The ceilings are high and the walls were constructed out of unfired mud bricks. The building style was typical of the period, and the result is a cool house in the hot summer months and a warm house in winter. The shutters are still used to regulate the indoor temperature.
The typical farmhouse can accommodate up to 10 guests and comprises 3 bedrooms with percale linen and bath towels. The main bedroom, Ostrich, has a king-size bed, a bunk bed, a cupboard, and a dresser. The second bedroom, springbok, has a double bed, a cupboard, and an en-suite bathroom with a shower, basin and toilet. This room leads through the bar into the courtyard. The third bedroom, Meerkat, leads onto the wrap-around verandah and has a double bed, a cupboard, and an en-suite bathroom with a bath, basin and shower. There is a double sleeper couch in the dining room. There is also a separate bathroom with a toilet, basin and a shower over the vintage bath.
The large dining room is in the centre of the house and can seat 10 guests, this is the ideal place to entertain. The lounge features a fireplace and leads onto the veranda. The kitchen has a cosy seating area and a fireplace for those cold winter nights. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, a stove, a microwave, a coffee machine, a steamer, a dishwasher and a washing machine, as well as cutlery, crockery and glassware. There is also a braai grid, tongs and potjie pots.
The courtyard is accessed from the kitchen on the one side and the bar on the other. It is fully enclosed by a high wall. Here, guests can enjoy the star-filled night sky from the built-in seating area, with a fire pit.
The house also offers an undercover braai and entertainment area, and is equipped with an alarm system, Wi-Fi, and TV in the kitchen with Netflix only. Guests also have access to off-street parking.
A perfect place to star-gazing is situated next to the splash pool in the garden, where there is also an undercover seating area with an outdoor Dover stove.
Wifi is available.

21 guests' feedbackThank you very much. We had a great stay and will definitely stay there again.
Was for a family visit to Calitzdorp.
This quirky home has more than what is needed. Sally provided loads of information on the area and we were met by our friendly "gatekeeper" Frans. Definitely worth a return visit.
The beautiful old house is neat and well equipped. It is within walking distance of good restaurants. Secure parking.
It's a beautiful setting, the village tucked between the mountains, absolutely picturesque.
Have a great time and relax. The privacy was a bonus and the house is comfortable and decor beautiful. We will definitely want to come again.
We had fun going wine tasting on a warm spring day. We were kindly received by Frans and immediately went to cool off in the pool! The facilities are perfect. We will go again for sure!
We were a group of mountain bikers who tackled the Cross Cape cycle route and the accommodation facilities at Die Stoep in Calitzdorp suited our needs ideally. Special thanks to Frans who arranged all our catering on request and Sally for the accommodation arrangements. We will definitely stay there again!
Very pleasantly surprised with all the space and facilities. Will go again with friends or family.
The house is within walking distance of shops, restaurants. Please visit De Krans and Boplaas for delicious wines.
Die Stoep offers everything and more. It was like a homecoming. Every possible need has been catered for, air conditioning in all 3 rooms, fans in the rest of the rooms, a well equipped kitchen with anything one could need, a cute bar, wonderful courtyard with long picnic table and covered barbecue, swimming pool with separate table, so I can go on for a very long time. For sure we will stay at Die Stoep every time we visit this beautiful town. The house was also very clean and we were warmly welcomed by Frans.
Very nice family home.
We were looking for accommodation for about 6 people and Die Stoep met this need perfectly. The neighbour, Shirley was extremely helpful and positive and did a lot to positively influence our whole group's attitude. The house is tidy and we found everything we needed.
Spacious, clean house with enough play space and small pool. Comfortable rooms, enough bathrooms and comfortable beds. The area was quiet throughout the night and the house is very safe with off street parking for our vehicle. Coincidentally, the swimming area has an outside power point which is very convenient for plugging in a camping fridge overnight.
The stoep is truly a beautiful, clean and tidy house. The house is very spacious. The service is also fantastic.
Thank you so much for a wonderful visit to Die Stoep. It is a lovely family home and still has its unique Karoo home rooms, shutters and high ceilings. The courtyard with braai is absolutely fantastic! We had a great time here, despite rain. Communication with the owner was excellent. Everything was nice and clean.
I am a facilitator and work all over the country. Have stayed in so many beautiful places. But Die Stoep was truly the best place I have ever stayed. I took my mother and puppy with me and both were obsessed with the beautiful house. We will definitely stay there again.
Een zeer groot en mooi ingericht huis met alle comfort. Leuk zwembadje.
Fantastic house, fantastic reception and communication. The place to book in Calitzdorp. Great for a large group of friends.
