239 guests' feedbackHad a wonderful stay at Eden Lodge, definitely a place to get away from the city. Kids enjoyed the pool. I love that it's not crowded. Wonderful staff. Thank you to the receptionist, and the ladies that take care of the premises - we will be back.
Will definitely stay there again the customer service was great, it's quiet and peaceful.
Slept very well after a long journey from Gordons Bay in the Cape.
Had a great stay and will definitely stay there again.
Perfect for a stay over on a long journey. Safe parking, friendly staff.
Very good. Will make use of them again.
BASIC ACCOMODATION. No cuttelery to eat with or even spoons. The aircon in the spare room was not working. . The lighst in the lamps not working. . It needs maintenace to be a perfect lodge.
We slept well on the firm mattress. Didn't really stay long enough to make any other comments.
There may be convenience for the boiler not to use the bathroom sink.
No backup power for loadshedding. No burglar door. Old bed. White sheets and towels.
Clean and tidy. It's ready for a sleepover.
Just not too far from the national road and had no blankets at all, just a thin 2nd old duvet like on the bed. Receptionist just put key in hand, no conversation.
There was no warm water for swimming. The restaurant's food made us all sick and the service was very poor. As well as the beds were very hard and were very uncomfortable.
Very bad experience. No water as no one turned on the pump and they keep saying they are sending someone out but it never happened. Leftover food and things from previous guests were still in the fridge. TV doesn't work.
Basic place. Restaurant then closed at 6 o'clock the night we got there due to a holiday, then had to drive to another place to eat. Had no water the night we wanted to bathe. Called but no one came to sort it out. Didn't get water until the next morning after I called again. We were tired after a long day on the road and would have liked a hot bath. Place was not very clean, cobwebs and anthills. Beds were acceptable for 1 night. Outside the pool it was also dirty, drink bottles were everywhere.
Drain was full of hair. Header destroyed. Paper thin walls! Ice cold food at silly prices. Never again.
The place is neat and clean and well furnished. Unfortunately, the bathroom fan draws the smoke from the guests next door into your unit, causing me to still struggle with my sinuses 2 days later.
The other thing that was also amazing, the travelling agent was very helpful, I will really make use of the service again.
We could just feel that the staff at Diggies Lodge care about their guests' comfort, even though we didn't have much to do with them. Everything was available for a wonderful stay.
I sleep over in guest houses quite often. Travel for business. Few guesthouses have good and reliable WiFi. At Diggies, I was able to sit down and work without having to deal with slow internet. Very nice restaurant. Ice cold beer.
See stars.
Everything was fine, until a deafening thud-thud of drumming started in the restaurant in the evening. If you drove from Johannesburg to Kimberley, and tomorrow you want to drive further to the Cape, you want peace and quiet.
Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for quiet and just wanting to recharge a bit. Stay place is well equipped and well located.
The restaurant on the premises was an added advantage. Unfortunately, we were there on a Friday night and there was a lot of noise.
Spacious and comfortable, nice restaurant!
Have a nice time thank you.
Clean and tidy. Ideal overnight stop.
It was okay, just for overnight I would recommend it, but for staying overnight for 2 days or more, no. The Lodge has no control over their guests. I know it was New Years, but some of the guests didn't consider other guests who did want to sleep. The pool and hangout area was right next to our room and they were allowed to play loud music and hang out until after 2 that morning.
The room was not fully prepared, they didn't lock doors after day cleaner was there. Furthermore, it complied with my overnight stay and reception was friendly.
Rooms are neat, air conditioning works well, TV, kettle and fridge included, but there is no DStv as advertised, only Openview, and WiFi codes that gave reception did not work.
Neat, very good food.
Diggies Lodge rooms very neat and clean. Here are some thoughts: It would be better to replace the two three-quarter beds with one double bed. The bridge formed in the middle by the sides of the three-quarter beds makes it not nice to sleep in the middle. With the restaurant, during the night there was one person who spun his vehicle's wheels terribly. I understand that what people do may not be completely controlled by Diggies Lodge, but still the sleeping residents must be respected as well. A rubber mat in the shower will help prevent slipping in the shower. These are not negative comments, maybe just thoughts to think about. Thank you very much.
Rooms were clean and tidy and staff very helpful. This was literally just a place to sleep for us. The noise from the bar area with young people was quite a disturbance.
The place is neat but the dance place and bar right next door which is part of Diggies makes it impossible to get a good night's rest. Shower's water dams up. Restaurant unprepared for Friday nights, no stock.
The guests of the bar, made noise until 02:00 in the morning, with music and motorcycle could not get a real good night's rest. There weren't even teaspoons with the cups to mix coffee. The room smelled of smoke, finally could only open the window for the smell. For someone who wants to sleep over after the long road, I wouldn't simply recommend spending the night there over a weekend. But my child swam well.
Well aware that when you pay R590 a night for a room, you would expect something good to come from it, not the best. When we arrived, there was no-one at reception, a gent popped in and said that someone would assist shortly. A lady walked in, did not greet us at all, went around the desk to a table against the wall, asked when we booked and surnames with her back to us. This should have already given an indication as to what was coming. She handed us a piece of paper with no explanation, when I asked, she said it was for the Wi-Fi. My question till now is, WHAT WI-FI? The late night music is so bad, that it feels like it is in your room. When the music finally subsides, the visitors in the other rooms return from where they were enjoying the music and the noise continues. Floors are cold, especially for winter. Shower head sprays water all over the walls except down. Ants by the kettle and coffee area. Room smelled like urine. No hairdryer in room. The bathroom door closes from the room and when you go to get some of the water droplets from the shower, you freeze in and out of the bathroom. My food at the restaurant was good, but my colleague asked for medium-well steak, they brought it rare, not once, twice. She ended up paying and not eating. Perhaps this is more like a bit of an upgrade on a backpackers overnight. Definitely not for business travel. The grounds and property really lovely, but the stay was terrible. The roads to Kimberley are terrible. So when you do arrive at your destination, you expect to relax, in a calm environment, this Lodge needs some love and attention in the sense of a warm welcome, warm rooms, a warm shower and everything it advertises but does not have.
The place is cute and the facilities are good, but not very clean at all.
Welcome was good. Restaurant's food was excellent. Rooms really not good. Room smelled of smoke. Bedding looks worn. No teaspoons at coffee bar. Asked for teaspoons and now still waiting. Toilet/bathroom smells bad. Please also watch out for bed bugs. Not a good sleepover at all.
If you are traveling for work or want to stay overnight because you may be tired, this is not the place for you. The room not very nice, floor is cement, no carpets. Boiler not working and dirty inside. No DStv, just Openview, not as advertised. No shower gel, just an unattractive bottle of hand soap. The music was so loud until 2am the next morning, couldn't sleep at all. After 2 hours, people came back from the "Restaurant" and made loud noise and sounded like fighting. No, the place won't see me again, doesn't even deserve one star as a lodge, not even close, just dorms. Showers also spray everywhere, clearly this is not provided. Thank you.
The staff was aware that we might not stay for 2 nights, got told they will refund us, and now they have blocked us. They are a bunch of liars, told us that the company must refund us. You are all a bunch of liars. I will be taking it further and the company will never see me again.
No one on the premises could assist. The reception was all locked up. This was time wasted to perform some site seeing really bad. After being helped by unexperienced crew it was discovered that the room shower facilities had mould on and were not in a good state. Overall experience? I will not recommend this place to anyone so please reconsider when you want to use them as your overnight stay.
It is a place to visit, and in the evenings the restaurant becomes a lively place and it's rock hard music. You struggle to get into the premises, because there are only drunk people and cars everywhere. The place is unclean and bedding looks like it has been used for years and washed out. They only clean upstairs and very dirty, shower and faucets are dirty and moldy. Will never stay there again. Nothing worth my money.
Everything you need for a short stay on your way to another destination.
There were only trash cans.
The restaurant at the place was amazing. Both my wife and I ate very well. My food was so good that I didn't even want to complain about the steak being a little more on the cooked side than I asked for. I was skeptical on arrival that the place would be noisy throughout the night, but was pleasantly surprised. Thank you guys. Great job.
Friendly reception, room very tidy, very safe. Would recommend anyone to stay there.
Our granddaughter enjoyed the pool area and the food was excellent value for money.
Spent two nights here, beautiful place with friendly people. The rooms were clean and the premises are very safe. Also had a great time in the restaurant. We will definitely stay here again.
Everything went smoothly. The service was friendly and great!
The reception and check-in was friendly and fast. The room was neat and clean and the air conditioning was an absolute blessing. Having secure parking in a gated area that could not be seen from the road was an added peace of mind.
Restaurant was nice to eat.
Was very disappointed as we were riding motorbikes. The place specifically chosen for their restaurant and bar. Loadshedding from 18h00 to 20h00 then they close everything. Could make a plan.
The best part was the restaurant and the showers. We recommend visiting the bar and ordering some food. The staff were friendly and fun, the food was great and the shower afterwards was bliss. The rooms are small and the walls thin, but otherwise we had everything we needed and a good night's sleep.
Had a great time, nice barbecue area and swimming pool to cool off. Although restaurant is very busy, it is quiet at sleeping place. Cars are parked under awnings, very grateful. Many thanks to the ladies who made sure that our rooms were nice and fresh and clean when we returned from our visits.
The place's maintenance definitely needs urgent attention from the residential units.
Enjoyed a lot. Good restaurant and friendly staff.
Resturant also provides good food and staff is very friendly. No breakfast at this stage but just outside Diggies Lodge down the street there is a nice place for breakfast.
Would not stay here more than one night.
Met need.
No complaints. Restaurant has very good food.
Nice stay. Music in the evening is a bit loud.
Overnight was comfortable, clean. We enjoyed it.
Music from the restaurant that shakes you out of bed!
Lodge is right next to the restaurant so music from the bar/lounge area was unfortunately audible. If it wasn't for the fact that "curfew" was at 22:00 and therefore music stopped just after 21:00 it would definitely have been disturbing. Linen was clean but a bit worn and the black fabric chairs in rooms had stains/marks on them. Restaurant's food and service were very good as well as reception.
Easy one night stay but wouldn't recommend to anyone.
Didn't feel particularly clean and the restaurant plays loud music until late at night and again early the next morning (on a Sunday!). It was raining a lot and the roof in the room was leaking. Probably suitable for a single person, but not for a family.
The restaurant's food is very tasty.
On a busy road, not a residential area. Had a noisy restaurant on the site.
Everything was very clean and tidy and the staff very friendly. Next door, however, is a place to visit. When we entered in the evening the parking lot in front of the gate was full of people and vehicles and even inside the lodge there were also vehicles parked with loud music and noisy guests until the early hours of the morning. Yesterday morning we were also greeted by equally loud music.
Weak Wi-Fi. No microwave. Cleanliness could improve.
Not the best location. Just after 4 there were no more staff available. Huisie was just so-so and will not simply sleep over there again.
The room smelled musty, the couches and pillows were dirty, the shower was dirty. Would not recommend to anyone. We stayed in places that were cheaper than that place and it was much better.
The pool was out of order, after we had booked the place for the pool. Our reservation got mixed up with someone else's, after our reservation was reconfirmed with us a few days before our arrival. The rooms look dirty and I would not recommend the place to anyone at all. What is shown in the photos and what one gets are not the same at all. The photos create a misperception of the place. It was a long weekend, and there weren't any staff on duty who really knew what was going on or how to help us. It was a very bad experience overall.
Tolite dirty tap where to turn open, in shower dirty, can see cleaned very long ago. Bed probably 30 years old. Aircon not working TV battery in remote pap. Room had funny smell. Never again in my life will I go there.
Very nice to spend the night there. The air conditioner was a plus which helps with the hot weather. It was nice for our disabled son too.
No teaspoon for coffee. No plug in hand sink. Some TV channels shown on their list are not available. Button at big gate did not work with exit time 06h30.
Only the supply of breakfast can included
Okay for stopover. Food is great at restaurant.
Nice swimming and eating. Will stay there again.
I really enjoyed my stay and would recommend it to my friends and family. It's quiet and relaxing where we spend quality time together which was much needed.
The only negative was that they do not serve breakfast which we were unaware of. Being a lodge and restaurant we expected to be able to have breakfast there. I think it is important to inform prospective clients before confirmation of booking that breakfast is not served at the lodge. I believe that if they were to start serving breakfasts it would increase business and repeat bookings would be more likely as you don't have to travel elsewhere to have breakfast. Further to this it saves the client time as you get full service at one venue.
Restaurant's calamari & chicken wings combo was winner. Air conditioner in room cooled body quickly to outside's 36 degrees.
Like mentioned the loud music that played until early morning hours were exhausting due to the fact of no sleep. The arrangement to collect room keys after hours were poor, needed to enter the pub where immediately some of the pub visitors started looking for scratch. After such a long drive no one is in the mood for possible assault from drunk people. Sort this out and the place would be wonderful.
I think next time I will choose a more central place to stay in Kimberley.
The lodge is clean, tidy and centrally located on the big hole and shopping centre.
Bed linen was dirty and sleep creases everywhere. Definitely not the cleanest place. Full of bite marks the next morning. There are much better out there. Not a theme bar at all. Not suitable for families on a Friday night.
Towels stink, place not clean.
Friendly service and perfectly located. Safe and clean with undercover parking.
For the price what is offered is very good, will use it again. Thank you.
I'll just ask that they also put tea in the rooms.
Restaurant is walking distance with nice meals. Room is comfortable with the basic necessities. Lodge is very nice.
Just the place to sleep agter a long journey through the Karoo. Clean, neat and safe! You can sit back and enjoy wonderful food! From now on, this will be my place to overnight!
Give them a try, it is worth it.
See stars.
Even though it was only one evening, it felt like a weekend with the tranquillity, friendliness and everything needed. The on-site restaurant is another bonus.
Neat and clean! Value for money!
I messed up the date of the overnight booking, but a very helpful and pleasant receptionist agreed to change the dates without penalty. A most enjoyable stay and a good meal at the next-door restaurant & pub! Highly recommended.
Minor glitches sorted out quickly. Clean and quiet. Will be back.
Apparently we had to ask for a bar fridge with our reservation ─ we didn't know about it and there was no more available when we asked for one at the reception. The multi-plug provided was of great help. I would recommended a carpet by the bed. Furthermore, everything is very neat and clean. Quiet and safe environment although it is slightly out of town. Reading material (information) about the town and the surrounding area may be placed in rooms, especially as there are so many historical sites in Kimberley and the surrounding area.
It's actually a guest house, but there are braai facilities. The staff even provided a small fridge for our room!
It was just a pleasure. Will stay again.
Diggies Lodge is unbelievably peaceful and the restaurant was an unbelievable experience.
Ideal for a stopover.
Restaurant's food was very good, very friendly staff.
Band noise every night, both pub and restaurant has NO non smoking area. We saw a young couple with a baby having their food packed into a take away box due to the smokey air.
The resort is very neat and clean. Feel safe. The restaurant offers delicious meals. There are sufficient braai facilities, but the room has no plates and cutlery to be able to braai. The beds in room 17 where we stayed need attention, mattresses are no longer serviceable. Coffee and tea insufficient for our two day stay. The room was otherwise neat and clean. Would have appreciated a microwave.
Had a great stay and felt safe.
The accommodation portion was 100% but unfortunately the restaurant portion is totally inaccessible to us as non-smokers. The owner has no feelings for non-smokers. The whole restaurant area was full of smokers and we were told to sit outside if we wanted to eat there.
Our time at Diggies Lodge was really worth it. We only stayed for one night, but it was possible to get a good holiday feeling there. We were able to use the facilities such as the swimming pool and braai area. Very neat and clean and maintained! Nice stay.
We were at Diggies 18 months ago and I think it has gone a bit backwards. The rooms are clean and tidy, but the neighbors sitting under your window and smelling all that stuff going into your room is not pleasant at all. Breakfast is also no longer offered.
Convenient with dining nearby without having to drive.
Very pleasantly surprised with the stay.
Our accommodation was lovely. There was only one issue. Room 3 in which we slept was clogged and so the water ran on the floor. Thank you very much!
The Lodge was good and comfortable for my purposes, I would have expected that there would be more coffee and tea, as well as a little more directions inside the Lodge, but that said, the SMS from the reception was perfect and helped me. The room was comfortable, I did expect security gates or doors.
Affordability, and clean but it could be better. Swimming needs attention - wasn't too clean.
The place was really very neat. And did not eat there - but heard the restaurant is delicious farm food.
It was okay, just wanted air-conditioning, since one can't sleep with that heat.
Slept well, lights outside a bit bad because can't open blinds, then light shines in terribly.
Room could maybe have a small fridge. Restaurant tidy with a basic menu which is better than a full one. Friendly staff. Good experience.
Enjoyed my stay, however on the last day I realised some of my items were removed from my room and later found outside. Was disappointed that their restaurant only serves lunch and supper, not breakfast! Otherwise it's neat and in a very quiet location.
Central for moving around all of Kimberley. Neat and comfortable.
They are only there until 6 pm, but they try to be accommodating by sending handy information through SMS. So even if you are traveling from the other side of the country, you have a nice place to stay at Diggies when you finally land in Kimberley.
It really is a very nice and neat place to rest for the night, would have been nice if there was something you could buy to eat or drink on a Sunday. The shops nearby are also closed early on a Sunday so it was a little difficult as we arrived later.
The stay was pleasant. We were very disappointed because the restaurant was not open and this is considered one of the benefits of booking there. There were quite a few people left who might feel the same way. We had to drive into town again to eat.
The restaurant is lovely and the food is excellent. The overnight facilities were disappointing. It was not hygienically clean and the walls and floor lacked maintenance. It would also be convenient to have a small fridge.
Have stayed there quite a few times. Have noticed that the rooms have definitely deteriorated compared to last year. Was in the family room this time and had insufficient toilet paper. Also, the restaurant was not open for breakfast. Was unsure but couldn't see anything being offered for dinner.
Only problem was during load shedding there was no water available.
The place was quite tidy and met standards, was a bit disappointed that there was no fridge in the room.
The receptionist was friendly, helpful and professional. On the other hand, the living quarters were not as good because of the reading lamp that did not function, there was no soap available and the wash basin was without a plug. Also the mat under the glasses and cups was not clean, while a less pleasant smell was present. All of the above complaints can be easily rectified and can change a "No" with respect to recommendation to a "Yes". The arrival on a Sunday afternoon was probably not a good time!
We arrived there while there was no power, no provision was made for alternatives. Further okay.
It is a very beautiful and calm place to sleep over with a pool which is clean and neat, the rooms are spacious and clean and will sleep over again anytime.
We felt at home away from home.
We were received very professionally. Oros was extremely helpful and went out of his way to make things as comfortable as possible for us. We will definitely stay at Diggies Lodge again in the future and recommend people to put the positive experience we had there to the test.
Their order may have taken a little long, but their food was fantastic. I would stay there again.
The accommodation conditionally met all our requirements.
See stars.
Ons was aangenaam verras. Die plek is pragtig skoon, personeel en diens baie goed!
Would stay here again.
Very good accommodation at a pocket-friendly price.
Would highly recommend Diggies. The rooms are clean, tidy and spacious. Staff very friendly, looking forward to the next time!
Such a lovely place with tranquil atmosphere. The admin staff ensure that they are always available for enquiries. Thank you for the friendly service, really appreciated.
It is always nice when the accommodation is clean and the staff is helpful. Safety is very important to us and we felt very safe and our vehicle was behind two gates. It also helps if there is a restaurant inside the lodge and you don't have to drive to a restaurant to eat. The food was delicious.
The room was spacious and comfortable. Everything was neat and clean. Everything you need is available and in a good state. Would use the facilities again anytime. They helped me when I needed accommodation for another night.
Diggies Lodge is clean and safe. That evening we ate one of the tastiest chicken schnitzels ever and the staff were extremely competent and friendly. Would recommend for sure!
Service excellent will definitely tell friends and family!
We were very satisfied with the accommodation, good value for money, tidy, secure parking. Beds slept great. Only complaint we have is that the restaurant does not cater for non-smokers, so we could not eat there. Would also suggest that the guests are not allowed to smoke directly outside their room doors on the veranda, as it may be right next to a non-smoker's room door. It would be much better if a few smoking areas could be set up in the yard, a little further away from the room doors.
Accommodation was clean and neat. The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant was a little expensive but the food was good. Would most likely be staying there again.
The lodge is very comfortable and neat, also affordable.
Good value for money! We were very pleased! The ants were a bit of a problem with our food, but otherwise the place was impressive!
Beautiful place, spacious room, friendly service, delicious food at the restaurant.
Staff were friendly and the resort is neat and comfortable.
Lovely halfway place between Cape Town and Johannesburg.
Professional reception, clean and neat accommodation.
A great place. Kimberley was shut down while we were there but they made a plan. Would go back again.
Stayed over for one night on a trip between Johannesburg and Calvinia. The staff were super helpful, the room neat and clean. Will definitely recommend it.
The place is really very very neat and well located. Lounge area and bar particularly nice. However, we wanted to eat there and like most others ordered wine with the meal but it was not served. We were also not allowed to bring our own and so we just went to eat in the city. A refrigerator in the room will help a lot for the hot part of our country. We couldn't keep anything cool.
Not much really to complain beside a couple of points to notice. Rooms were neat and clean. Kettle and coffee was supplied. Yet I would just mention that the walls dividing units are thin. Neighbour's noises are clearly heard. Another area of concern was the hot water in the shower. We stayed 2 nights there. 1 night there was hot water. 1 geyser supplies water for 2 family units. 2 night no hot water as the neighbours used up all hot water. Just cold showers with temp outside around 3 deg. Another point was the 2 hour plus wait period in the restaurant for a basic meal. We were the only family of 4 there. If one has the time and wants to spend hours at the bar and restaurant then that would be the place to be. But my 14 year old twins were hungry and the 2 hour plus wait for a cheese burger and pizza was just not good enough. Besides the food, the accommodation is great.
Would've preferred a heater in the room, seeing that it was bitterly cold. Thanks a lot for a pleasant stay.
Thank you. Nice stay. WiFi was down unfortunately. Neat and friendly service.
A safe private place yet within 5 min drive from all the major shops and entertainment.
I stayed one night at Diggies on the way from the Western Cape back to Gauteng. I slept in a budget room, which means it was only a single room with a common bathroom between all the people staying in the rooms. Everything was clean and tidy. The room had air conditioning and also a roof fan. However, not one light was on when I got there at 8pm, but the switches were easy to find. The showers were spacious and I had no problems with the hot water. However, I was the only person there that night, so the general showers were not a problem. I would like to see Diggies make a plan with the showers in terms of when men and women can use them. The door can lock, but there are no changing cubicles. Overall, I was very pleased with Diggies' accommodation, especially because it was also very affordable. The staff of the lodge was also accommodating in relation to my requests Thank you very much Diggies!
Lovely accommodation and very delicious food at the restaurant. Very nice, everything in ons place.
The place is nice, and really well equipped, but I won't go back to kiss. You can't sleep if you have neighbors - and watch out for the ramp to your room, it's slippery and very steep. The restaurant's food is good but the music is deafening and yes, indeed, they don't serve coffee. But the people are very hospitable and helpful and I think it is safe, we left a car and trailer that was packed to the ganade outside and there was no problem. This place would get a lot more points if they were more soundproof and could provide more for the "coffee station" in the room.
Restaurant was excellent. Staff friendly. Neat and clean.
Good value, excellent service and a pleasant stay. Rooms clean.
Good value for money, neat, warm, clean bedding with everything that you need for a quick sleepover. Even luxury included with DStv and swimming pool and braai facilities.
We stayed here on a Sunday night and were 3 out of about 6 guests. The environment was very quiet and we could rest well. The place is located near the N12 on the south side of Kimberley and we could just drive out on the main road without having to endure the morning traffic through the town. It was far enough from the N12 that we couldn't hear any traffic. The place is clean and tidy and value for money.
Booked through sweet sleep, later changed to just two nights. Big misunderstanding, I'm booked for Wednesday and Thursday, instead of Thursday and Friday. No place for me on Friday night. Luckily someone cancels. I just have to take the family suite and pay. Something they can look out for is the musty smell in bathrooms. It's probably because places are closed like that.
The rooms are basic, but neat. Restaurant on the property, but the loud music until the early morning hours made the stay unpleasant. Won't stay there again on a Friday or a Saturday.
Very nice peaceful atmosphere. Love the covered parking and the full access control. Very good value for money.
Excellent for overnight stay, close to N12, clean and tidy.
Very nice stay. The restaurant's food was tasty and enough to eat. Rooms neat. Wanted to sleep there again on the way back, but unfortunately they were fully booked. Better to book in advance. Lady at reception provided very friendly service.
See stars.
Payment did not show immediately and e-mail confirming payment did not reach you immediately. I was allowed to stay anyway and I greatly appreciate it.
We slept over with our motorbikes. The rooms were very neat, we appreciated the parking spaces, as well as the restaurant right there.
The only thing that bothers you is that you receive a card box with one coffee on arrival. If you then drink the coffee there is nothing for the next morning. Considering there is no fridge in the room for water, one extra coffee could be quite nice. I know there is a restaurant on site but as in my case I was pressed for time and couldn't get there.
The room was clean and completely adequate and nicely furnished. The security of the complex is good.
Rooms were comfortable but can be upgraded? Restaurant was not smoke free.
Neat and spacious accommodation. Just missing a fridge and the air conditioner needs a service. Bathroom also did not have toilet freshener in it.
Being an old Kimberlite with friends in the catering business, Diggies seemed to be a quaint little place to stay while I toured the city with my girlfriend. It was not awful, but I would highly suggest staying at the superior King rooms as the basic rooms have no aircon, and a fan that was stuck on 1 setting (the slower ones!). The rooms are not too bad, but if you are thinking about doing any self-catering, forget it. No bar fridge at all, but at least they do offer breakfast. The breakfast we received was wrong on both days, but at least on the second day it was a minor error. The staff were very friendly however. The only problems are that the room without aircon had a shoddy fan, the breakfasts were wrong on both the mornings and there is no place to store your food.
The accommodation and the grounds was good - nice braai and swimming area, friendly staff and the pub/restaurant. However, there is a bar on the premises as well and they played very loud music until after 2h00 am. We have been traveling over 900 km that day and still had to go another 550 km the next day and with the music, we did not get a good night's rest. Although our first impression was that we would make use of Diggies again in the future, we will unfortunately not do so again.
Food not good. Limited. Served food in a polystyrene container. Had to ask for a plate. Only got one sachet of coffee on arrival for two nights. They give two sachets of body wash per day. Small cake of soap would be better. Towels smell miff. More value can be found at other lodges for the same price.
The only inconvenience in room 15 was that the door struggled to open. Also the bar wasn't open on a Saturday afternoon and a cold beer would've been really nice after a long journey. Other that that, everything was in order and we relaxed on a very large bed - will stay there again.
It was neat and clean, but for the price, the pocket-sized rooms were not worth the money. Basic coffee facilities in the common area and toilet paper in the toilets would be a big improvement. Thank you for the friendly service!
The rooms' walls between each other were very thin, and the neighbors were noisy, with their TV keeping us awake until early morning.
I got an SMS to warn me of possible noise due to weekend function right before check in, but felt that this needed to be communicated upon booking. The pictures of the front of the thatch roof are misleading as the building actually has a corrugated iron roof which makes it very hot. Only the patio is thatched. There was noisy music til late at night.
Everything was ok, just a pity we didn't have a small fridge in our room.
Had a nice sleep over. Actually more bed and breakfast than self catering, but had a fridge and was able to keep our food cold. At least I could braai. Would recommend for overnight stay.
Diggies are the best! Safe, comfortable, clean and tidy. Very good bed. We toured the holiday and stayed at seven places and Diggies was the best.
The units are a bit close to each other and there was a broken lamp in the room. But the service was excellent and the room was very clean.
Good overnight stay. Thank you very much.
Ek sal beslis weer daar oornag.
Diggies went out of their wat to accommodate our large group. Excellent customer service.
We spent the night in the old part of the lodge, with communal ablution facilities. Because there were 9 of us, we could also use the old reception area. We slept well. All that bothered were restaurant visitors who drank and made noise outside until midnight. However, the nice new part of the lodge is away from the restaurant.
Very quiet area, but the first night some of the guests from the restaurant's side made a lot of noise. The traffic noise lasted til the wee hours of the morning. Very unpleasant and spoiled the peacefulness. The second evening it was quiet.
Diggies Lodge is beautiful, but the family room we booked didn't have aircon. The ceiling fans isn't enough and I would recommend that they put aircon in all the rooms.
The room is tidy, but lacks hooks for blinds and towels. There is no soap. No garbage can in bathroom. Breakfast was very good. Parking is safe and close. The Lodge is close to everything, and without traffic noise.
Have already used Diggies. And as in the past, location is perfect for business overnight. Clean, tidy and friendly staff. Very basic breakfast is served in the room.
Rooms require air-conditioning.
The hangout's music plays rock hard until 2 am and the televisions in the rooms next door are clearly heard. So if you don't take "ear plugs" with you, you (like me) won't get any sleep. I didn't even sleep over both nights; I checked into another guest house.
The staff had been friendly and helpful. The room was neat and clean. The breakfast was delicious.
Can recommend place. Felt safe.
I would have liked a small fridge in the room, but the room service made up for that. Air conditioning would also help as the fan blew my eyes dry. Benches for smokers outside would also be appreciated.
Really value for money. Sorry there in not a small fridge. If you've been on the road all day, you at least want to enjoy something cold. We are not drinkers and do not want to sit in a bar. But at the price, one probably can't expect that.
Nice place to stay. The staff is very friendly and helpful and we felt very much at home. I would only suggest that air conditioning be put in the rooms.
Please see our rating.
We had a very nice stay. I would just really prefer a fridge in the rooms! Especially in Kimberley's hot environment, a fridge is a must! Furthermore, the stay was pleasant.
Felt welcome immediately. Service was good. They went to some effort to meet my needs.
See the stars.
I would really recommend Diggies to anyone. It is very clean, tidy and modernly furnished. The reception was professional and efficient. The lodge has all the facilities needed and is very quiet. Breakfast is included and really pulls in their favour. Safe accommodation and parking. However, I would just like to see them have air conditioning in every unit because Kimberley is very hot and roof fans alone are insufficient.
This was our last stop after almost 2 weeks of touring through the Cape. Clean, neat place, but not for a holiday. It reminded me of a hotel. Also more for people attending some course.
This was our last stop after touring in the Cape for almost 2 weeks. Clean, neat place, but not for a holiday. It reminded me of a hotel. Also more for people attending a course of some sort.
Everything was great for the first 2 nights. On the third night the bar and the music was very loud until after 12 and in the room next door the people came and went every hour and made a lot of noise. Nobody stopped them. Room 13 and 15 can unlock each other, not safe.
The rooms were neat and beautiful - but there was no water except a thin little trickle from the cold tap. No hot water to shower. Reported it to the manager who was equally shocked about this, but despite the fact that I left my number, no one made contact with me. Had to tackle my further journey, which was all the way to Springbok, the next day without having a bath or shower and not enough water to even wash my face properly. Will not recommend this place at all, would rather suggest people look elsewhere for accommodation.
The room had an unpleasant smell. Breakfast was in a bar which was still dirty from the previous night - liquor bottles, ash trays, glasses etc. strewn everywhere. Breakfast was late on both mornings and we had no choice about the type of breakfast except how runny the eggs were - and then the food was cold too. The cool drink was made from concentrate! Half-washed cutlery! I opted for breakfast at the guest house my colleagues stayed at. This place won't see me again!
Had a wonderful stay. Very neat and clean. Would just like air conditioning instead ceiling fans in rooms preferred.
We had a very nice stay. All facilities were great and the breakfast was great value for money.
Rooms were very clean and tidy. Bedding immaculately clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. Very conveniently close to the GWK auction room.
Just a pity there was no air conditioning.
It was a comfortable and tidy unit. Would suggest replacing the fans with air conditioning due to the fact that it does not cool the room sufficiently. There was also no hot water in the bathroom.
Very loud music on weekends until about 02:00 in the morning. No air conditioning in the rooms. Breakfast was very good and the rooms are neat. Very safe and staff are very friendly.
Facilities clean and tidy and this is the most important, with power cuts almost every night they should please. check lighting outside the units.
They do not have the food that appears on the menu. They bring my order 15 minutes after my wife got her food with the excuse that the kitchen didn't know the order should be served together. The menu is apparently going to be replaced.
As we arrived late the reception was already closed and we had to find the bar door which was very confusing. However, the room was good and tidy. However, the breakfast arrangements were not good. Waited a very long time and then got a wrong order.
There is a difference between holding functions and a place to sleep right next to a place to visit. One could not sleep at all until after two hours!
