This was the worst accommodation we have ever stayed in and is overpriced and misrepresented. Upon arrival, the lodge wasn't clean - there were glass pieces on the floor (where my baby was crawling), a toilet was left unflushed (with a no. 2) and all the dish cloths were wet and dirty. One toilet had no light fitting, half of the light bulbs didn't work, the microwave was not safe to use as it had a hole on the inside, the sheets on the bed were damp, the wooden deck is not safe with loose and broken planks, the one door is taped together and, worst of all, there is a horrible sewage smell in the bathroom, kitchen and bedroom. The lodge is falsely advertised as having king-size beds while it only has double beds. There were only 4 teaspoons for a lodge that can accommodate 9 people. Everything was reported to the manager and they promptly responded and immediately acted to rectify what they could. Unfortunately, this meant that we had contractors (electrician twice, plumber twice, microwave delivery, dishcloth and teaspoon delivery) over 2 days of our 4-night stay. The manager's service and response time was excellent, and they acknowledged that the state of the house was unacceptable and sent chocolates as a small apology. However, the stay was already ruined. The plumber indicated the sewage tanks were full to the brim - even after it was emptied, the smell in the guest bathroom was so incredibly bad and nauseating, we were tempted to pack up and leave. On the day we left, we also found wet sheets stuffed in a kitchen cupboard. The house has not been maintained and is falling apart. Unfortunately, we were left to supervise some of the repairs on our holiday. The pictures used to advertise the lodge do not reflect the current state of the house. The host could not offer a refund, and it is extremely disappointing that we paid R16 for 4 miserable nights.

Lovely, tranquil experience with loads of buck and giraffe right on our doorstep. No cleaning service was received on the 2nd day and no toiletries supplied - eg hand soap or shower gel (we always received these in other lodges - especially for the price we paid). The clean up lady arrived at 8am to start cleaning - we needed to be out at 10am, and it was very irritating as she walked in on my daughter showering and was busy washing dishes while we were trying to eat breakfast. Surely she should arrive at 10am after our checkout!

Great location, a little dirt road, but nothing serious. There is no good cell phone coverage at all, so an option for WiFi at the lodge or tips on how to get a signal would be good. Everything was as expected and we had a great time relaxing and resting!

We had everything we needed, the place is modern and well equipped. It was nice to have the pool right there, we had buck come visit each day and the beds were really comfy. The ice machine was a nice extra. We also had buck come visit and our host was responsive when we had any questions.

Duiker Lodge, Ditholo Wildlife Estate is a very nice house in the bush, perfect for a family relaxing weekend. We really enjoyed the scenery. The house could do with soaps at the sinks and showers, better and more glasses as well as a tidier kitchen area. There is a bad smell in the kitchen coming from the sink/ice machine pipes.

Our stay was amazing. Sophia was so kind, my girls and I loved her. Would've loved if we were provided with complimentary coffee, sugar and tea because we didn't bring along as we assumed they will be provided. The network was super bad, which is understandable cause we were in the bush, but the WiFi worked perfectly fine. If you are planning on doing activities please prepare for disappointments and inconveniences. The place does not have a generator but the host and the estate manager were kind enough to send the loadshedding schedule and lights were provided for us. Our overall stay was amazing. Would definitely recommend!

The owners must please better pay attention to their cleaning services. You cannot charge R4000 per night and then your guests have to complain about basic hygiene. The toilets had urine stains on the seats, which I washed myself with Domestos. R4000 per night and I had to clean a toilet! The stove and oven were dirty. The cupboard handles were tough. It hasn't been dusted for so long that the dust is already making wool behind the furniture. We had to wash all the dishes ourselves when we arrived because they were dirty. The drying cloths at the unit were dirty, the washing machine had mold and dirt in it even after I showed the cleaners what to clean. The counters were dirty and sticky, in the cupboard where the brooms are to be stored are all the parts of the dishwasher, which is no longer in the unit. The mop and brooms are dirty and lying around the kitchen, because the broom cupboard is the ash heap for the dishwasher. The water pressure in the guest bathroom is zero to none and the balcony of the guest room was full of bird droppings, which had not been washed off for weeks. No, the place is badly managed. On our last visit to another lodge, I also let the management know that this place was not clean either. It is owned by the same owners. I guess that's just how they do things, but I don't think any of them see me or any of my family members again.

Duiker Lodge was the perfect weekend getaway from Pretoria. The finishes, kitchen facilities, living area, bedrooms and outside deck were heaven on earth. The swimming pool on the deck that looks out onto the bush is the biggest spoil. Will definitely recommend to - we will certainly go back a few times!

Duiker Lodge is one of the most luxuriously furnished of all places, but very remote. Make sure you haven't forgotten anything, because the dirt road is poor and it's difficult if your water or soft drink is too little and has to be bought. Orion main lodge is neglected and there is no playground for children.

We were there the weekend of October 27. What an incredible experience. From start to finish it was just so peaceful. The house was one of the cleanest thatched houses we have seen in a very long time. The house is very well equipped, quality of the furniture and cutlery was of the best quality. The relaxation in the evening around the barbecue fire is also very special. It's also very convenient that there is an indoor braai, as it rained on Saturday night, but that didn't stop us from braaiing. Using the game vehicle is a special experience and there was a lot of game to see. We will definitely use Duiker Lodge again as family or friends. Thank you very much for the great and friendly service that was given to us.

Overall an excellent experience and I would definitely like to stay at Duiker Lodge again.

Beautiful place. The inside braai is excellent and the home furnishings provide a lot of warmth to cancel out the winter cold. The house is very luxurious, tastefully decorated and well-equipped. It's great sitting on the deck and having the tame nyalas graze just a few metres away. This creates a very peaceful atmosphere. Good value for money. Would like to visit again.
