I can't rate customer service, there wasn't really time to interact, but I believe it would have been great if they were there. Something I can recommend is a plug for the sink in the toilet, we just improvised, would have liked to enjoy the pool but it was not feasible. But overall, Ebenezer was a winner. 10/10 for cleanliness from gate to inside. rooms.
Good place for a quick stopover. After a long drive, it's just no fun getting into a cold shower and then going to bed cold.

Very clean room, beds and pillows are very comfortable, air conditioning is always a bonus, there are basic kitchen supplies in the rooms, overall happy with the stay.
Pictures of booking the room were not the same as it was on arrival. I chose white bedding and I got old bedding, but it was clean. But it didn't feel right.

Huge neat and beautiful room inside the old house. Floors creak, and remind me of an old farmhouse. Very beautiful and neat. Grounds are well maintained and also pretty neat. Friendly staff who were very helpful. The only thing that bothered me a bit was privacy, but as an overnight destination you don't need anything more. We will come again to sleep over.
No effort made, it's just a place to sleep and wash. Will definitely not stay there again.

After a long day on the road, all you want is a hot shower and a warm bed. Ebenezer is a neat, safe and fun place to relax. The owner recently put electric blankets on the beds in all their rooms. Definitely helps for the cold winter weather.

Ideal venue as a stopover. The host was very accommodating as we checked in very late. Bedding was clean and we had a comfortable sleep before continuing our journey. I'll definitely consider them in future should we need a stopover.
Safe, clean and tidy accommodation, just a pity the beds are not comfortable to sleep on. A comfortable bed is the minimum requirement after a long journey, get it right then I would definitely recommend them.
The photos they advertise and what you get do not look the same at all. The water in the shower pushes up to above your ankles. Tucked into a corner in a small hallway and the pool was dirty and full of cement.
The place does not look at all like the advertisement. The shower was blocked and was not nice either, will not stay there again.

I can not say that I would go back there again. Yes, the people were friendly and the sheets were clean, but sadly that is the only positive thing that I can say. We had to ask for toilet paper. The kettle wasn’t working. There was no fridge nor bedside lamps and no place to hang up towels. I understand that it is the festive season and a very busy time, but when paying a lot of money for accommodation, you would expect the basics to be in your room. As for safety, the car was parked inside the property, but the gate was always open!
Will definitely be returning and can really recommend Ebenezer.

We had a very nice stay at Ebenezer and were received in a friendly manner by Marie. The accommodation is in a beautiful old house and it is very neat and clean with good parking and it is safe.

I am very set on hygiene and was disappointed that the rooms weren't clean. Lights without screens and lights tied with galvanised wire is unacceptable. The soap dishes in the showers are unstable and the towel rail is loose (tile is loose frm wall).
It was quite a story getting in touch with the person in charge. No office area. Our room was neat and clean but the bathroom door made a loud squeaking noise, loose toilet seat, showerhead didn't word and dirty water in the swimming pool. At a rate of R1300 per night these types of errors are unacceptable.
The room was clean and tidy and the people were friendly and helpful. The aircon just wasn't terribly effective and there was some uncertainty about our booking that took a while to resolve.

I booked a room with a double bed, she showed us to a room with 2 single beds because the place was "very full" as if we didn't book early enough and she's doing us a favour! No thanks, they won't see us again.
Quite pricey for what you get. Toilet door cannot be closed, toilet does not flush fully. Mattresses uncomfortable.

We often spend the night at Ebenezer's. Colesberg is horribly hot in the summer, we had 2 fans and air conditioning in our room and still died from the heat. The people are always friendly. And the pool is nice after a long drive.
I would like to recommend that burglar bars be put up in front of the windows, seeing as it is located on the street. Being from Gauteng, we're always extra safe. We were in the room right next to the street. Thanks.

Well situated guest house with friendly staff. Neat and tidy, beds very comfortable, airconditioning an absolute pleasure.
We have stayed at various places in Colesburg so we are in a position to compare. The room we were allocated was much too expensive for what we got. Three double beds to accomodate six people in one room. We were only three people but had we been six people I would have been really unhappy. The problem is, we still paid for six people. The furniture is old, the TV was even older. I had the feeling that previous people had slept on the linen we got. The towels were fresh and white. Nice garden outside the room and we were allowed to have our 6 month old Labrador puppy there which was good.
Power keeps tripping, somebody else seems to be controlling the TV's sound. This place won't see me again.
The reception was very poor. There was no hot water the next morning. The toilet was not working well my husband had to fix it himself. The workers helped us with booking and all the time they had to make sure what to do first. The rooms were very clean and tidy.

Accommodation was ideal. Unfortunately there was no hot water by 8pm that evening. It was really hot and we didn't use the air conditioning on the advice of the owner (the power was going to kick in if we used it). I just used the fan then, the power went out during the night anyway. We hardly slept at all because of the heat. So there was no electricity the next morning either, so we only drove around 05:00 - dead tired. Didn't sleep so well this time.
Although our first experience was not very positive, the landlady listened to our complaints and corrected them by giving us another room. Rooms are clean and tidy and the people are friendly. Marie also helped us get to a doctor when we needed it.

The facilities are very clean and tidy, but at bath time there was no hot water! When we arrived, the 6-bedroom we had booked was not available. We swapped with other guests so that my children could sleep in a room with us. Parking spaces are limited and quite an organization to get vehicles in and out!
After problems with the booking and after paying the full amount for a specific room we had to settle for sub-standard accommodation at the rate for the room we booked but did not get. The long and the short of it is that I did not get the service I paid for, and all I can show now for the abnormal cost I incurred is a promise that I will get a better unit at a lower rate when I book there again.
The pool was green and the kids couldn't swim after a long day on the long hot road. The TV was broken and only had 1 channel so we couldn't watch TV. There were people talking very loudly outside.

Unprofessional and undergoing a facelift. On arrival could not get on to property - no reception, and once in, there was no record of my reservation. The host was very accommodating eventually. DStv selection was only available from a central point, which was a nuisance. TV set was old. No breakfast on-site, but nearby fast food outlet. Good location with access to N1.
The 1st and 2nd boilers in the room were out of order and no bins were available.

Good location. I would recommend a welcome kit for all the guests, because very low information was given of what to do, where to eat in Colesberg.
Things that need attention are the absence of a shower curtain, TV channels and the parking which is not good. The air conditioner doesn't work either.
For one night the rooms are sufficient. I don't know if it's worth the money. Rooms are small for the amount of people who have to fit in them with luggage, but it's neat.
Too pricey for what you get. DStv - one channel for everybody.
Neither I nor my husband slept much, because the big trucks make noise in the night when they pass in the street.
Safety was a problem as windows open onto street and there are no bulgar bars on windows.

One bedroom with 2 double beds for 3 adults, the bathroom was too small to accommodate more than 1 person at a time. On arrival, 2 Jan 2015, the room had no airconditioning for 3 hours (temparature was more than 30 degrees on the day). No value for money - only 2 SABC TV channels, no mini-fridge or microwave in the room.
The guest house was clean and adequate for an overnight stay, but the price was expensive. It was very hot and we got very hot in the room (without air conditioning).
The landlady was very friendly, but there is no cell phone signal, only 4 TV channels. The place has ants and is small and cramped. The photos and description on the internet are very misleading. I showed my kids the pictures the next day and they were impressed, but couldn't believe it when I said, "that's where we slept last night"!

They never see me again!
There is no reception where someone can give you a key. The door couldn't close properly, we had to keep it locked the whole time. The owners bothered 2 times to use the safe in our room. The TV did not work and no attention was given when we reported it. The bathroom light did not work. The cold water faucet did not work. The toilet leaks all the time. There was no hot water when I wanted to take a shower at 19:00 and bathe my 5-month-old baby. We had to walk past a person lying in a bed sleeping all the time to go out. We just walked through the private kitchen later to avoid it.
Maybe would have appreciated a clean pool more.
