Each Cottage has an alarm and parking is behind a security gate, with electrified fencing around the perimeter and a wooden fence as a barrier. Guests have access to a fenced splash pool to cool off anytime surrounded by a grass area for kids to play on.
The property is adjacent to our town's Showground which is host to monthly agricultural events, local concerts and some well-known cycle races.
We offer a laundry service at an additional cost per load from Monday to Friday by previous arrangement. Crockery, cutlery, bedding and bath towels are provided.
The property is equipped with solar power and a generator in case of load shedding. Someone is always available either on the premises or on call if there's anything you need that isn't provided.
We'll make sure there is coffee, tea, sugar and milk when you arrive and that the ice trays are full. There will also be enough wood for your first braai on us.

Wow from the get go we were welcomed with open arms and a smile. The units are fitted with everything you need. Neatly kept and modern. My favourite part was the carrots to feed the donkeys! So cute.
We had a wonderful 2 nights at Doolittle Cottage. The cottage has everything (and more) to make your stay comfortable. It has a lovely relaxed atmosphere and we enjoyed doing very little whilst we were there .

This has been our third time staying here and they never disappoint. I have an 8 and 1 year old and they always have a camping cot ready for us. The kids love the animals and you get the feeling of farm life while in town. Absolutely great space and value for money.

The animals were the highlight of my 2 year old's trip.
The place is beautiful ─ a nice porch with easy chairs to lie down and watch the chickens grazing on the grass and coming knocking for something to snack on. The donkeys also came to say hello and it was a lovely pastime. The cottage itself was luxurious, clean and tidy with everything and more that one could need. We had a great barbecue with wood that was provided.
Had a great time at Dolittle Cottage. The donkeys and chickens were a highlight for our 1 year old daughter. On our arrival we were warmly received and there were carrots in the fridge to feed the donkeys. Will definitely come again.

Very nice place to stay, wonderfully peaceful. The house was very clean and tidy and very well furnished. Children also enjoyed animals and space.
Well set up unit which was clean and neat. The friendly donkeys were a treat to watch and we enjoyed feeding them some carrots. Only criticism is the sleeper couches which had some sharp wires which poked through when you sat on them. Sure they can easily be repaired. Big plus for us was the backup power which came on during loadshedding. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

We visited Dolittle for a friend's kitchen tea. We really enjoyed the weekend. The whole house was silver clean and all the kitchen facilities were in excellent condition. I couldn't find fault at all. I would definitely recommend Dolittle and keep it on my list of places to return to.
Clean, neat, modern, yet cozy accommodation with everything needed for a great self-catering stay. Host even left some carrots in the fridge to feed the donkeys. Already referred someone, and will definitely be returning myself.
Very beautiful and clean location. Host was very nice, polite and very helpful. The service of the staff/ workers was of excellence and was always there to assist and help where needed. My stay at the cottage was perfect and my little family really enjoyed it to the max, especially my little daughter who had the most amazing time bonding with the animals.
My husband and I stayed at Dolittle Cottages on 2 separate occasions, about a month apart, for a week each time. The Cottage has everything you could need for self-catering as well as little luxuries; all of high quality. The unit is very spacious with a large stoep, grass area and communal plunge pool for guests. The donkeys and chickens are a joy to have around. The housekeeping and grounds staff are very friendly and accommodating. This is a must-stay establishment when in Swellendam!
I was looking for a peaceful weekend and that's what I got. A child friendly place for my daughter. She was amazed by the beautiful animals and lovely pool to cool off in on the hot summer days. We had a wonderful stay and this will be our go to place every time we visit Swellendam.

Neat and clean with everything we needed. They even provided 2 camping huts for our little ones! The donkeys, sheep and chickens are very cute and fascinate the children terribly.

We spent four lovely days at Dolittle Cottages. The cottage is beautiful, spacious and excellently equipped. It really feels like you are staying on a farm in the middle of town. Next to the river (which came down just fine after the good rain on our arrival day) and with a view of the camp in which a sheep, three donkeys, and a few yard chickens! We felt very safe (thanks to the electrical security wiring and alarm system). The braai on the stoep was delicious and the car benefited from the shaded net parking. Although the two cottages were built next to each other, they still felt private. We cannot criticize the wonderful accommodation option in Swellendam. And will return without a doubt.
Our stay was fantastic, Lisa and her husband are very accommodating. The cottage was fully equipped with more than what you need and so wonderful to stay in. The animals add to the amazing atmosphere. I will definitely recommend and return!
The layout is excellent! Space, quality, nothing missing, pure pampering. The donkeys and sheep and pecans were a big bonus and the farm feel was lovely! Now it was a good choice to end our week long break. Neat clean comfortable accommodation with an eye for detail and well equipped. The tranquility that the donkeys bring gives the farm atmosphere. Definitely recommendable for a few nights stay! We come again. Many thanks and blessings.
We stayed in DoLittle cottage and it was clear that a lot of effort is put into ensuring that the cottage is neat, modern, clean and comfortable! We travel a lot, also abroad, and the cottage was really one of the most comfortable and beautiful self-catering units we have ever stayed in. The presence of the 2 donkeys, a sheep and some chickens made the experience even more special and I really enjoyed giving the donkeys the carrots, which are in the fridge for this purpose. Will definitely stay at DoLittle cottages again if we are in the Swellendam area again.

This is just a very special place - the animals are special and create a rustic farm atmosphere, yet one is in the town and close to shops and other sight seeing experiences. But I needed nothing more than just sitting on the stoep of the cottage, relaxing with a book or just doing nothing! It felt as if I had been away on holiday for a week and not just a long weekend. Owner friendly and accommodating. Exceptional experience!
Great stay, everything was perfect. If animals make you tick this is the place to be. Lovely to feed the donkeys and the sheep and as a bonus a chicken came to visit us every day. Just on that note, take lots of carrots with you, the donkeys have a big appetite and know how to ask, but it's lovely to feed them.
We had a great stay at Dolittle Cottages and our little girl (18 months old) enjoyed herself with the animals and large lawn. The cottages are nice and tidy, the lawn is green, the animals are friendly and everything is peaceful around you. We will definitely stay here again for a weekend!

Do Little and Do Less, the two cottages available, are very well-kept and totally spacious. We will definitely come back and make Doolittle Cottages our constant stay when being in Swellendam.
Really enjoyed our stay at Dolittle Cottages. Lisa was very helpful and would definitely visit again. The chickens in the morning was my daughters high-lite. It was like an Easter egg hunt, you never knew where they laid that egg next.

What a great cottage, it is absolutely amazing! The whole experience is absolutely amazing I really would recommend this to anyone, there is a small splash pool that my daughter loved. Everything is so neat and tidy, of the best quality. Small touches made it so homey. We got cherries as well as nuts and it was a very nice surprise. The staff was so friendly and the donkeys adds a nice farm touch. It is close to everything and was a absolute pleasure staying there. We will def see you soon again! Thanx so much for everything!
Would recommend anytime, very well equipped and tidy. Our photo sessions with the 3 donkeys and hens who each come to lay an egg in the kitchen and braai area brought us great excitement. Was definitely a very good choice and safe environment to spend the night.

I have never stayed in any self catering accommodation that is so luxurious and well equipped. Everything was painfully neat and clean. It is so beautifully and homely decorated. The surroundings are beautiful and we enjoyed the donkeys and chickens just as much. I would recommend it anytime, even for those with kids, as there are lush green lawns to play on.

We had the most amazing experience at Dolittle Cottages and I mean really amazing! The owners really went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. The house was incredibly beautiful, neat and clean and in the house there is absolutely everything you can think of, we lacked nothing. The owners definitely understand what one needs when away from home for a night, definitely value for money. The amount of detail is just too much to mention. You can literally just stop there with your clothes and something to eat, because the rest is all there. My son had a great time playing on the big green lawn and enjoyed the donkeys very much. We really go away a lot and stay in many places and your place undoubtedly gets 10 out of 10 from us. We will definitely see Dolittle Cottages again when we are in Swellendam.

It was a pity about the geyser. Intermittent hot water doesn't make for a pleasant shower experience. A few too many little decor elements. Would prefer less, especially when travelling with little kids. Otherwise a great little gem, with friendly welcoming service and I will definitely recommend to others and consider as a rest-stop when passing-by on a road trip again.

Place is very neat. Do not arrive a minute before check-in time. Geyser had no gas. So make sure the hot water is okay especially if it is winter months.
