9 guests' feedbackOur stay was lovely, beautiful farm and charming cottage.
What a lovely escape! The cottage is so quaint and cosy and has everything you need to be warm and comfy. The photos do not do this cottage justice! Beautiful walks, lovely swims in icy water. Felt like a real reset. The hosts are so welcoming and helpful, they even took us on a long walk on Sunday to find some pools to swim in. The host was also great at helping us with all the things to do in Sutherland. We want to come back!
Words fail to describe an enjoyable time. There is everything one needs and the different glasses (which are normally neglected) were enough for the normal drinks. Everything that one would normally need has been thought of. All this contributed to a wonderful time at Die Skooltjie. The information about the history of Die Skooltjie was a great point of conversation. The friendliness compliments the Karoo. The quiet and the beautiful cannot be emphasized enough. This is a must visit place!
Very nice. Very good hostess. Beautiful place.
What a beautiful cottage in the middle of the karoo. Very peaceful and quiet with a lovely mountain view. The perfect place to rest and recharge. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Die Skooltjie is such a fantastic little gem of a place. Loved the wood burning oven and scenery. Thank you Hanlie and Thys for a great little cottage for the two days we spent there. Thank you Thys for the directions to go on the "Ouberg pass" it was absolutely worth it. We will see you again one day when we come down to explore more of the fabulous Tankwa.
Although it was cold, wet and snowy, we enjoyed our holes out. The coal stove burned all day. It was a privilege to experience the history of the Heyns family and The School. Thys and Hanlie's hospitality, especially with the home-baked bun and Lena who only brings wood. We didn't even get to the farm with its beautiful scenery. Will definitely have to go back.
We had a wonderful long-weekend stay, even getting engaged under the lone kokerboom on the hilltop. Thys and Hanlie were such warm and welcoming hosts, happy to help with directions and recommendations, and firewood to counter the evening chill. They have a wealth of knowledge about the farm and surrounding areas, and appear happy and eager to share the space and the experience. The location is perfect. Far enough off the beaten track, yet accessible by car and equipped with everything you could ask for.
Hanlie and Thys' farm is wonderfully secluded, but accessible from Sutherland's road. Great cycling route to the original homestead on the farm, nice walking route. We had a wonderful rest. Hanlie and Thys are comfortable and friendly hosts. The cottage is filled with history. Everything is there, down to enough blankets for the winter cold. Well equipped with solar power and fantastic coal stove for heat. Have a great time!
