88 guests' feedbackOur visit was very nice, the fireplace is heavenly when it is so cold and we got free wood to braai with and use for the fireplace. We will definitely go back again.
It is always the best place for a weekend getaway. The owners are always so friendly and the houses are so nice and cuddly in nature.
Beautiful place. Very neat, well equipped and comfortable. The service was excellent. Thank you very much!
Wonderful comfortable accommodation away from the city, and a quick drive from the West Rand in Gauteng. Unit was well equipped and could make a great fire. Place is well furnished with incredible views, and a lovely swimming pool. Also think it is convenient if you book the chalets for a family visit weekend. Night sounds surround a farm visit, and make you feel as if you are far away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Skotelbraai is a treat for a nice outdoor breakfast.
Karen's place is perfect.
Warm and welcoming, very quiet, have peace of mind.
Wonderful peaceful relaxation in nature.
Lovely stay, quiet and relaxing, large bedrooms, wood provided by fireplace and also a skottle braai.
Was nice for a business trip, just overslept, couldn't enjoy much of the nature, due to arriving too late in the evening. The wildlife and birds can provide a peaceful stay.
Cottage was tidy, but there are no hiking trails or wildlife viewing on the grounds and in your ad it says that there are hiking trails and wildlife viewing. It's just an uncultivated farm with houses for sleeping, there is a swimming pool for everyone to use.
We had a lovely time as usual, privately situated with a nice braai area and a lovely pool, close to attractions. Karen is a great host as always. Thank you!
Value for money. As advertised.
Spacious cottages with beautiful surrounding wildlife. A good place for relaxing, reading and bird watching.
Still one of the most beautiful places to get away from the city. Perfectly located near small towns where there are activities going on all weekend.
Houses well equipped and tidy. Host and wife very friendly and helpful. Nice fireplace in the living area and free wood is provided daily. Very peaceful and beautiful surroundings.
My in-laws really enjoyed the break, especially the silence.
Very pleasant to have some silence around you and nice and quiet.

Our stay at Game Farm exceeded our expectations. Karen and her husband were so friendly and helpful. We are keen to go back next time we need a quiet and peaceful getaway for a few days.
Shouldn't call it a game farm, as there is no game. Otherwise all in order.
We loved every minute of our stay and the experience was made even better by our hosts! Wonderful people who go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable!
I was looking for a place to 'find' myself, to find the meaning of my existence and my purpose on this planet, so I was looking for a place where I could be alone. I found it at Ekukhuleni. The place was more than I expected. It gave me space, privacy, safety and serenity. In the week that I spent there, I came back refreshed, reconnected, found my purpose, reconnected with my God and ready to face the world. I fell in love with the place and am planning to make it an annual retreat. The hosts were amazing, made me feel welcomed and special.
What a lovely place. Will definitely go back again!
Lovely quiet environment with beautiful nature.
A weekend away to just relax with family in a quiet and country-type location. We enjoyed our time and the kids found loads to do in nature and swimming in the pool. The bedrooms are large and comfy and we had everything we needed for our stay. Our only suggestion for next time would be a mowed path to do a few walks if possible. Otherwise fantastic.
Really enjoyed visiting there.
Although we understand the drought condition, some outdoor activities besides swimming would have made the stay more interesting.
We had a lovely break away from the city.
Accommodation was very clean and neat. Very quiet and relaxing. Bushveld a bit overgrown. But the birdlife was amazing.
Lots of different birds, tranquil and even saw buck.
Will have to allow for loadshedding. Especially if you're coming through for a wedding. Water in fridge, coffee, tea and sugar sachets will also fit for the price.
We used the accommodation because we were attending a wedding in the area. Nice accommodation and very neat and clean. We will definitely use you again.
It's a good place to refresh your mind.
The hosts are very welcoming and helpful, you feel safe and completely at ease. The cottage is lovely and comfortable and the walks available on the farm are so scenic. If you are an avid bird lover, this is the place to come to as there have been over 145 different species spotted on the farm. I loved listening to the birds and did not realize that there were so many different bird calls.
Neat unit. Very convenient. Well equipped. Easily accessible. Will visit again.
Although the cottage was adequate and had everything, we needed we were very disappointed not to see any animals. It is listed as a game farm. The entire area needs some attention as it looks untidy and very overgrown. There were 2 mice in the cottage including under the bed in the main bedroom.
Nice in nature and quiet, no noise, nothing. Only animal noises you hear, delicious.
Very neat chalet with everything you need. Good service by the owners. Great rest after a hard year.
If you need peace and quietness Ekukhuleni Game Farm and Cottages is a place to be, plus the prices are very reasonable.
Had a great stay to get away and feed the soul. Karen and Carl are great hosts.
No land to ride. Was very calm. Didn't even know there were other vacationers there. Will definitely go back again.
If you want to cut yourself off from the city's noise and traffic, this is the place to go. I will definitely book again.
The accommodation was excellent, neat and clean. The environment was quiet and peaceful. Will go there again in the future.
The unit we stayed in was clean and tidy but in urgent need of maintenance. The door hinges crack and catch, my husband had to add cooking oil to our bathroom. Paint peeling off in several places, the front door can only be locked from the inside with a padlock and the one toilet leaks. Furthermore, the name Game Farm is misleading as the wildlife currently consists of a total of 2 kudus.
We were kindly received by Karin and Karl and were given a larger unit than the one we had booked. On Saturday, the children and grandchildren came to visit and really enjoyed the pool. Everything you need is in the unit. We can recommend the place and would go again anytime.
No wildlife seen. Cottage 1 and 2 are far from the pool. Guests have to walk or drive to it on a very overgrown footpath. Farm road from the tarmac is very good, but the thorn bushes are a bit dense and scratch vehicles. Cottage itself very nicely furnished and comfortable. Might suggest they get OpenView HD decoder for more options for watching TV.
It's a place with a lot of potential, but requires enormous renovation. Pool area needs improvement, chairs, shelter, place where you can sit while watching others swim. Drainage systems need to be fixed. The place requires a lot of consideration and renovation. But the owner Karen is very nice.
Great stay we had however better gate access management is needed for safety purposes.
We noticed in the tree next to the house there was a rope with cable on it, looking like a gallows. We drove on Saturday afternoon because we didn't feel safe. I talked to Karin about it on Monday and she said they use it for paint rollers to dry. We will not go there again!
Karen and her husband are extremely helpful, very friendly without invading your privacy as a guest. Great facilities, pool regularly maintained, beautiful surroundings. Great value for money. Cottages are homey and fully equipped. I highly recommend it! Will definitely come through again when in the area.
Everything was beautiful. Karen and her husband were so friendly and waited for us because we arrived late. I will definitely go back again, we met other guest in the pool and they were so friendly. Overall our stay was extremely perfect.
A place to unwind from the city life. Friendly hosts.
Ekukhuleni was a fantastic getaway for those who want a quiet bush experience. The cottage was fully equipped with everything we needed. So clean and tidy and we even had our braai cleaned in the morning. Super hosts, thank you.
We expected a gravel road, but were met by a concrete double track road wel found welcome after the heave rains. Karen was very friendly and showed us the various chalets. We were pleasantly surprised at the size of the double room chalets. Very spacious for socialising around the braai. The pool, though quite deep, was such a welcome refreshment in the heat. Ideal for weekends close to Gauteng. Would love to go back there.
If you are looking for a quiet, comfortable, affordable and very clean place to get away to that's close to Joburg, this is it! Although there were other guests, we felt like we had the place to ourselves while we enjoyed bird-watching, strolling around and making use of the very nice built-in braai. If you're lucky, you might even see the kudu and impala on the property. Karen and her husband were friendly and helpful hosts - the nights we were there were very chilly, so we requested extra firewood which they provided at no additional cost. We would happily return.
We were welcomed well, place is nice and quiet, also very clean.
We loved the place, all you need for a peaceful getaway.
Very beautiful place, clean and neat cottages and the owners are very friendly. Braai area cleaned daily and wood provided every day.
Very friendly, clean place, very quiet and will definitely go again.
If you are looking for silence, Ekukhuleni is the place for you.
The game farm was great we had our private time and the staff didn't bother us they were there when we needed them. I wish they can put lights by the pool so that we could swim at night. The pool was clean, we enjoyed swimming and they were nice to allow us 2 hours more to check out. The check out time is so perfect, 4 pm, so we had enough time to enjoy before departure.
I would recommend the place, especially to people who are looking for privacy. I would go again.
It's very nice in the forest, peaceful atmosphere and nice to relax from hectic life.
It was very nice ... Just had a problem with cockroaches..... alot of them.
Thank you to Karen for her friendliness and assistance. The cottage was spacious and clean and the bedrooms roomy. We would probably have rated the cottage higher if our stay was in winter. We would strongly recommend that they install overhead (silent) fans in the bedrooms and lounge, as the stand alone fans were very noisy and inadequate especially in summer.
The chalet was well equipped and tidy. The bed was comfortable and we felt really safe. Didn't see any wildlife, but mist and tracks. Lots of bird sounds but only saw a few.
Karen, a lovely person, received us warmly, offered us another place to live (no. 4), not no. 2 not. She was talking about the lawn mower that gave in. Could see that maintenance between the residential units needs a lot of work. Cook rats in one cupboard. No wildlife seen. Power failure happened every night, only for short periods. Covered parking at the residential units would be a plus.
Very nice stay, just too short.
Doors at cottage 3 need to be fixed.
Cottages are spacious and clean and well equipped, environment unspoilt with native vegetation, get the feeling you are on the farm, clean pool was a big bonus. We can recommend Ekukhuleni.
Friendly and helpful owners. Simple but neat accommdation, value for money.
Clean and neat accommodation. Wood provided daily and fireplace and braais cleaned daily. Peaceful area so you can relax after a week of hard work in the busy city.
Ekukhuleni is relatively close to other attractions, including the Sterkfontein caves and the Cradle of Humankind. Thank you for a lovely time, away from the city's hustle and bustle.
Good value for money. There are many tourist attractions in the area. Our cottage was tidy and clean. The braai wood is replenished every day without any additional costs. The owners are lovely people and we felt very welcome.
It's the ideal accommodation for people who want to get out of the city. The silence and nature is blissful. It's also nice and central to tourist attractions. There isn't a lot of game on the farm as indicated on the website, the obstacle course doesn't exist anymore and the walking trails are overgrown with gras which makes it difficult to walk along. It was lovely to sit by the dam though.
Nice peaceful atmosphere and silence is wonderful. The cottages are nice and private and beautiful. The chairs in the living room could only be more comfortable, especially for watching TV and having a good time.
It was a particularly peaceful weekend for me, for sure a place to just switch off from the busy hustle and bustle.
Very little game. Advertised as a game farm, a bit misleading.
It's a very beautiful place but I think they need to cut trees a little bit as they are falling all over the place and also need to install remote gate to ensure safety of the guests, especially at night. We were so scared as we arrived late and we had to open the gate, ayi, it's not ayoba, but other than that everything was perfect. I love the place.
While there were some minor maintenance issues, the place offers fantastic value for money and a very relaxing and peaceful atmosphere. Will definitely visit again.
A great weekend was had, peaceful, relaxing and comfortable.Had Kudu visiting us on the stoep early Saturday morning. A nice surprise!
The house needs to be renovated - the power outages are unacceptable. The lady at reception is an exceptional person and will go out of her way to make anyone feel welcome.
