The hostess was friendly on arrival and the room was clean and neat. It had all the basics that we required for an overnight stay. The room was tastefully decorated with antique furniture and as a quilter myself, the beautiful king-size handmade quilt on the bed was a bonus. Our only complaint was that the light shining through the high window above the headboard side of the room, disturbed our sleep. Perhaps the owners could put a blind on that window, along with the curtain. We can otherwise recommend Die Pophuis Hoekie.
The Wednesday night was better as on Saturday we received no information about the power, no lamp or candle etc. not, but on Wednesday it was better and we did receive it. Luckily we had a lamp. Since we only needed it for an overnight stay it wasn't a problem. The security is only the security guard, but both were friendly and helpful. We originally wanted to book a room only, but we were "upgraded" to a unit that was too big for us when we saw upon arrival there were rooms available?
Accommodation was neat and the service was excellent. Will definitely recommend.

Had a great time around the fire. Place is neat and clean. I know challenge is big these days with power and water in all villages. Water pressure was terribly poor for showering or bathing. But there is extra water placed in case water supply is off. Thank you very much for that. And thanks to the lovely hostess who made us feel at home. Will go back again.

We have stayed here so many times on the way to the Cape, and each time we feel equally positive. It really feels like a home away from home, and the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful which just makes it a very pleasant experience. It's always clean, the cottages/rooms are so homely furnished, the security is great and the whole setup just makes for a nostalgic experience and we will definitely go back again.
The water pressure in the shower was very weak, maybe just look at it, otherwise very friendly staff, security good.

No hot water. Power is only turned on from 5 to 7 in the afternoon, and for the winter it does not work. My geyser was off somewhere and wasn't turned on until half past 7 in the evening. Unable to bathe at all, the little one washed with a kettle of water.

We were overwhelmed by the Karoo hospitality and the homely, quaint cottages which provide an instant feeling of relaxation since our first stay-over. We return time and again and are never disappointed. It truly is a home away from home.

The Pophuis Hoekie is an ideal stay over in Victoria West, beautiful and big suites with self-catering facilities, our unit had a little fenced courtyard and there's a communal parking space with surrounding garden for pooches to sniff around.

We were very kindly welcomed by Chrisna. She was also kind enough to provide us with extra milk as the shops close at 12 noon on a Saturday in Victoria West. Unfortunately, load shedding occurred twice during the night and early morning. However, it is not due to the guest house and we were provided with extra lamps. Guest house is comfortably equipped.

We traveled with our puppy and already with reservation Tannie Koeks offered to give us the Dollhouse itself, because it is fenced. Little did we know it was a fully equipped two bedroom cottage! It was lovely to unpack and relax there after the long drive. We ate at Ka'Roux that night and it was just such a delicious experience. Definitely recommend.

We only stayed one night on our way to Pretoria. It was a nice quiet place with very friendly service. Rooms and bathrooms were very clean. Unfortunately, we had to wash the dishes and cutlery before we could use them, because they were still dirty. Would consider staying there again.

To start with, Tannie Koeks is the most bubbly and hospitable person we have ever encountered. It was extremely hot but het personality was 10 times warmer. The unit is spacious and well located, and in quiet area. Of course, the air conditioning in the unit was a welcome surprise. Splashed in the splash pool. Thank you also for the recommendation of the restaurant (just sorry they were closed for business that night). Will visit again anytime. PS: Sorry that our aunt ripped the pen off, but it was placed back again.

We had a good night in a cosy apartment at Die Pophuis Hoekie. We were warmly welcomed, there are nice warm knee blankets and a heater to ward off the worst cold. There are also electric blankets on the bed. The only criticism I have is that although it is a self-catering unit, there is no hot water supply in the kitchen. We were able to overcome the problem by boiling water in the kettle.
The air conditioning in room 2 was not working and the shower head needs attention. However, the accommodation was still very comfortable and tidy, with friendly service.

The place is ideally situated on the road to Cape Town. Really very nice sleep. The water is a problem if you want a warm shower. We were warned in advance that the pipes freeze in winter.

Die Pophuis Hoekie is not bad accommodation, but does not have the same standards as a few years ago. Very average.
It's always great at the Pophuis Hoekie - a fantastic choice to sleep over on the long road. We stayed in the Pop House, which was perfect for us and the three dogs. Petro was professional and friendly. Security excellent. Appreciate the coffee, tea, milk and biscuits.

Tannie Koeks is an absolute gem. She received us as if she knew us for years and made us feel so welcome and comfortable. We travel with our two beagles, and she went out of her way to accommodate our dogs and put us at ease. She also gave us information on what to do and where to eat, etc. The accommodation itself was fantastic, everything you might need and very neat and clean. Would definitely recommend the place.

We arrived long before check-in time, but were kindly received and allowed. The hostess even offered us her car after we had already moved in with our own car. She said we could get anything we needed from her. She was able to tell us many things about the environment and way of life there and surprised us with a beautiful and comfortable unit with heater and warm blankets. It rained while we were there. The roof leaks in the kitchen above the sink. The water splashes the world. The ceiling is already rotten from the leak and looks like it will collapse at any moment. The kitchen sink plug is too small and all the water runs out.

Unfortunately our stay was for a Sunday night and Victoria West closes on Sundays. No places to eat available, luckily we located a motor port that could at least sell us 2 pies!
Enjoyed the stay, just unfortunate that there wasn't that much water. They might consider investing in Jojo tanks for when the town experiences a drought. Would stay there again.
Even though Pophuis Hoekie is always clean and neat, some of the things were boken even after we reported it last year. The cold-water tap in the bathroom was out of order.

Bedding was not up to standard. Toilet did not flush completely. Photos on website were misleading - expected more from the place. Traffic was very disturbing all night and as a result we decided to leave at five o'clock.

Accommodation comprises 7 renovated Karoo units and 3 en-suite rooms. The 3 en-suite rooms are not fully equipped for self-catering, but kettles, fridges and microwaves are provided. Deep freeze facilities are available on request - please enquire at reception.
On-site facilities include a braai area, pet friendly and secure parking. Lights are switched on in the safe parking area at night and a security guard is on patrol on the premises from 07:00 to 19:00 each day.
