The units are comfortable, although quite cramped if sharing. The shower is quite small, although there was adequate hot water. If you want a fully self-catering place, this is not the place to stay.There is limited cooking facilities and utensils, I don't think it would be possible to cook a full meal in the unit, although there are braai facilities. The only frustration was that the bookings were handled by one person but any questions, queries (like the fridge that didn't work properly) had to be done to another person. Surely if something is reported to the person who deals with the booking, they should convey it to the person who should deal with it, instead of just sending the customer the number and telling them to then phone the person.

Dome Home is located in a nice quiet neighborhood, and is still central. The Domes are small and compact, without being cramped, and is well equipped. The owners are friendly, jovial people. There are braai facilities and a swimming pool to cool in the Lowveld heat. We can definitely recommend Dome Home as a value for money stopover.

We stayed in the apartment at the house and not in the "Dome Houses" because they were fully booked, although I believe it must be quite a unique experience due to their building style. The apartment is very neat and has a comfortable sitting-bedroom with its own bathroom and a furnished balcony overlooking a large tropical garden. The stoep is ideal for early morning coffee and biscuits or a late afternoon tea. The owner was very friendly and helpful with any request we could give him. The address is centrally located for anyone wishing to visit the area itself with quick access to all the main routes including the Kaapsehoop road which is a tourist attraction in its own right overlooking the lowlands. On Sunday morning we had a delicious pancake and fruit dinner at one of the many beautiful zinc and wooden restaurants in the artists' village of Kaapsehoop and what an experience it was, with wild horses standing and grazing some distance away and tourists brave the many footpaths between the rock heads for a view of the lowlands! Our only suggestion is that the apartment should be provided with a separate walk-in shower, especially for persons who cannot easily get in and out of a bath.

My objection is that it is really only big enough for single people. There are 2 single beds which limit the floor space a lot. My wife and I have been sleeping on a double bed or 2 single beds that we move together for 52 years. In the case of Dome, it is impossible to move the beds against each other in the limited space.

Dome Home is a well-kept secret! The round houses speak of excellent craftsmanship and the woodwork inside is a great compliment to the carpenter! Everything is extremely neat inside and it is excellently equipped - the price is really affordable and we were very satisfied! We were warmly welcomed and well informed so that there was no ambiguity about our stay.

The warm and friendly welcome from Helmut was matched by the temperature inside the unit. I was hoping for a cool refuge from the 33 degrees outside, but the reality was more pizza oven than igloo. The ceiling fan was hopelessly inadequate and even with every window wide open I spent a hot, clammy and restless night. It really needs an aircon. The unit was clean (except for the large dustballs falling from the overhead fan), but it's a bit cramped although that is to be expected I suppose. Unfortunately I have to say I will not be going back.
If you would like to spend the night in the dome, make sure it is available otherwise you will sleep in the house. The bathrooms can be equipped with glass that you cannot see through, I had to hang a blanket in front of the window otherwise the neighbors could look in and see me in my Adam suit. Otherwise it was very pleasant.
Dome Home Self-Catering is excellently located. This is a good option for an overnight stay with a business visit. Owners very friendly and our little girl really enjoyed the pool.

It's a quiet area and the owner is friendly. Everything was fine beside the beds (all rooms have two single beds). We were a couple and ended up sharing one single bed for our whole stay, but that didn't stop us from enjoying our weekend away from home.
The only negative was that the fridge was a bit noisy, but other than that the service was very friendly and I would recommend them anytime!

The shower needs a curtain because the water splashes the entire bathroom. You have to squeeze yourself into the corner to try not to get wet. For a large person it is very uncomfortable.
