Was a great getaway from city life. Enjoyed beautiful walks to different spots on the farm. Did not expect the cottages to be so close to the main road and railway line though. But it did not detract from the beautiful surroundings.

Good stay. Cottage is well equipped and tidy. Beautiful farm - children really enjoyed it. The waterfall was a highlight! Bronwen is a consistent hostess and assisted us throughout. Will definitely go again (and take our bikes with us!).
Only feedback I would mention is that an extra mirror with a nearby power point could be added. Bathroom light is very dim and hard to do makeup there and it's too far from a power point.
We stayed in the Peppercorn Cottage over the weekend with our two dogs. The cottage had everything you need - stoep and braai area with a lovely view, a fully equipped kitchen, fireplace, comfortable bedding and clean bathroom. The walking trail is close to the cottage and it was a great experience with our dogs. Bronwen was extremely helpful and friendly. The only downside of the weekend was the owner who let her dogs roam free close to our cottage, even though it's a rule to keep your dogs on a leash close to where other guests stay. The dogs fought twice, which was terrible and careless of her to not follow her own rules. Our dogs aren't social, so for guests with social dogs it might not be a problem.
It is value for money, very nice place, house needs some attention when it comes to the little things but very nice place (grilling utensils, curtain in TV room, dirty carpets in TV room).
Our stay was lovely! Everything was neat and clean. The check-in process was super easy and Bronwen was helpful and friendly. The only downpoint was being so close to the main road.
This was our third time at the Country Cottages, absolutely love the area. I would just suggest that the accommodation could use more attention, especially the bathrooms and the roof and lights.

DSTV not working - LNB/dish faulty. No toilet seat. Poor fishing - 4 large dogs playfully swimming in the only dam we were allowed to use, then jumped up on us with muddy paws.
It was peaceful and the natural beauty naturally contributed to optimal appreciation of the place. We had a wonderful swim at the waterfall, spent evenings by the fireplace and had a nice barbecue on the porch.

Bronwen was extremely attentive. The farm is very pretty with waterfalls, fishing and picnic spots. Peacocks and farm dog were extremely friendly and entertained us during our stay. Very cozy on the very chilly nights.
Beautiful surroundings and if the weather cooperates, you can explore the area on foot.
Upon arrival, TV and DStv did not work. It wasn't until the next day at 10:30 that Netflix was set up for me. On the last day of my stay this was also wrong, like 2 out of 4 days no TV. Pet friendly and TV with DStv are my 2 main filters. It was raining so there was nothing to do but watch TV. So the situation was unacceptable. And their attitude and words were: "Sorry the weekend didn't work out for you." It is weak. I didn't get what I booked and paid for.

We really enjoyed our stay at Dullstroom Country Cottages. The owner was very helpful. We had to move our dates due to unforeseen circumstances and she helped us out in no time. We were stunned by the beautiful accommodation surrounded by natural beauty. It truly is the best place to get away and get a proper rest. We were not very far from town and could easily go and do activities in town. At Dullstroom Country Cottages itself there is also plenty of room for walking.

We had a wonderful stay at Dullstroom Country Cottages, we were very cozy in our Mustard Seed cottage and enjoyed the farm atmosphere and Dullstroom very much. Peppercorn Cottage is a very cosy little cottage with a well equipped kitchen, DStv and a lovely fireplace. Clean and neat. The fenced off area for pets is very small, out the back door with no grass and very muddy when it rains, but does include a cat/dog flap into the house. The farm has beautiful dams and areas for walking.
Just reported fridge not working but freezer does work, would have come to fix it, never did. All our stuff in the fridge went down.
Booked the place for my mom and aunt. They loved it and said they would definitely love to return. Bronwen is a gem of a host. The rooms are spacious and clean.

Very cute and beautiful accommodation on a farm a few kilometers outside Dullstroom. We stayed again on our honeymoon, but all the other cottages look just as cute. Nice walk on the farm, passing a few ponds and goats, and beautiful views. Excellent customer service from Bronwen and team.
The farm is well located, only a few minutes drive from the town. Definitely pack rain boots for the rainy farm days and prepare for lots of red dirt. Nice space for dogs around the house, and they enjoy the walking space as much as the children. Surrounded by green hills and eucalyptus trees, it's eerily peaceful, just make sure to pack activities for small children on the cold days. Wonderful service.
We booked Peppercorn for 3 adults for 4 nights. The day before arrival the owner asked us if we would be interested in upgrading to Hatch End, a three bedroom en suite house. What a privilege for the same price with everything you need and a fantastic view of the dam. Enjoy and will go again.
Views from Hatch End are stunning and doggies had a fantastic time. Super to be on the water directly in front of Hatch End (where we stayed) right away to fly fish on Bhembe dam. Took long, long walks all over the whole place and the dogs came back exhausted! Lit the fire in the lounge at night and was very cosy, the unlimited firewood (which was dry!) was an unexpected bonus. Will definitely be back again!
The road to the honeymoon suite is not for a small vehicle like a Polo! But we had a very nice stay.

The Honeymoon Cottage is beautiful and tidy inside. There is a lovely bathroom with a large shower and window that opens so it feels like you are showering under the trees. The room is spacious with a very comfortable bed. You can sit quietly on the stoep and visit. The surroundings are truly beautiful - make sure you have time to walk around the farm. There is also a beautiful waterfall at the Picnic Cottage - definitely a little piece of paradise with large tree ferns and lush green vegetation. I would definitely book the Honeymoon Cottage again, although there were a few things that bothered me. In front of the cottage there is a built cement pond - which unfortunately has no water in it. It really is an eyesore and creates a negative impression when one arrives there. Behind the cottage there is also a dilapidated building standing among tall grass. When you open the bathroom window, you look out onto this. We were spoiled with the sound of rain on the tin roof throughout the night and in the early morning the trees were just phantom figures in the fog - we could experience Dullstroom at its best.
The cottages are private, far from others. We stayed in Mustard Seed, a cute stone cottage. It's a beautiful farm and ponds are within walking distance of the cottage. Ample firewood was provided and we enjoyed the fireplace and braai area on the porch. The management was available all the time to provide information and provide what was lacking. It is located on the main road and train track next to it, so unfortunately you hear the noise of vehicles and the train, but the beautiful scenery makes up for it and we still enjoyed it. The main bedroom has a queen bed, not a king as indicated on LekkeSlaap, but this was not a problem for us.

There are many other properties in the area that are better value for money. Facilities were average for the amount charged, cottage is not attached to the house, thus only a 4-sleeper house with separate cottage for 2 guests. It appears that there was some sort of mould or damp in the one bathroom on the ceilings, main room and second room on the roof. Had numerous issues with the access control during the stay, had to keep calling the local agent to gain access to the property as gate keypad didn't work. It is noted, once booked, that guests can only fish at 1 specific dam in front of the house and not at any of the other weirs or dams on the property. Lots of weeds surrounding the banks of the dam and not as accessible as some of the other fishing spots on the property. Domestic worker was very friendly and did a great job of making sure house was made up daily and dishes were cleaned. Sufficient firewood was provided for the fireplace.
The flyfishing was on par at Bembe Dam, but the cottages are too far from the waters. Would not suggest to stay there if you want to flyfish, but for a stayover would suggest it.
We stayed in Peppercorn Cottage which is marketed as pet friendly. However, the yard is not fenced which makes it very difficult with dogs. The ad didn't mention it wasn't fenced. The house is also very close to the road and it is very noisy until late at night with all the trucks on the road.
The place itself was a little rustic and dated, but it was clean and had everything we needed. We took the dogs with us, and they had a blast. The farm's location is right next to the main road, so you do hear a bit of traffic noise. I also feel that the farm has a wonderful environment with many potential amenities, but they are underutilised. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
The photos and expectation of The Croft's was over sold, the unit did not look like the photos - the unit was out dated and would say it is overpriced for what you get.
Place was very neat, but there is no security. Your car is parked very far out in the open. It's non-stop noise from all the trucks and vehicles, because the accommodation is so close to the main road. Much quieter at our house which is in the city. No didn't enjoy it at all. Such an incredibly beautiful place with a lot of potential.

The accommodation at Dullstroom Country Cottages comprises charming cottages and cabins, and can accommodate between 2 to 8 people. The units have bedrooms furnished with comfortable beds, and bathroom facilities with baths and showers. Each unit has a private kitchen that is equipped with a stove, an oven, a microwave, a fridge, as well as tea- and coffee-making facilities, and guests can relax in cosy lounges fitted with fireplaces for the colder days or evenings.
For pet owners, the Mustard Seed Cottage, the Peppercorn Cottage, and Hatch End are pet-friendly accommodation that is fenced for dog’s safety, and pets are welcome at an additional cost. Pets can unfortunately not be accommodated at the Honeymoon Suite, the Crofts, the Picnic Cottage, and Bhembe.
Guests can walk, jog, cycle, enjoy a picnic at one of the picnic areas under the oak trees on the farm, or relax on their private patio and watch the incredible birdlife and view the small game. The farm also boasts large dams for fishing and offers different fishing packages on request. Guests must bring their own fishing gear. The large Bhembe Dam is open to all guests on the farm, and fishing in this dam is inclusive with your accommodation. Fly fishing only, the establishment do supply rules to guests as well. The other dams on the property are syndicated, so not generally open to guests unless by prior arrangement through the Exclusive Fishing Package. Please ask about this if you are interested.
Dullstroom offers guests a variety of shops and restaurants and a choice of activities such as fishing and hiking trails, and guests can visit the Dullstroom Nature Reserve, Steenkampsberg Nature Reserve, and the Verloren Vallei Nature Reserve.
