottage was private and peaceful and the view was superb.
Die Ponthuis is set in a beautiful location. With a warm, welcoming host and delightful dogs we immediately felt comfortable. The cottage is delightful! It is well equipped, beautifully decorated and ideal for a weekend getaway.
Greyton is not far from the Ponthuis, with many nice restaurants and a market on Saturdays.

It was an absolutely lovely weekend at the Ponthuis. The silence, natural beauty and the environment as a whole do the soul good. The hot tub is a must in the evenings under the stars! Feel free to pack the bikes, walking shoes, fishing rods and swimwear. The Jack Russel (Mila) is also a wonderful hostess who accompanies you all too well on a walk. We will definitely see the Ponthuis again soon.

We went away for 1 day to this place. We had a nice stay. It had everything we needed. Enjoyed the indoor fireplace and the outdoor hot tub.

Ponthuis is a beautiful old farm cottage in an idyllic setting. Sadly we were not expecting the terrible road conditions. We understand that the heavy rains in the region had made it bad but would have appreciated better communication regarding this matter. We also did not realize there was no Wifi or cell phone signal at all. I had communicated to the property that we just had a regular sedan car but not much information was communicated back just directions sent the day before after asking several times. If you want beautiful natural farm surroundings, remote with no connectivity and you have a four by four vehicle I am sure it will be a different experience.
The setting and the views are great but as there is no Wi-Fi as indicated in the advert. In fact there is no cell reception in or near the cottage at all! There are some new additions like a pit braai and a hot tub but there are other aspects inside the cottage that could be upgraded. Holes in the sheets are a no-no. The dog was cute but the cat became a bit of a problem to remove from the cottage and continued to climb though the windows and had to be removed from the bed.
This is one of the most beautiful places to stay and the owners are incredibly nice and make you feel so at home. The view of the mountains and river is breathtaking with the most beautiful lawns and don't forget the surprise of the delicious zinc pool that you can heat. We enjoyed it so much and will definitely be back.
The house has everything you need inside, clean, comfortable and cosy. Outside, nature works together to make you completely relax. It's private and safe, and the hot tub is a nice bonus!
Everything is recommended. What one sees in the photos is exactly what one encounters there: the view, privacy, lawn, stream, and more. Take your bathing suit with you to enjoy the "hot tub" outside. Also very high factor sunblock - very important.

Breathtaking and comfortable.
I grew up in the country, so it was like coming home. The accommodation is cozy, clean and comfortably decorated. Kobus made us feel so welcome, as did the canine and feline family members, accompanying us on walks, and many cozy cuddles. The mountain views, river at the the garden edge, on a well organised and run farm, are outstanding.
We had a great stay at Die Ponthuis. Very quiet, big fireplace for winter and an amazing location. We also had some scheduling issues but Kobus was very understanding and helpful!

We had a very nice stay. It's an amazing atmosphere and location, but the place was very dirty. We come from a farm. So, I'm used to bugs, but the place and especially the shower looks like it was cleaned a long time ago.
My husband and I, based in Cape Town, often do getaway weekends in surrounding small towns using different booking platforms and this was our 7th trip with LekkeSlaap in the last year, and our first ever disappointment. We only stayed the 1st of a 3 night planned trip and were willing to lose the money (the owner refused to reimburse even a part of the money lost) for the last 2 nights, and find better accommodation. It is unfortunately more old and outdated than 'rustic chic'. The beds (2 single beds put together with a bit of a gap) really need replacing as does the carpet in the room, and the ceiling wood carries a very heavy smoke smell most likely accumulated from the indoor fireplace. I coughed and sneezed throughout the night and we had to leave as I knew I would get sick if we stayed any longer. The was a broken fan in the room so we unfortunately couldn't try that as a way to help the smell that was irritating my throat. The view outside is really beautiful however. And so if you do go, that may make it worth it depending on the level of comfort you enjoy/expect from accommodation. Also, there is quite a long bumpy gravel road that you need to take to get there. I would not recommend to family or friends as simply put there are a lot of places with better value for money to choose from.

The GPS coordinates in the adbversion/website were traffic and Kobus gave new ones and I still got lost, that was my problem. I was able to take a nice bath again and enjoy the view of the river and drink my iced Coke. Overall, this is a stay that can be highly recommended.
We were delighted. It's a beautiful, quiet environment and perfect to recharge the batteries for the last part of the year. We really relaxed and it was good to be without any technology and things in the world (there is not really proper cellphone signal or WiFI in the cottage). The cottage is beautifully decorated and makes you feel at home. We will definitely make a turn again.

The peace and quiet Die Pondhuis offers is remarkable. At night you'll only hear the wind and the hooting of an owl. The fireplace inside makes it cosy enough to enjoy a glass of wine and some card games. Everything was clean and neat, with a beautiful English cottage feel to it. The view was breathtaking and reminded me of a painting on the veranda. We'll definitely visit Die Pondhuis again!

The view it beautiful and the farm is so tranquil. There's almost no cellphone signal and it was a proper break form the city life. I will recommend it.
The cottage is well equipped for self-catering.
Toilet wouldn't flush. Not a soul in site. Had to drive to the staff quarters and picked up two staff members to take us to the other farm house where we asked for assistance. The farm was deserted over the weekend. No security. Doors couldn't lock and no info on contact details should we have an emergency. Seriously disappointed.
Upon our arrival on the farm, it was clear: here everything is peaceful but organised. The house is very neatly equipped. The fireplace was immediately tested and it wasn't long until the house was warm and the fire ready for the meat. It was nice to hear the sounds of the night and not of the traffic. We slept great and were woken up by the birds and the farm activities. Cellphone reception is very limited, but it's not the end of the world. The most beautiful sunset.

We enjoyed the visit incredibly! We arrived there in the evening and were pleasantly surprised in the morning by how beautiful and peaceful it is. We also had a lot of fun with Sally and Pippa, the 2 beautiful farm animals who looked after us all weekend and visited with us and our little baby.
