The facilities are off the hook. Even my friends were impressed. The only problem was that I only had 1 night to stay, now I wish I booked for more.
We were wanting to escape the noise of the city and look for places to stay in Betty's Bay. Instead we found 'Die Rotse' in Kleinmond through a random Google result. What a happy accident it turned out to be. This gem is well worth a visit. The host is incredibly kind, accommodating and so welcoming. Then the accommodation is beautiful. Every room is so tastefully decorated and you have all the comforts of home. The only thing you need to remember to pack is your clothes and some food. The attention to detail is incredible. Every effort is made to make the visitor feel welcome. Then there is the location. It can't be beaten. Walking distance (even with a 3yr old) from everything and anything you want to do: beach, restaurant, rock pool exploring, romantic walk, canoe or rowboat hiring (cash only), etc. The view is postcard-worthy. Die Rotse is the gift that keeps on giving. My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. We had two small children with us and I think their response sums up the experience very nicely: "Mommy we never want to leave". Our 3 yr old has told everyone it is better than our house.
The Rotse Host House remains tops.

"Die Rotse" was a very pleasant surprise. It offered everything one seeks in a self-catering unit, including privacy backed up by non-intrusive assistance and service.
The accommodation is clean, tidy and very well equipped which makes long stay holidays easier, especially if you are holidaying with small children.

The best accommodation regarding neatness, hospitality, view, safety and location. The owners have a fine touch, even gave us fresh fruit, coffee, tea, sugar, milk and braai wood, even though it's self-catering. Highly satisfied and recommendable!

We were a family of 5 and had a great time at 'Die Rotse'. The host, Werner, was friendly and contacted in advance. He also waited until very late for our arrival and was super helpful in making sure we were settled in and comfortable. The apartment, 'Drievis', was well equipped with everything needed for a self-catering unit. During our stay the host was always available and more than willing to take care of our additional needs. We are happy to recommend Die Rotse Self-catering Units to prospective customers.
We had a great stay. As a family with little ones I would just recommend plastic ware like cups and plates to be added to the unit.
Werner, the host was very friendly and helpful. 'Die Rotse' Host House is excellently located with good security. The unit was very neat, but not serviced. For the price one would expect the unit to be serviced daily.
We rented both apartments for one night and found them clean and tidy in the ideal position in the heart of Kleinmond. For tall people like us, the beds were a bit small but comfortable. The TV does not have DStv but a selection of movies to choose from.
Much better advertised than in reality, regarding how clean it is and decor. Can be beautiful with a little effort.

We were pleasantly surprised by the wonderful accommodation. Very relaxing, lovely for the kids, open spaces to run. And walking distance to the sea and hiking trail, and sea view.
We haven't stayed in such a well equipped place for a long time. The view is great and we were spoiled with whales right in front of our apartment. The host was very friendly and even gave us info abobut what to see where. Parking is very safe. We will definitely go again.

Without hesitation it was the best part with the most enjoyable stay of our entire holiday in February. Nothing was missing. What a privilege it was for us to be welcomed with a smile and hospitality from Namibia in the weary early hours of the morning. Nothing was too much trouble for Uncle Werner. He really carried us on his hands. How he accommodated us with our 2 sausage children and was patient with them is a sweet memory. The word 'thank you' is just a modest word of our appreciation for the time there. The shells and pumpkins got a special place in the house. We wholeheartedly recommend this gem of a place to anyone who appreciates the peace and quiet it offers! (But actually we want to keep the secret to ourselves.) Longing greetings.
Wonderful welcome and advice on places to buy cookies, medical care, etc. Fantastic master bedroom bed - very comfortable. A nice surprise to receive some laundry soap to wash clothes with, as well as a free car wash. The location is fantastic, only a short walk to the beach, and can otherwise just walk down the footpath to the rocks to escape.
We recently spent 5 days in the Spykerklip unit of Die Rotse Host House. I give Spykerklip a golden five-star award, as follows: One star for the view from the balcony (and bedroom) of the sea and rocks. Star 2 for the view of the mountains from the kitchen windows (it's nice to wash dishes!). Star 3 for the completeness with which the unit is equipped. It has everything you could need, and in style, nice braai area, enough cutlery and all those little things that make a difference. Star 4 for the location - nice close to the sandy beach, walking distance to the shops, nice walking paths along the sea to the harbor and in a quiet street. And the grandest and brightest star 5 for Werner - a host of a thousand. Thank you so much for being so concerned about us, all your advice and recommendations and interest. This accommodation is highly recommended.

Die Rotse is definitely not a 4-star guest house. Although the unit is clean and tidy, there are certain aspects that bother. The furniture is authentic and the equipment needs an update. It will certainly be an asset to the unit. The owner, Werner, was extremely helpful and received us kindly.

There was plenty of room, and no stairs which was good for us with small children. The lawn leading to the sea was wonderful, and we enjoyed breakfast in front of the sea. The house is ideal for the beach and for walking along the rocks. The service was very good, and the facilities were well laid out.
The house has one of the best locations in Kleinmond, central to the beach, shop and most importantly directly on the seaside. Werner and his wife fulfill every requirement even before you need ask.

Warm and welcoming hosts who really go the extra mile to ensure you enjoy your stay at Die Rotse. The house is clean and tidy and so well equipped you really don't need to take a thing with you apart from your clothes. It's great for young and old and our family really had a wonderful stay.
I travel extensively with my family for holiday - primarily the Western and Eastern Cape regions. To-date the 'Die Rotse' establishment has been the most perfect for my family. My kids enjoyed themselves in the expansive grounds of the property - and to the nearby beach and rocks outlook. you are literally less than 2 minutes away from the sea! We also invited our friends (a large family with children) over for a Braai - they were so impressed with the establishment - I'm sure they will also book themselves in when next in Kleinmond/Hermanus. Lastly, the host - Werner Pauw, is fun to be with - he has great stories to tell and valuable insights into the commercial-economic-political landscape of the African continent having travelled and worked in various countries in the continent. We are definitely staying with them when next we visit the Kleinmond/Hermanus/Gansbaai area!
The guest house is truly everything we hoped for. The unit was very well equipped, a stone's throw from the sea and walking distance to the beach. We were also impressed with the welcome email from the host which very clearly and personally contained all the information we would need. The welcome was very friendly and I can recommend the place without a doubt.
