22 guests' feedbackDuwisib is much more unique than one would read at first glance. The history of this farm is almost as old as Namibia and the guest farm's buildings reflect this history. The original Duwisib Castle stands as it was built and inhabited and is within walking distance of the guesthouses. The view from the main building is to the west and there are few places on earth that can offer a better sunset than western Namibia. Duwisib guest farm is situated slightly high and the view over the Namib Desert until the sun goes down is excellent. There are beautiful outdoor seats and also braai places to be able to enjoy it from the early afternoon. The management keeps their finger on the pulse and everything is in excellent condition. The manager knows the history and stories of the area and the country. It is a pleasure to listen to him. He is fully trilingual and can entertain most guests with cute stories in their first language. Meals in the restaurant are flavorful and mostly some game dish combined with locally available vegetables plus starch. The rooms are new, spacious and beautifully clean. There is nothing that can make one feel negative. People may wonder about the fact that there is no air conditioning, but the experienced Namibian will soon be able to tell you that the faithful west wind from the sea brings in a chill every afternoon that will make you reach for a sweater rather than turn on the air conditioning. . I can recommend Duwisib guest farm without hesitation and I will gladly visit the place again.

It was one of the coldest nights. There was originally no power, but he arranged a power point for us so we could put on our electric blankets to stay warm at night! Will definitely stay there again.

Duwisib has a beautiful camping area. The bathrooms are lovely clean and neatly furnished. A lot of effort is really put into making it as comfortable as possible for the guests. The camping area is neatly raked, clean with nice braai and washing facilities. I would recommend Duwisib, it was lovely to spend the night there and visit with our friends and family.
Was delicious! After a long journey it was the best to be able to sit back and grill a chop.
We were 4 couples who stayed overnight at Duwisib. Although it was very cold, the facilities were great. The fridge was a bit of a problem because of the size.

The purpose of our trip was to visit Sossusvlei. Closer accommodation is very expensive. So we used Duwisib as a base, from where we traveled for the day on the C27 route to Sossusvlei and then back to Duwisib on the C19 route. The historic castle, other buildings and the stables are very interesting, the place is very reasonably priced and offers everything needed for self-catering facilities.
Near the old German castle, Duwisib, lies the historic guest house. This is the right place to relax for a few days and sit and read with a book on the veranda of your room. The rooms are simple, but neatly and kindly furnished. The hosts, Jochen and his son Christian, were very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed chatting with Jochen about farm life in the evening with a glass of wine.
Visit was nice. We asked for breakfast which was incredibly meager for more than R100 per head we only got scrambled eggs and fried bread. With cereal porridge. At least one would have expected something like that from a meat. Also nice and neat.

Nice natural campsite under a nice tree, with water, sink, table, barbecue area, etc. Ablutions very nice, neat and clean, with sufficient hot water.
Duwisib Guest Farm is right next to the Duwisib Castle, you can leisurely walk to the castle and take your time to view it. It's a long way to get there and we found it was worth sleeping over. The guest house is clean and tidy, the dinner was delicious farm food and the host really made you feel at home.
Duwisib Guest Farm & Camping is quite far, but not too far out of our way, but well worth a visit by far. The guest house rooms are very nice and clean and definitely worth the money to stay at. Parking at the rooms with a farm atmosphere. Friendly reception at the guest house, as well as near the Duwisib Castle.
The staff and host were very friendly and helpful. The room was a little disappointing, we expected a lot more for the money we paid. The bed was very hard, the mattress is thin and uncomfortable. My wife could not sleep at night with her sore back. The shower was freezing cold and then suddenly hot again and immediately freezing cold. The food was tasty but for the price per person, the food was not worth the money. I think the prices are aimed at the overseas market and not us ordinary South Africans. The location and surroundings were a pleasant experience.
We spent one night in a chalet at Duwisib Guest Farm. There was one large living room with four single beds, and a bathroom with shower. A little outside our unit there was a kitchen that we could use. The owner, Christiaan, sold us meat to grill. Duwisib itself is not much of a tourist destination, but is suitable as a stopover on the way to further attractions.
A private braai place for each room would be nice, as well as a simple "coffee station" with kettle, mugs, coffee/tea/sugar in each room would be a big plus. There is one common kitchen and braai for all the rooms. It's a bit expensive for what you get.
