12 guests' feedbackIt was incredibly fun. The birds, natural beauty and fresh farm milk make it a 'must' to visit. The house is nice and warm and there is plenty of space for larger groups or families.
Charming and very well-equipped old farmhouse with green-tinged views. A working sheep and dairy farm with plenty of walks and welcoming hosts.
We only stayed over one night on route, but would have loved to spend a few days there. Remote, working farm, kids loved it. Big house and well equipped, clean and comfortable.
Thank you to Anene and Paul Steyn for a fantastic stay! I love your farm. We experienced how your beautiful Guernsey cows were milked. And we loved the little piglets. The location is beautiful! We stayed for 9 nights and will definitely be back.
Anene and Paul were truly the best. Everything was spotless, tidy and exactly what we needed. If you want rest for your soul, want to hear and experience local atmosphere and sounds, visit Doornkraal. The nice conversation just happens passella and spontaneously. We will visit again.
The location was both a major issue and at the same time a big asset of the place. Doornkraal Heaven is tucked within a working farm in the middle of the hills. Anene is a very good host. Although there were a few times she was not able to attend to my small queries, she is a very good host. The house and the area are very good. Guests, especially those coming from the city or anyone not familiar with farm settings and location, must be given prior notice that to get to the place, a 4x4 vehicle is highly recommended. Sedan cars can be used, but due to the terrain, they should expect an off-road drive for around 20 to 30 minutes from the main road. Although, as we drove on several times, it became easier and easier as you get to know the road and what to avoid on the road. Apart from this, all is well. We greatly appreciate the fresh milk that we were graciously given and the firewood that they provide. We all enjoyed and appreciated the night sky. Far from light pollution in the city, the night sky was spectacular and breathtaking. The house is well-equipped and spacious. We will definitely be back and will bring the entire family with us. The house is big enough to share with a big family.

The house was spacious, comfortable and clean. The farm sounds were welcome, cows, parrots, dogs and tractors created a wonderful atmosphere.
Arrived at accommodation. Had to look for someone to assist, eventhough i had messaged with my ETA. Was told by staff that everything is open - just need to go through kitchen door. No cellphone reception (which i knew) about also no information sheet in accommodation with Wifi passcode. Again, had to look for someone to assist. Owners son didn't come across as very helpful.
Nine of us stayed over at Doornkraal as one of our stops on a 4 day cycle tour. Anene and Paul went out of their way to ensure that we were comfortable and enjoying our stay. From especially arranging for the viewing of the third Lions test, the fresh milk delivered twice daily to assisting us with their local knowledge in planning our route for the next day, it was great. The accommodation is ample and comfortable. The countryside is amazing together with the sights and sounds of a working farm. We will definitely be returning to Doornkraal in the future.
Anene's hospitality and their sincerity will stay with us.
