The self-sustainable house comprises 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. The main bedroom is furnished with a king-size bed, and has an en-suite bathroom with a fancy composting toilet, as well as a shower and toilet. It also has two small child beds which can be moved to any other room. The second bedroom contains a king-size bed which can be converted into 2 single beds, and has an en-suite bathroom with a toilet. The third bedroom contains 2 bunk beds, and makes use of a separate bathroom with a shower. Please note, the toilets make use of greywater. A double sleeper couch is available in the lounge.
The open-plan kitchen is equipped with a gas stove and oven, a fridge, as well as tea- and coffee-making facilities. There is no microwave. Meals can be enjoyed at the dining table, and guests can relax in the lounge. Wi-Fi is not available.
The living area opens onto a deck with a built-in braai that overlooks the surrounds. Smoking is not allowed in the house. Please note cleaning services are not offered.

This is a great place for a weekend getaway. You can just rest there and the facilities are more than adequate.
Totally off-grid with the old farmhouse feel. Dead quiet with only nature around you.

Donkerhoek Country Living can accommodate 10 adults and 2 children.The toilets all make use of greywater.
Guests are advised that the dishwasher, hairdryers, or other high wattage equipment only during 10:00 and 16:00 when the sun is shining.
There is no microwave due to the high power requirement on the solar system.
The pressure pump that supplies water to the house will be off from 10pm to 7am. There will be drinking water available for the night, but be sure to shower before 10pm!
We are on solar power which is sometimes not enough during rainy days - we have a back-up generator for such instances.
Please note there is a gravel road leading to the accommodation. Guests are required to inquire about the condition of the road before arrival, as it could be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances.
The owner lives on the premises with their pets which are kept away from guests.
Donkerhoek Country Living is a non-smoking establishment.
