We had a wonderful stay at Die Tuin Hekkie! The accommodation is fantastically furnished with everything you need, and luxurious extras (including a plunger for good coffee and a pan that bakes cookies effortlessly!). The host gave us a warm welcome and communication was easy. The unit also has a beautiful outdoor area that is completely private from the main residence. We could have stayed days longer!

We were kindly received by the host, and communication was good. Die Tuin Hekkie offers excellent, luxurious accommodation in an open-plan self-catering unit with everything to make your stay comfortable and convenient. The unit was very clean and the electrical equipment was of very good quality. The fridge was nice and big and had fresh water and milk in it. On the fridge was an LED light that you can use as an emergency light. The kitchen has a gas stove and oven, which makes it easy for you if there is loadshedding, to still make food, a microwave oven, a toaster, an electric kettle as well as a kettle for the gas stove. There were crockery such as plates, cups, glasses and Leo thought of every "utility" to ensure you a very comfortable stay. If you thought of something, it was in the drawer. Coffee, tea, sugar and filter coffee were provided and don't forget the home-baked cookies (were very tasty, thank you). There were extra treats such as oil, salt and pepper and spices which was a luxury, as one very rarely gets in a self-catering unit. There was a table and chairs to eat at and also an air conditioner. The lounge area had a comfortable couch with a TV (no DStv) we didn't turn the TV on and a gas fireplace. There was also port/sherry, we didn't drink it, with 2 glasses. There were nice information sheets and reading material to read about the area. The story of how the Garden Heckie's name came about was cute and special for the host to share with his guests. The bed had a king size mattress, which slept very well. Quality white linen on the bed and a far duvet that was nice and warm to sleep under, as well as a large electrical multiplug on both sides of the bed, with USB ports, 3-prong and 2-prong places for you to charge your mobile phone and other electrical equipment. The bathroom has a large shower with a rainshower, we had a nice shower with hot water, which was soon warm. There was soap in the shower as well as hand soap and hand cream at the sink. Large white hand and bath towels were provided. A full-length mirror on the wall that our women really appreciate, as well as a plug and a hair dryer with a long cord that makes it so convenient to dry your hair. Outside there was a "fire pit" and also place to grill on a Weber if you wanted, and a table and chairs to sit by under the tree. There are many birds and it's nice to listen to them. WiFi was provided and worked well, there was also parking for your car on site in the driveway. Our dogs traveled with us and it was special to see that Leo thought of them too with 2 water bowls and a bed to lay in, they were just fine in that lol. We can recommend the Tuin Hekkie as excellent self-catering accommodation and we will be going back again soon.

Beautiful private flatlet accurately depicted on the website. Attention to detail was noted. Comfortable, spacious, with a lovely bathroom, soft cosy bed, and braai facilities, and swimming pool. The host was very welcoming and friendly, and available for assistance at all times. I was able to braai and enjoy the full movie package on the entertainment system after dinner.

It was awfully nice. Everything you could possibly need is there. The host and hostess were very friendly and helpful. The tranquility of the surroundings makes you not want to go home.

The accommodation was well equipped, the open plan space is large with a private patio braai area. It is within walking distance to wine tasting and at least two restaurants.

Home away from home, you could stay for a month! The pictures do it justice, offers all the amenities and previous reviews of the little extras make it extra special. We used the Weber braai in our own secluded section of the garden, and they even had seasoning salt in the cottage. Everything looks like new and is in good working order. Great shower, warm comfortable bed, and great WiFi. Very quiet, you really don’t know that you are sharing the property with the owners.

We enjoyed the stay. Enjoyed the pool. Had everything we needed for self-catering purposes, even briquettes and fire starters for braai. Even during load shedding, they have a backup generator so TV, lights, etc. still remain fully functional. The hosts are truly amazing, and their willingness to make us feel comfortable and at home is nothing short of amazing. We loved their couch, and the quality of room fixtures was very satisfying. The all-round design was much appreciated.

100% comfortable, especially with the little things that one normally doesn't bring with for a 2-night stay. Hairdryer, salt & pepper, cooking oil etc. Thoroughly accessible, private and wish we had had an opportunity to use the fire pit. The birds in the garden were an added bonus. Highly recommended.

The unit is particularly neat and fantastically furnished with everything you need and a few extras that you don't necessarily expect, but which are a pleasant surprise (like e.g. milk in the fridge and toothpicks!). Leo is extremely friendly and helpful and was the perfect host. If we ever have to stay in the area again, we will definitely stay at Die Tuin Hekkie again.

Their place is very well equipped, clean and a comfortable place for 2 people looking for a break away from the Cape. The furniture, decor and fixtures also have a modern, yet homely feel to them. The area in general is peaceful and the views are quite something to write home about. All this, coupled with helpfulness and hospitality, will definitely attract us back here soon.

"Die Tuin hekkie allowed us to check in earlier than what we were supposed to. We were greeted on arrival by friendly faces. Mr. Leo showed us around and also gave us some information on activities to do in the surrounding areas. There's a map for guests to use if need be. The WiFi password was messaged to us after he left us to our stay. There are shops nearby if you need something. We had complete privacy throughout our stay, and they were kind enough to let us check out later than usual."

The photos really do not do this cute space justice. The layout is absolutely stunning and you get a sense of peace looking at the surroundings and listening to the birds in the garden. The owners are an absolute pleasure to co-ordinate with and super easy to talk to and were very helpful at all times. They even helped with providing a location pin when I was travelling there. All that you need is in the proximity of about a 3-5 minute drive. I will definitely visit again!

Very well equipped, neat, private, quiet and peaceful. Match the ad. Leo communicated all the time, which made the stay pleasant and easy. Big plus for us was that our Chihuahua, Billy, could also stay. There was even a cot and bowls set out for him. We will definitely stay here again.

The town of Clarens is really a great place to go and visit, however the town of Riebeek Kasteel comes very close to the ambiance of Clarens. Staying at 'Die Tuin Hekkie', in Riebeek-Wes (5 kms from Riebeek Kasteel) you get a feel of just being outside of the 'hustle and bustle' but close enough to enjoy the town. However, what really sets this apart from Clarens is all the wine estates and olive farms that you can travel to quite easily. Die Tuin Hekkie is the ideal place to spend a week away, using this as a hub while you travel around the region.

Leo was particularly nice and helpful. The unit is very tidy with all kinds of treats, such as milk in the fridge, nice channels on the TV, and cookies. All that bothered me was that I couldn't exactly sit outside on the porch - Leo poured fertilizer and the smell was just unpleasant. I would recommend that he not do this if guests are expected. Furthermore: great!
