We felt very safe and the few people we did bump into walking past were very friendly. The only sad part was that we didn't get to spend more time there. We went up for a wedding so only really slept there, then had to leave again to go home. We would definitely refer friends to go. And we will be going back again. Thank you for making our stay a good one.

The location is of course amazing. The view is beautiful. Although the house is no longer new, it is very well looked after. Apartment was very very neat and clean. Slept wonderfully on good beds. We were a group of 5 adults and maybe 1 bathroom for so many guests is not always convenient. However, we managed very well and enjoyed it immensely. Both the owner and the wife were very friendly and helpful. All arrangements are communicated well in advance and there are no uncertainties. Very professionally handled. Thank you very much again.
Cottage is upgraded and more beautiful than the photos. Nice holiday home with everything you need in it. Quiet surroundings and children can still walk to the park.

The fireplace was a bonus especially with the rain on our arrival.
Property needs to be updated and some maintenance needs to be done. Also, the whole house needs a good steam clean and furniture and linen need some freshening up.

We got an update every day about the loadshedding schedule and could plan our day accordingly. The washing machine and dishwasher were an added bonus. Herolds Bay is a lovely place to holiday.
It's in a quiet neighborhood with only a house on one side, the other side is fields. Heroldsbaai has a beautiful beach where you can still see and pick up shells. Had a great time.

Ek is mal oor gasheer en vrou. Vir ons ligte kom regmaak en my gerus gestel oor veiligheid. Ek het probleem gehad dat ek my gestremde seun glad nie kon stort nie - en moes elke dag alternatief kry vir hom. Daar was nie swartsakke vir voorsiening om alle asblikkies leeg te maak nie. Ook om self beddegoed af te trek en dan stand van kussings te ervaar was nie vir my lekker. Mooi view - maar nie weer opsie vir my.

My friends and I don't mind going back for another vacation there. The house is close to the beach and hiking trails are awesome to take. The only downfall is that we were not made aware of the small shop in the vicinity for the bare necessities, which led us to driving to George CBD every time.

Herolds Bay is one of the top 3 most beautiful coastal towns in South Africa. Truly a wonderful place to vacation.
The place is very neat and very nice view.
Can mention: Gas for heater was empty, bedrooms very cold. Not extra black bags in drawer as per owner's instructions on litter disposal. Dishwasher handy but not washing/working thoroughly, tried several 'cycles'. We had a nice walk - might add, walking route as recommended to Heroldsbaai swimming beach can only be reached at low tide - had to turn around. Don't think gas bottle in kitchen for stove/oven is according to regulations - must be outside the house for safety.
The place is value for money but the kitchen goods need attention, pots and pans badly rusted, cutlery not up to standard, braai facilities need attention. Bring your own barbecue grill. The fireplace is a winner! We will rent the place again, just prepare better next time.

Dut Hut is a very cute place. We were very hospitably received by a spontaneous woman Helena. Her passion for Herolds Bay is incredible. It's probably my favorite place I've ever vacationed. Lots of great things to do close to Herolds Bay. The scenery is breathtaking.

The views at Dut Hut are truly amazing and you wake up to the sound of the waves and when you go sleep at night. The accommodation was clean and neat and had everything that you needed. The dishwasher and washing machine was also very handy. Helena was absolutely amazing. She kept us informed daily with regards to any changes and really made us feel so welcome. I loved the peacefulness and serenity of this place. Will definitely come back.

The house is a detached house at Heroldsbaai Heights. The house was very neat and clean upon arrival. Amenities such as hot water, dishwasher and washing machine are all pluses. Helena made an extra effort to let us know daily when there is loadshedding and also about activities in the area. Had a great time and would definitely go back again, would recommend the place wholeheartedly.
Excellent accommodation, very neat and quiet environment. Unit was very neat and clean and the treats left for us in the unit were not only a surprise but something you don't find everywhere. The hospitality and concern of Helena and help and advice with anything you ask, is only nice if you are a bit strange in the area.

It was wonderful to go to sleep every night and wake up every morning with the sound of the sea in one's ears. The house is conveniently located. Only a few minutes from the airport and beach. It is also very private and unspoilt with a rich bird life. We will not stay anywhere else if we visit the Garden Route again and will recommend Dut Hut to everyone.

Everything was nice, but the fact that we had to go out at 10:00 ... I think we should've been able to leave at 5 o'clock. The DStv was also switched off when we woke up and that was around 8 o'clock ─ far from going home.

What a beautiful, spacious and tidy place! The service was great from the owner to the hostess, Helena! Everyone was so helpful and friendly. The house was beautifully clean and tidy. There was absolutely nothing that was too short. The view from the deck is breathtaking, we were even treated to schools of dolphins frolicking in the waves! The scenery and bird life around the cottage is beautiful. There is nothing we can complain about. Perfect place for a weekend getaway or even for a longer vacation! A little house almost in the woods and almost in the town while the roar of the sea sounds peacefully below. Friendly hostess who takes our recommendations to heart. If you want tranquility, want to see and hear the sea and don't mind being within walking distance of the sea, this is ideal. Enough space for 6 people comfortably. Cute wooden house with a cozy atmosphere. Furnished well enough.

We had a great stay, breathtaking view. Tidy place, clean linen. Was really nice.
How we loved this little hidden gem! Beautifully located, fully equipped (except for the towels, but we knew this), and very very comfortable. With three bedrooms, a kitchen, sitting and dining area and even a 7th spare bed, there was more than enough room for my parents, my husband, our two small children and I. We are only sorry we stayed only one night and didn't have time to use the braai-area or drive down to the beach.

Bathroom water leaks all over the floor and out the door and the wood is already rotten on the toilet side. Suggest different bathroom and better toilet for the price. Seen better places for less money and more modern. Television was also switched off on Sunday evening instead of Monday after 10 am View from barbecue balcony very bad, trees too high. The owner of the house apparently lives in Durban. Had to call her to find out where we could get key. Was very unfriendly and demanded that we pay the further R1,200 immediately, otherwise she won't let us. There had been no previous arrangements made regarding this and since I had already paid a R1,200 deposit, I assumed it would usually be paid once we got there. I will never support or recommend this place again.
Incredible location and view, braai deck and fireplace a plus and that's where it ends. The inside of kitchen cabinets very dirty, pots dirty, curtains dirty. The beds, mattresses, bedding, pillows unacceptable to offer to paying guests. My advice to ensure guests come again: take out everything in Dut Hut, paint it out, do something to the inside of cupboards and refurbish the whole place with better quality, luxury furniture. Do not forget about decent mirrors in bedrooms. Dut Hut already has potential, it just needs to be exploited.

Although the weather was cool and rainy, we really enjoyed it and it was comfortable. We can see from previous reviews that a lot of improvements have been made. Cushions can only improve too, then it will be unbeatable.
