108 guests' feedbackVery nice stay. There was a lot to do with our small children (20 months and 3 and a half). The stairs were also very easy for them to climb.
It was a great experience. I love how relaxing it is for adults and how there are activities for children. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful.
Absolutely amazing as always.
Definitely! Lots to do for both young and old.
Had a great time. I enjoyed a little more entertainment.
Dikhololo is wonderfully maintained, the staff are friendly, and we will certainly visit again. There are various pools that you can make use of, games rooms, and plenty of activities besides. The units are modern and well maintained (we were in a studio apartment) and my only complaint is that these units share a wall with neighbours, who you can hear even when at moderate volumes. This won't be the case in all units, and wasn't disruptive to our visit, however. Great to visit with children, or on your own.
We really enjoyed the time in nature. This is the fifth time we have visited there and will do so again.
Resort is a paradise for children. The unit may need a bit of an upgrade, but we had a nice stay.
Accommodation was not according to photos. We were misled for the price paid.
There was a lot for children to do. Parents relax.
Yes, but we didn't get what we booked. The old chalet has 4 sleeping places instead of 3. There were termites in the door frame (instead of the Studio flat).
Accommodation was not bad. Everything neat and clean.
The recreation area was very good with children's activities, swimming and a restaurant/bar all centrally situated. All staff were friendly and helpful.
Game drive and food not good.
Dikhololo is a very nice place, unfortunately the unit I got is not ideal and not at all worth what I paid. I constantly heard my neighbors (on both sides) when I was in the unit. The braai area is right next to my 'neighbour', and they were very noisy which made my own braai unsociable. On the other side of the unit, people hung out and talked until the early hours of the morning. I could hear every word and sleep was impossible until they settled down. I turned on the air conditioning to try to block out the sound, and couldn't get it off again either. The unit was in Kudu, and I will not book there again because of this. The photos are also misleading as it is 1 large building that has basically been split into 4, to make 4 different units. My unit was neat and clean - kitchen very small but no reason to complain. The noise was just too much. Dikhololo as a place is very beautiful, and everyone who works there is also very friendly and helpful.
Our chalet wasn't very clean. The TV remote was dirty, and so were the sofas. We could hear every word the neighbors said; the walls were very thin, leaving us and them with no privacy. We could smell the food they were cooking. I won't be back.
M y personal feel is Overrated and way overpriced. Service is slow. Units also not very clean.
Very relaxing two-night stay.
It's a really nice resort with lots of activities. I love the swimming area and restaurant. It is clean and tidy. However, it would have been nice if there were 2 bedrooms. The walls are a bit thin, you can hear your neighbors.
We enjoyed every moment. It was the best weekend, most beautiful house, comfortable, luxurious and neat, clean. Staff are friendly and helpful. The resort is in top condition. We can't complain about anything. We will see you again soon.
I will definitely vacation there again.
Lots to do and can relax.
Everyone is very friendly. Great getaway for a weekend.
The resort is neat and clean and the adventures and activities are amazing. Would definitely recommend it to any person.
The resort, facilities and accommodation are very neat and clean. Real woodland getaway. We were in a 4 bedroom unit, and the fact that there are only 2 couches to sleep on. Is very impractical and uncomfortable. There is also no table inside to eat at, only outside on the stoep. Otherwise we enjoyed a lovely Easter weekend surrounded by forest and animals.
Attention: Kitchen accessories are insufficient. Hooks in shower and kitchen. Sound density is extremely poor! Soap dispensers in bathrooms are never filled on request!
Dikhololo offers recreational opportunities for young and old at reasonable rates.
Stay was very good. Will definitely go back there.
The staff is always friendly. The apartment was clean and tidy with everything needed. Woke up with birds singing and badgers came to say hello. Heard foxes at night. Everything was close and walkable. Game drive was fun. Zipline was challenge, but overcome! Was great as a family to do activities together. The weekend was too short to fit everything in. Will go again.
Would firstly like to thank Shadé for assisting us in this amazing booking. As for our stay, from the third night, we had an amazing stay. We unfortunately had bad neighbours the first two nights, so much so that my temper was tested, but I contacted security and it was immediately settled by amazing staff members. But it is really an amazing place to find yourself and nature. The service is really of a high standard. The place is beautiful and the animals are so friendly, we will definitely be returning but choosing our units better. I would like to just add that they should make a note that Sundays you can only book in after 17H00 but the staff did accommodate us very well. Thank you to Dikhololo and all the friendly staff members. You are an example of good human manner in an exceptionally beautiful place in South Africa.
I enjoyed my stay, but they should clean their rooms as there were spiderwebs and cockroaches.
There is a peaceful atmosphere and the place is very clean and tidy. The back-to-back units let a lot of sound through, e.g. i could totally listen to my neighbors tv, and a full shower would help. Otherwise very nice.
I am currently pregnant and the room we were given was upstairs with stairs, and the sofas downstairs served as sleeping space for my little girl, but it was very impractical.
A fee is shamelessly asked for the use of the pool, but then the water is colder than Saturday afternoon's pool outside. Without any warning or sign or anything. I am truly disappointed. I would have appreciated it if we had been informed ahead of time that there was a problem with the hot water pool's pumps. We wasted a lot of money on nothing. That's all we came for. The units are by no means soundproof. You hear word for word what your next-door neighbor is saying. We stayed in a 4 bed chalet. I am bitterly disappointed.
The stay was good! Loved the family friendly swimming pool for babies and toddlers.
The resort is fantastic. The receptionists could be friendlier. The follow up of appointments at the spa is very bad. The housing unit is excessive for the price paid. It is inconvenient with upper rooms and dangerous for older people and small children, because there are no railings. I originally asked for a land unit and got something completely different. I will go back again but will make sure to get a unit that I paid for upfront.
The visit was wonderful, the chalet was well equipped but the fact that you can hear your neighbors breathing in the chalets next door is extremely frustrating. It feels like you are sharing your chalet with invisible guests and as if you are part of a conversation that you do not have the origin of. Our booking process went smoothly. Our check in was a different story. The communication between the parties involved was poor, which meant that we had to wait outside the gate, in the car for 45 minutes, before the problem was sorted. It caused quite a bitter taste.
There were too many rules about what you pay for and what is free. The gym was small, and the rules wouldn't allow us to use it together at the same time, even when we asked. The lady at reception during check-in seemed a little unfriendly. We had booked 3 chalets, and none of them had toilet paper. We only realised this at night and didn't receive assistance until the next day. The reception number was never answered, so we had to drive to request anything we needed. Most of the staff were friendly and hospitable. The children enjoyed seeing Father Christmas. The place is not child-proof for toddlers.
In general, it was a lovely little break away from the city. A bit pricy. The gravel road was terrible, this is probably due to the heavy rains. Hope outside the rainy seasons that the road will be more pleasant to drive. We did some of our own game drives of which we saw some antelope, expected a bit more wildlife as it is a nature resort. I understand the bush is thick, also due to the rain. But think the wildlife is a bit thin for such an expensive stay.
Had a very bad experience. The walls are so thin, the people who live next to you hear everything. They made such a noise the first night, we couldn't sleep. And we called about the noise. They silenced the people twice, and still the people kept us awake. The place had not been that clean at all, with old torn blankets on the bed. None, but no signal in the houses.
The staff are incredibly friendly and it was just a joy to be there. We were there 2 years back and the renovations that have been done are very impressive. We are very impressed as usual and will go again for sure.
Was nice thank you. Clean and tidy.
See stars.
Very nice place and will go again.
Lovely resort, lots to do. Will definitely visit again. Certain units' use of the aircons is included, others you have to pay in advance yourself. Only disappointment was that there was no WiFi reception in the apartments.
The accommodation units are large and tidy. Friendly staff, the animals are tame and come to your door. Too many activities can't get to als but would definitely recommend the place. Hot water pool could be a bit warmer.
Beautiful place to be in, the service is excellent, the place is well maintained.
Absolutely amazing enjoyed my stay I would definitely come back.
Fantastically equipped and well maintained. It's a holiday resort and not a quiet bushland getaway. It's a paradise for children and teenagers. But it's very commercialized and the units are adjacent and close to the roads so limited/no privacy. All activities cost extra. Liquor store 20% mark-up on prices. Wood was not always in stock. Meat packets not good quality. Nyala units do not have proper showers.
Very nice place. Just had trouble getting into gate. Especially if you drive far and then have to stand there for half an hour. Restaurant's food is delicious. And it's made extra special with a birthday. Will definitely go back again.
We were not prepared for all the extra payments to e.g. to visit the heated pool, and the pool was quite full every time. But otherwise it was really pleasant. All other complaint was that the car port (the roof) at our unit was not open.
Main pool just very dirty. Other than that, everything was pleasant.
Only fault we had was the dirt road. Very bumpy and not ideal for normal cars. Everything else was great. Lots for kids to do. Activities are charged additionally, but they are affordable.
You had to pay for a hot swimming pool, but bathrooms are being added and the water stinks from the bath itself. Everything is expensive and the quads e.g. standing all day because it's just too expensive, we were a group of 8 people. There is almost no game and the liquor store prices are also prohibitively expensive. The air conditioner works on cash power after you pay R 4000-00 plus per day for 8 people, so you then have to buy the air conditioner's cash power additionally and you only find it out at 11:00 at night when you go to bed. The unit's bricks are loose from the braaier and it's just too much money for what you get there.
Oh no what! All I hoped for is in a moment when our neighbors arrive with it! Had to take 2 sleeping pills on 4th night just to escape from paper thin walls. Units are old and outdated. Two of the unit's pillows and a blanket were heavily soiled. Staying for a week and not getting clean bedding or towels is bad. Large-scale party over the weekend and it was a failed noise until the morning hours! Spa was okay. Restaurant can be proud of their food and service. Only highlight was! For what I pay and what I got, they never see me again!
We enjoyed it very much.
The accommodation was comfortable and clean. We appreciated the braai area right outside our door, and also the covered parking conveniently close. We experienced one inconvenience in the unit, and that was a lack of a shelf/larger vanity in the bathroom. There was almost nowhere to put toiletries etc. The same applied to the bedroom - an additional bench for suitcases would be great.
See stars.
Such a great first experience. Will definitely go back. The staff was very helpful.
We really enjoyed the weekend. The chalet was neat and well equipped. It's a beautiful resort with something to do for the whole family. A pleasant Bushveld experience. We will definitely go again.
Have a nice holiday with the family. Plenty of activities to keep everyone busy. Monkeys are unfortunately a problem around units. They become aggressive to get to food in the units.
See stars.
There are more things for children to do.
Neighbors were noisy. Stovetop was faulty. Also had a great time.
Suitable for children. Nice opportunity to ride bikes. Spas can offer their guests something to drink when they visit for more than 2 hours.
However, was very disappointed because we were not informed that all activities were closed on Fridays. It was our last day there and wanted to swim and play putt-putt for the last time. Had we known this in advance, we would have already left on Thursday and saved two nights' accommodation.
We had a great weekend. We will recommend to friends and family.
We had a great time, everything was very nice and well taken care of. We enjoyed it very much. The only suggestion is that they scrape the dirt road more often. We were lucky in a bakkie, but for a normal car it's a bad 10 km around.
Very neat, but slip-and-slide too far from the swimming pool and you can only slide on some days, other activities you need to pay extra for and that wasn't mentioned to us, think that for the money we paid the activities need to be free, putt-putt, heated pool, game drive, slip-and-slide etc. Otherwise we enjoyed our time there and relaxed.
The units that are joined together are not soundproof, so you will be able to hear all conversations from next door.
The accommodation has everything we could need and more. I was disappointed with the hot pool that you could only book in advance for the day. The pool is fully booked within the first 10 minutes, because only 30 people are allowed to swim per session. When we did get a chance for the pool on our last day there I noticed that there were 45+ people there. Many of the people from the morning sessions simply stayed inside. I also wanted to book a game drive for my family (which you can also apparently only arrange in the morning) and could not find an open place. There were also no green lawns, which only made the place look bad. I've been there in the past but it was my wife's first time, won't go back easily. Certain people help you and go out of their way for you and others don't at all. The restaurant's food was fantastic but you wait a long time for someone to help you and some of the food comes out cold. In the end we went to buy our soft drinks at the bar because the waiter took too long where we did pay R20 for a can of Coke.
Place very small. Can hear every sound that goes on next door. Everything is always fully booked and the service at the restaurant is not good at all.
All that bothers me a little is how thin the walls are between the units. One can hear everything one's neighbors are doing and talking. Especially if they have busy kids.
Was wonderfully relaxing. It's just a shame you don't know in advance that you have to pay extra for some facilities.
Enjoyed it a lot. Thank you.
Always good at Dikhololo. Great weather and tranquility.
The only unpleasant experience was that, the advertisement differs. We have e.g. Booked a large 3 bedroom 2 bathroom unit. Upon arrival we then had to settle for a 2 bedroom unit of which the "3rd bedroom" was completely open with no walls for privacy. We were 3 married adult couples and everyone was under the impression that when talking about a 3 bedroom unit it is seen as 3 closed bedrooms with doors that can lock, am I right? Apart from the inconvenience we had to go through, we had a wonderful break.
The resort is beautiful and neat! The staff are friendly and helpful! Will definitely go again!
We loved the place. Clean, secure and enjoyable. But the 11 km gravel road is very bad. I am glad I rented a car for the trip.
The place is lovely, there's a lot of fun activities and the staff is absolutely friendly.
The best breakaway place to visit. It is so peaceful and nature is so close to you. Already planning the next vacation there. Very friendly service.
On our first day, we felt welcome. And we saw so much wildlife. The restaurant's food was great, as were our cocktails at the bar. It's simply a place where you want to be, and never leave.
Dikhololo was pleasant, tidy with all kinds of simple entertainment for the children. Shop is well equipped. Nice to see the few buck species around the camp.
Thank you to security for your help.
Friendly staff, hospitality, helpful at all times, maybe something for someone who gets hurt, especially medical lubricants and bandages and where are the fruit juices in the cafeteria and maybe something better than a gift from Dikhololo.
The facilities are neat and clean. There is plenty to keep you busy. The staff are friendly. The signs that show where the super tube is can be improved. One does not know which direction to walk from the parking area.
Peaceful, great interaction with the animals, clean, neat and friendly staff. Great restaurant, would recommend Dikhololo to anyone.
Dikhololo is a fantastic place for a young family with small children who are very active. There is a lot to do. Had a really great holiday.
See stars.
Because our unit was soundproof, we were constantly aware of neighbors talking and noise from TV and music. Accommodation is therefore experienced as non-private. No silence from a so-called bushveld experience! Furthermore, restaurant was not prepared to provide food 30 minutes before advertised closing time on Sunday. Bar also closes 2 hours before advertised time on the same Sunday. Also problem with exchange of articles at store on a Sunday in absence of manager. Will not go to Dikhololo again as a bushveld destination.
We had a great stay and the staff is very friendly and considerate. All that was bad was that there were people sitting by the pool and smoking. We have small children and it was bad that people would sit next to the baby pool and smoke.
To rest without any unnecessary noise.
Staff is very friendly and kept everything neat and tidy. They always helped and you didn't have to go look for someone to help. Rooms are nice and cosy. Nature life well looked after and wide variety.
Staying at Dikhololo was such a pleasant experience. I love that the animals come so close. The staff is extremely friendly. I will definitely stay there again.
Very neat and clean. Many improvements done on premises. Looks really nice.
Ideal location, spacious accommodation, neat amenities, beautiful scenery, wonderful hiking opportunities and value-for-money accommodation!
See stars.
We enjoy staying at Dikhololo. It's a nice place with lots of activities. We also love the animals.
We enjoyed our stay. For a city dweller, a getaway to Dikhololo is highly recommended. Calm and relaxed atmosphere in nature.
The sound insulation of the studio units is not very good. If you have somewhat noisy neighbors this is a problem. Restaurant is good, shop is adequate, staff all speak very good Afrikaans which is a big plus. The map of the dirt roads that one can drive is not easy because there are no indications of distances and the roads are not marked, neither on the map nor on the ground. The last 14 km dirt road is not pleasant, probably even worse if it rained.
We felt at home, the staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant's food is of good quality and the accommodation has everything needed. There is enough to keep the children busy. Great for a family break away.
It had been a very peaceful weekend. A weekend is just too short. We will book a week next time. Everything was nice and clean and the staff very friendly. On Saturday there was no hot water in our chalet and within 6 minutes of calling reception, the problem was solved.
In Dikhololo, there is an attitude of caring for fellow human beings, animals and the environment, created daily by the management team and every member of staff. Thank you very much, we had a great time relaxing!
We really enjoyed our time at Dikhololo. The warm swimming pool was broken unfortunately, but the rest was nice. Everyone was friendly and everything was so neat and clean. We will definitely go again.
We really needed the rest.
Dikhololo is ideal for a quick getaway of about 2 - 4 days. The chalets were tidy, swimming pools were clean and staff were friendly and helpful. I personally think more care could be taken with the smaller pools between the chalets. We stayed in the Kudu area and the grass (where there was grass) was full of thorns and it was long. There were also no trees or any other shade to sit under, with the result that one felt obliged to go to the main pool where it was far too full. The 11 km dirt road to the entrance is very corrugated and it takes about half an hour with a regular sedan car. Although the game drives' roads are accessible to any vehicle, it's still difficult with a regular sedan. There is a lot of loose sand in which one can get stuck if one is not careful. There is also no supervision at the supertube, and it can get very dangerous as people do as they please.
We were enjoying our stay from the Tuesday to the Friday morning but then the housekeeping lady informed us of an intended move. I was never made aware of the fact that we would have to move to another chalet and with three 80 year old parents. It was very distressing for everyone to suddenly be uprooted. Should this happen, I strongly recommend that the guest should be informed on arrival and not lay the blame elsewhere when the problem is highlighted. This comes across as very unprofessional on all levels of customer service. I would certainly like to visit again but I'm fearful of the same incident occurring again. Please be so kind as to refrain from upsetting your guests with unprofessional attitude.
