47 guests' feedbackThe stay was everything we expected and more. The house was clean, had everything we needed and was very secure (accidentally set off the alarm twice and security was there in a flash).
It was indescribably delicious, thank you.
Absolutely fantastic.
Absolutely loved it. Beautiful finishing, good quality appliances.
We were so impressed with the house. The house is so beautiful. We were a little sad when the weekend was over. We plan to book again. We are just checking our calendars.
Beautiful, clean and tidy accommodation, very quiet and very close to the sea.
For the price, it was more than expected. Cosy little place within walking distance to the beach, waterfront, and the Jolly Roger. The cottage just needs an ironing board and some coasters.
Top marks for the location of Dunesberry, very close to the beach. Considering my booking was for a long stay, we were able to find a few flaws and maybe things to consider to add or change, namely: a tap out the front to rinse off beach sand, move the washing line (things impossible to dry at the back with no sun), a mirror in the main bedroom, and maybe giving the bathroom floor tiles a good scrub. One thing we were not able to make use of was the fireplace due to the glass being broken, but we were happy that a gas heater was provided. Overall, Dunesberry was a good little holiday home, the amenities that it had to offer (WiFi, heated blankets, etc.) really made for a good stay, and I would definitely book it again.
The cottage was lovely to stay in. The beds and bedding were just excellent. We slept so well. It truly felt like a 5 star hotel. Unfortunately there was no complimentary tea, coffee, sugar, milk, biscuits or water. It was quite disappointing. Otherwise we had a great time.
I booked this place as a gift to my parents, and they loved it.
Lovely, terribly cold, only duvet on master bedroom bed, no blanket as we have electric blankets! We don't like to sleep with an electric blanket all night. Gas heater outside operation, oil heater so-so. Stofie's glass is broken, but we could still use it. We really need blankets.
Lovely weekend away, Dunesberry was a good choice. Only downside, there was no WiFi the entire time we were there.
Beautifully furnished, from dishwasher, washing machine and gas hob for "loadshedding". Very quiet street. Would definitely recommend it to anyone.
It's close to everything and a very beautiful and cosy house.
Great experience and value for money.
We had an amazing time!
Everything one needed was available including a lovely kitchen.
Beautiful house. Neat and clean. Well equipped.
I and 2 of my girlfriends spent the weekend at Dunesberry Cottage. We loved how the cottage is furnished and its proximity to the beach. However, we feel that it required more of the basics, like an extra toilet roll for each bathroom, an axe to chop wood, a fire stoker, tea, coffee, sugar in jars on arrival, hand sanitiser in bathrooms and air freshener. An inverter is definitely needed for loadshedding. The cottage is very beautiful as well as the surroundings but we had a few weird, suspicious incidences of men showing up at the cottage claiming to be sent by some woman named Charlene, and random guys showing up with lists for various donations. As we were only females, it did make us feel anxious a bit and our security was threatened but overall, it's a very nice quiet place.
Fix toilets and drains! This is disgusting! Cut trees at braai area, do some touch-ups. Clean couches!
Dishwasher does not work. Braai light broken - loose damaged unit on floor / shower in 2nd bathroom leaks between bath and glass panel on the floor. Tone and consideration of letting agent disgusting! We were 30 mins late dropping off the keys - despite loadshedding that morning - zero consideration! Did they expected us not to try and clean up without the non-working dishwasher. No comment like "How was your stay? Or any issues? Where are the keys should have been here by 10am."
Very good location away from the busy part of Paternoster with a short walk to the sea and rocks, best for early morning or dusk visits. Quiet surroundings with plenty of birds in the area, and the little owls and kestrels that were visible and audible every day and night were a bonus. The roar of the sea is audible at night and the Cape Columbine Nature Reserve is just around the corner.
Great accommodation, very comfortable. Walking distance to a beautiful beach. Great restaurants down the road. Paternoster is worth a visit.
Will come again. That says it all.
Can only add braai facilities to kitchenware.
I think what is missing that many places do offer (and we get used to this) is a small amount of coffee, sugar, tea a little hand soap, toilet spray, some basic spices, salt and pepper. A friend was with us who flew in from JHB and was very unprepared with regards to coffee etc. and we could only get to the shops in the morning. The cottage was very well appointed and we were most comfortable and the location is perfect. I would mention that the shelf in the spare room next to the bed is a danger (I almost hit my head twice on it) and the bath shower needs a slip mat.
Alarm does not always activate.
Place has everything one wants.
House very nicely furnished and very tidy. A bigger pan in the kitchen will help a lot. Would stay there again anytime!
Dunesberry is a very cute cottage. We had a very nice stay, however, there are no sharp knives and the knife tips are all broken off. There is also no cutting board in the kitchen. No extra blankets for when it's cold like the weekend we were there. And the DStv remote's batteries were flat so we couldn't get the sound that was on mute when the rugby was on. Apart from that, it was very nice to stay there and the friends who came along also said they would go to the cottage again in the future.
It was everything we expected and more!
Great location with quality restaurants within walking distance. We enjoyed our glass of wine on the little stoep.
Dunesberry is situated in the best possible location in Paternoster. The house was clean and modern. Pictures on the website should be updated though. The electric blankets is a fantastic personal touch. Definitely our new preferred place to stay in Paternoster. It's really close to the beach. The break equipment could be updated somewhat.
Dunesberry was a great place to spend our weekend away. It is in a quiet street and walking distance to the beach. The house is very well equipped (some extra bath towels would be nice though). The bedding is of excellent quality, the house is extremely clean and tidy, and stylishly decorated. The outdoor barbecue has a lovely atmosphere. Good security. Will stay here again for sure. (Note: photos on website need to be updated).
Very well equipped and tastefully furnished accommodation. Will definitely come again.
We had a great stay at Dunesberry. Although you don't directly look out on the waves, you are bad a stone's throw from the sea. The unit is beautifully furnished. It was comfortable and well equipped, with everything you could possibly need. It's winter in the Cape and a storm moved in, but we were cozy and kept the 'coal' burning all weekend. We had a nice time walking around and hanging out in Paternoster and had a nice rest.
Confusing: the Dunesberry house number is on the left building, but the entrance is on the right, in the middle of a window party (no front door). But the alarm system works around both buildings. A second separate alarm system has been installed within the summer house, splitting the living area from the two bed- and bathrooms. Furthermore, typically a house by the sea, painted in white, gray and blue. The TV dates from the Middle Ages, so definitely bring books and magazines with you. Sitting outside with a strong wind is hardly possible: the braai is bricked up separately and divides the back garden in two, resulting in al lot of drafts.
Dunesberry is a modern spacious house with nice rooms, kitchen and bathrooms. However, there were a few things that bothered: The braai area is impractical with little privacy. There was no coffee, tea, sugar or milk. There is currently building construction going on at 3 different sites adjacent to the property - noise levels were high on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Branches of trees rub against the roof on the back porch - very disturbing at night. On the web page there is a fireplace in the living room (main reason why we took the house). However, the fireplace no longer exists - there is now a double door leading to the back porch. There is a small metal duster in the corner and a heater. As far as I'm concerned, it's false advertising. To summarize - expensive and not what we expected. So, I would recommend Paternoster but not Dunesberry.
Only issue is the dampness in the rooms. A tumble dryer is needed in winter. Everything stays wet, especially the towels.
The cleanliness and state of house was much more than I expected.
Furniture, facilities and kitchen appliances are definitely above average. Decor is comfortable, classy. Spacious, clean and very comfortable. Duvets on single beds were too short for tall adults.
The accommodation is modern and tastefully decorated, with the most beautiful colours. Quiet and peaceful street. Literally 100m from a private beach.
The TV is pre-historic. Surely a modern flat screen compatible with the rest of the establishment can be provided.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dunesberry, even though it was raining. The house is beautiful and very well equipped and beds extremely comfortable. We suggest that mats be provided on the outside from the stoep to the lounge, as well as at the front door to wipe feet when it rains as the flooring became very dirty. The beams outside were also not working properly. A hook could be provided on the front door. The rubbish was left and laying on the ground next to the bin on our arrival.
Dunesberry is safe, peaceful and can be enjoyed with family and friends! Will definitely stay there again!
Attention to detail excellent. However, cottage extremely cold, as boarded up. The smell from the indoor fire unfortunately leaves a very unpleasant smell of smoke that permeates the whole area. This should not be a problem in the summer when it's possible to open up the cottage.
