Each flat has a bathroom with bath and shower facilities, a large lounge/dining section, and a very well equipped kitchen with a full complement of cutlery, plates, pots and pans.
The bedrooms are carpeted, and each is equipped with two single beds and fresh and clean linen.
Please note that we do not use sleeper couches.
All our flats are equipped with TV sets and Open View decoders.
We have a Swimming Pool and Braai facilities located alongside the one block and another Braai Area alongside the other block. Both areas are spacious and comfortable, and the lower area is well sheltered from the wind by large trees and shrubbery.
We have private outside showers for our guests to wash off the beach sand and salt water when coming off the beach.
Parking is safe and secure within the grounds of the flats and access to the property is by way of electric gates. Your reservation includes parking for one vehicle per flat.
Unfortunately pets are not allowed.

The place does not look at all as advertised on the website and needs a lot of attention. Fryers are rusted.
We arrived there late on Friday evening. The lady who received us was very friendly and helpful. There was a party in the building that went on until very late and the next morning my 13-year-old son (who wanted to go swimming) came across a bunch of naked ladies in the pool with my husband, who still make suggestions that they must join the ladies.
Bathrooms: In the master bedroom, toilet, shower and sink are squeezed into a very small space. Shower is half of normal shower. Toilet between sink and wall and against bathroom door. No comfortable sitting. All toilet seats were loose. Hanging wardrobe doors need attention. Kitchen utensils were all dirty and too few for 6 guests, no grill tongs, barbecue tray, etc. Grill area: Grills weak and falling apart. Grids full of holes and dirt. Too few seats. Parking area too small and used as a workshop to repair cars. All rooms lack air conditioning. Beds in 2 rooms urgently need replacement.
2 defects in the apartment : Kitchen sink had no hot water, although there was hot water in the bathroom; the bathroom's cold faucet leaks. Guests in the apartment below us partied late on Friday and Saturday night. Party doesn't bother, just the last night's noise!
The apartment just needs renovation.

Quiet area and very safe with vehicle parking.
We enjoyed our stay in Amanzimtoti. Kids enjoyed the beach a lot. Please provide house warming equipment for winter ... Airconditioner or heater or electric blankets. It gets chilly at night in winter.
The flat needs upgrading, very outdated. We struggled with ants especially in the kitchen. We had very loud neighbours. Other than that, is was clean and had everything that we needed. We will definitely stay there again.
The apartment was quite big, clean and neat. Lucky (the "caretaker") was very friendly and helpful. It was also cleaned daily (big plus). Braai facilities and swimming pool were nice. It's also very safe and lifesavers were on duty at the beach (walking distance) daily. The only thing I would recommend is an extra pot, pan and braai dish. But I definitely recommend it and wil also use it again myself.
We had a lovely time. The place need some renovations though. One bed was broken. The shower doors falls apart when opening or closing. The toilet was not flushing properly which my husband fixed. Apart from that it is a very nice holiday spot. Close to the beach and the flats is has a nice view and is very spacious. Thank you to Lucky for his friendly service.
It was nice to be so close to the beach. The apartment was very comfortable. It's just a shame there wasn't an outside shower to wash off all the sea sand. Unfortunately we had to use the tub/shower for that purpose, and it made me wonder if the sand was affecting the sewage system. There could be some renovation work done, such as the faucets in the bath which were leaking, and the microwave which is a bit old. We had a great stay, and would recommend it to anyone. We were just disappointed in the Amanzimtoti Municipality. The streets were very dirty and full of plastic bags and other rubbish, and there was rubbish everywhere in the rivers. We hope they can improve. The beaches were very clean and cleaned regularly. We also had lifeguards on the beach every day looking after our safety.
Very nice accommodation and warm hospitality from Doug and Lucky. Always ready to help. Close to the beach and very safe. One recommendations would be to look at the water pressure in Flat 2. The shower didn't work due to the low water pressure. There was no vegetable peeler in the flat. Otherwise it was good. Thank you for the spoil and the clean and washing dishes every day, which is included. My wife had a lovely rest!

Cutlery and crockery weren't matching (mismatched glasses / cups / cutlery). Appliances weren't clean properly.
Complained 2 times about a fridge not working, and each time I was just ignored. A fridge is essential. Had to throw away food a few times that went down because the fridge wasn't working, and we didn't have room for it in the cooler box.

Fridge doesn't get cold - our cold foods were spoiled, and beds extremely poor - sheets were not clean. What you see on Doonside's page, you cannot compare with reality. We were 30 minutes from Durban and only 5 minutes from the Gallaria shopping centre. Doonside Holiday Flats is perfectly located close to everything. The apartments are well equipped and offer enough privacy. Service is good.

THIS was by far the most enjoyable holiday that i have had at the sea in ten years. Accommodation was very nice, hospitality outstanding and services rendered excellent. I would definitely stay here again. Close to the sea and was very peaceful.
The apartments were well located, although the mattresses had seen better days. Otherwise I think just the walls could do with some portraits for a more homely feel. The rest was all as one would expect from holiday accommodation.
I would use Doonside again, and also recommend. The beach is close. The cleaning people are reliable and can negotiate cleaning times. The parking is safe, but space can be an issue. There is a train track near the apartments... it was no problem for us, on the contrary, listened to some interesting conversations. The apartment was clean, tidy and exceptionally well (nicely) maintained, especially for a place by the coast. Thanks, I'll be back.

We think they can replace beds. We also expected a double bed in the master bedroom and were disappointed with two single beds. They might think of fans. The canopies for car parking are a must! Furthermore, the apartments were nice and spacious and well located in a quiet environment near the sea.

It is very convenient that you are only a short walk from the beach. Woollies Food is less than 1 km from apartment. It's very nice that dishes are washed once a day. There are only four apartments, so there is no crowding.
