It was very nice. The receptionist at Echo Garden Guesthouse is a very pleasant lady. She went out of her way to make me feel welcome. I will check in there again if I have to go to Rustenburg. Thank you very much.
Upon paying the full amount, they referred us to an alternative accommodation, which was not the standard we signed up for and it seems they are used to referring guests there. The staff were not expecting us, were rude and not welcoming, and treated us with no respect. They didn't explain anything nor show us the premises, therefore we didn't know where the facilities were and had to drive out for all our meals. The suite that was allocated to us was stuffy, and we had little to no privacy. Definitely not book with Eco Gardens, nor would I recommend it.
The overnight stay was not in line with the price range. My colleague's sleep was disturbed by the guest in the next room talking loudly on her mobile phone (speaker on) until 12 midnight. That breakfast is not included is hidden on the ad. This should be stated more clearly. The fridge (which was empty) disturbed my night's sleep by switching on and off throughout the night. There was a dog in the yard next door that barked from time to time throughout the night. The breakfast was a "take what you get" plate that was already prepared and was standing and getting cold when I entered the venue 10 minutes before the appointed time. The WiFi's signal is too weak to be usable in the outdoor room. Summary - for the price range one would expect better accommodation than we found.
Worked hot, got there after a hot day only to find the air conditioning not working. With no air flow in the tiny room and no air conditioning it was an uncomfortable night with the fan provided a scant comfort. No bottle of cold water or ice cubes in the fridge like you get at other places. Put my empty suitcase on the cupboard above the fridge. When I took it off a flurry of accumulated dust came with it!
Other guests until 02:00 in a room with an open door noise. After that, still knocking on doors and making noise. Also, guests stood by our bedroom window at night and smoked. The toilet seat is broken.
Enjoyed the stay place, was fine.
Very friendly staff and they looked well after us.
