The chalet can accommodate up to 8 guests, and comprises 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area. 2 of the bedrooms contains a double bed each, and the other 2 bedrooms contain twin single beds. The kitchen is well-equipped to prepare and cook meals and also houses both a dishwasher and washing machine. The lounge houses a fireplace, a TV with full HD DStv, as well as a bar area. The living area opens to a patio, with a braai area. The chalet is cleaned daily.
The Doornkop Fish and Wildlife Reserve’s clubhouse offers communal swimming pools, tennis courts, as well as a games room. Basic grocery items and wood can also be purchased here.
Activities available on the reserve include horse riding, hiking trails, mountain bike trails, bird watching, fly fishing in any of the 8 stocked dams and game drives. The reserve is currently stocked with 15 species of non-dangerous large mammals, as well as 203 species of bird.

Loved every minute of it. Such a spacious house. Lots of activities and just so peaceful.
Lovely accommodation where children can cycle, fish and be children. Parents also had a good time.
Doornkop is a beautiful resort with lots of wildlife and the fishing ponds are very nice and clean. Doornkop22 is truly a very beautiful house with beautiful views over dams and the mountain. It was clean and well organized and the fireplace kept the house nice and warm. We had a great time relaxing with the fact that no one could be on their cell phones all day with the little signal there and that's exactly what you need to rest. We will go back to Doornkop22 any day.
We spent a long weekend here with our two daughters (18 and 20). It was very peaceful. Fly-fishing is excellent. There are plenty of walking and biking trails. Lots of animals to see and birding is wonderful too. Chalet is very comfortable and very well equipped. Kitchen has everything you would require, even a potjie pot. Lots of extra blankets, throws and pillows and the couches and beds are extremely comfortable. Lots of board games for those long evenings. Fridge is very large with a freezer section. There is also a smaller bar fridge in the bar. WiFi is available at reception to purchase. We did have cell reception in the house. Would recommend the Machadodorp road. Staff very friendly and accommodating and the owner is very responsive to any WhatsApps sent. We will be back.
The house itself was very comfortable and well appointed, everything we could possibly need or want in the kitchen, lots of extra comfy blankets for those cold nights, and thoughtful touches like the board games and the binoculars. Lovely patio and sunny lounge, fireplace inside heats up the whole living area, and great undercover braai outside. All in all, a great place to stay. We'll definitely visit again.

Fantastic accommodation with everything you need. The Doornkop Reserve is a beautiful gem to get away to. Unit 22 is designed to give you the best combination of a cool and breezy summer house and a cost warm winter retreat.
The only ones who bothered were guests who played loud music all day, which was disturbing and nothing was done about it. Also the fact that the cleaner comes in before 10am on Sunday morning.
Really a nice relaxing environment with activities for the kids as well. The lodge itself needs a bit of upgrading though.

We absolutely loved our stay. The place was easy to find and the road was smooth. No hassle to get the keys, everything was made easy for us. The house is absolutely stunning and well exceeded our expectations. The dishwasher was a great help (kitchen extremely well equipped). A wonderful lady also came to clean twice a day. The house was in great condition and had everything we needed. We will definitely be returning. Very impressed with Unit 22. Thank you for everything!

My family had an amazing holiday for a week at Doornkop unit 22. The place is clean. Beautiful, a sanctuary and a great family environment. Braai areas available, swimming pool, animal game drive. You literally do not have to go anywhere. It has entertainment for everyone. Neat kids play areas at club house. A large variety of board games. Great, friendly owners. We had a breakdown on our way and Simone was very helpful, advised where she could despite the car challenge. We absolutely had an amazing time.

Cellular reception at the reserve is limited (although coverage is perfect at the reserve’s gate - a 5 minute drive from the Chalet).The roads leading into and within the reserve are gravel based but are graded on a regular basis.
Regrettably no pets are allowed within the reserve nor in the chalet.
No fishing will be allowed without the necessary permits which can be obtained from clubhouse.
There are no organized game drives available on Doornkop, but guests are welcome to traverse in their own vehicles on the designated roads.
