This is our second time at the Elandskloof Trout Farm and every farewell feels sad - it is peaceful and quiet by the pond water. One can really rest well. We were there with the whole family - children, grandmothers, dogs included - and everyone enjoyed it immensely.
Lovely, beautiful view and hiking trails. Children ran around safely and happily on their own. Staff are very competent and helpful.

Oh my becoming! What a lovely weekend! No cell phone signal for sure. The green grass was great for our 1 year old to play on. The park kept all the children busy for hours. The cottage is well equipped with everything - even a pair of scissors that you usually forget. The freshly baked farm bread was a highlight. Already planning our next weekend there.
If you are a trout fishing enthusiast, this is perfect. There is a dirt road to get to the farm which is a bit bumpy at times. The beds have enough warm blankets for the winter season, but for comfort it was not so nice. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need, but remember your own cloths. The bathroom shower floor gets very slippery, so a "non-slip" mat might do the trick. The heated pool is nice and big, but only lukewarm, where the jacuzzi was boiling hot and took a very long time to cool down before it could be used and even then you couldn't stay too long. The fireplace is a great asset and creates a lovely atmosphere. The hostess was very friendly and accommodating.

We went for the predicted snowy weather and got lucky. The farm setting and accommodation were perfect for snow and we had a fantastic time, very picturesque and an amazing experience in the snow. The accommodation was perfect for the cold weather with an electric blanket and indoor fireplace. Unfortunately, the cellular signal is not good and there is no Wi-Fi.
We enjoyed our stay and will definitely visit again. The one downside was the daily rod fee of R120 (includes two fish to keep, they do prefer catch and release though) which is charged regardless of any fish caught. Even though we were told that the dams were stocked, a total of seven fish were caught over Easter weekend, based on information from the other fisherman.
Very friendly staff and management, had an amazing time and even snagged my first trout. Had a great time interacting with the farm animals and awesome sighting in the reserve.

Nature was picturesque. Quiet and safe environment. Servants are very friendly and helpful. Located near Dullstroom which makes it ideal to have peace of mind but also to drive to Dullstroom at any time. Very cute place.
The stay was pleasant, just a pity the road was a bit bad, but that's also understandable after all the rain. The swimming pool has not been used for a long time, which is a shame - the teenagers really wanted to swim. Thank you, we will definitely visit there again!
Low cost accommodation, but comfortable.
The only negative is the accommodation itself is very old fashioned. Nothing is new and modern. You can see they have spruced up the places a bit in years. There were also frogs in the hot water pool.
Ideal for fly fishing. Would recommend a table and chairs for outside at the braai though. The light outside was also broken which made it difficult with barbecue. Bedding needs attention. Staff very friendly and helpful. They bring wood, charcoal and ice to your home. Very nice view and ideal for fly fishing.

It was fun, but unfortunately no one caught trout during the period. The staff on departure were unfriendly, and the lady kicked us out because apparently no inspection had been done yet, and refused to refund us our deposit. We were never informed in advance about the arrangement.

People smoke in rooms and it seeps into your room. Photos show there is wildlife there. No wildlife.
Just not seeing anyone catch a fish. Would like to see that staff would perhaps be a bit involved in informing and perhaps helping new people.
We were displeased to have been housed in a unit which rained inside the unit and the lodge owners knew that this was the case and still allocated this unit to us! A bad impression for our Canadian guest! It was very cold and having the fireplace on the veranda didn't allow for the living area to get warm. In addition, the restaurant, which was why we picked the venue, was closed for the weekend.
You have to drive 3 km on the farm to get to the housing unit, there was no cell phone reception. We depended on information for the rally on WhatsApp. We did go back to reception and they said that all the signal is at the Lapa next to the Farm House. They moved us without difficulty. There was no hot water from the electric geyser all weekend. On inquiry on Friday we were informed to use the ablution next to the farmhouse, there is always hot water. Which was only hot on Friday night. Saturday night there was no hot water again. The donkey was not lit until Sunday morning at 07:00. The ladies in our company, including my 77-year-old mother, were really not happy with the hot water issue. The farmhouse was an old house, but still well appointed. There can sleep 11 people, but there is only 1 bathroom, toilet and shower.
We had an absolutely wonderful time there, definitely 11 out of 10. From our arrival to our departure. Will definitely recommend and visit again.

We were a group of 16 who were privileged to stay at Elandskloof the. The farm is breathtakingly beautiful. Our accommodation was very neat and clean. Celeste and her team went out of their way to make our time with them unforgettable. Some of us cycled, some of us jogged and others fished. Everyone was just full of compliments. We ate at the restaurant one night and we can really recommend it. Food was incredibly tasty and each dish was well priced. One night we got meat from the restaurant to grill ourselves and again it was top quality. Highland Gate golf course is 12 min away from the farm. Dullstroom town is only 16 minutes away. We are all already busy planning our next visit to Celeste and team.
Will visit here again.

Friendly staff and the farm was very well maintained, except in unit G there were a few things that needed attention such as an external sliding door that could not close properly and an entrance door that did not close properly due to a missing plate because the wind was blowing so that door made a lot of noise. Attention will have to be given to it for safety. Furthermore, no other complaints, except that moved from cottage16 to G without my being informed.
Nice and close to Dullstroom.
We booked a place at Elandskloof Trout Farm between Christmas and New Year and stayed in one of the Trout Lane Cottages. Terribly beautiful surroundings, nice and close to one of the ponds, quiet and the cottage is very spacious. We even took advantage of the fireplace and enjoyed in the cottage! Everything we needed was in the cottage but general maintenance seems to be a problem - we were surprised with a roof leaking in several places when we got home one day, windows struggling to open/close, shower heads does not spray well, etc. There is also no cell phone signal, which is very nice to switch off and enjoy nature, but then can't just quickly report a problem with a call. Children really enjoyed the complete climbing frames/playground!

Poor customer service and communication with guests.
Apartment is very basic and cold. No nice cozy place to hang out by the fireplace. Fireplace is also on porch, no living room. The kitchen is also sparse, no washcloth to wash dishes, no dish towels or warm dishcloths. Grill is outside, so if it rains you have to grill in the rain.
Beautiful scenery. No MTN mobile reception, only Vodacom here and there. Lovely warm water pool. Jacuzzi was unfortunately too hot to use.
Very quiet & peaceful environment. Could relax wonderfully. The log house at Elandskloof Trout Farm requires a little extra maintenance here and there. The shower doors need to be repaired or replaced. One room's window hinges need to be replaced. Window falls out when opened. Turntable of microwave oven no longer works. Still, we would like to go there again anytime.
Accommodation could be renovated, kettle was brown from the dirt inside, plates and glasses dirty on arrival. Fishing will test you and the ponds are not full, staff are very friendly and help where they can.
Thank you very much for a lovely peaceful weekend. We really enjoyed everything, the weekend was just too short and it was too hot for trout fishing. The accommodation was neat and clean, but the toilet and shower leak a lot, will you please take care of that. I would suggest that you put a small table by the braai area, it was quite awkward with the braai to put food down. Otherwise we had a great time relaxing and enjoying the nature and silence.

Elandskloof Trout Farm was a lovely weekend away. This motivated us to visit the Dullstroom area again. The service was beyond expectation and we appreciate it.
The log cabin we stayed in was comfortable and convenient. However, furniture is old and worn out and definitely needs upgrading. Kitchen utensils are also old, cutlery was dirty and mismatched. Glasses were insufficient. There are also not as many full dams and fly fishing opportunities as on advertisement. Our accommodation was nonetheless enjoyable!

I recommend Elandskloof, staff very friendly, and very helpful. Enjoy the bicycles to ride around there and make our own roads if we get lost but you come back to your destination. Beautiful views and the foxes that call are so beautiful in the evenings. If you are tired of the city or town, it is the place to come and rest.
It's a very peaceful place that is located in the mountains. There is no cell phone reception so no one can bother you. The resort is clean and the customer service is some of the best I have seen.
Will definitely go again. We had a room with a view. Patio with open fireplace was a pleasant plus! Could easily walk to the waterfall. Clay pigeon shooting right next door! Indoor swimming pool can be more user friendly.

The beautiful nature and tranquility offer you the opportunity to recharge your batteries. We often went for long walks with our dog, who really enjoyed the freedom. Power plugs and lamps in room difficult, power plug near mirror can work well. Not enough bowls for the microwave. A first batch of wood in the fireplace can make a latecomer feel welcome in the cold.

Very quiet farm life gets busy on weekends which are very sociable. Everyone uses the ponds to catch a trout or two. Furthermore, it is very relaxing with the 11 dams, the farm, animals, donkeys, horses, sheep that can be seen in the distance. Ospreys and foxes' cries make it a very relaxing time, away from town life. No TVs, music and noise. Outstanding.
Elandskloof Trout Farm is a beautiful place, located in a picturesque valley with pure fresh air. Units are well laid out with the basic necessities. We only stayed one night, family of 5. Had a great time in Dullstroom and surroundings which are close to the farm. However, the road to and from the farm is badly traveled, but beyond the owners' control, as it is the responsibility of the regional services council.
We enjoyed our break. Was a little unexpected that we had to pay R100 per person per day for fishing permits, which for my husband and 2 sons aged 7 and 10 amounted to R900. And to listen only fly fishing reels may be used. Was quite a disappointment and they were very bored. And of course our money is in the water. I'm sorry, but our first words we heard at reception were "Who are you looking for". It wasn't very pleasant either. No matter how hard the day was. Staff on farm were very nice and helpful and Joy is definitely an asset.
Upon our arrival we are pleasantly surprised with the large ponds and the lovely location of the farm. The lady at reception was not very friendly and asked my husband to make sure he read the rules of the farm and also clearly indicated that he should keep his fishing permit with him because her son will stop by and make sure we have our permit. The log house was wonderfully big and spacious with enough space for our group, there are 3 bedrooms and 2 bedrooms' bathrooms are en suite which means one bedroom had to be shared all the time because there are no separate bathrooms in the house which makes it a bit impractical, but no not so terribly put off. We understand that it is spring water - we come from a farm ourselves - but there is always soil in the water, no matter how long you run the tap, which you settle a little when you have to bathe and brush your teeth. The pool's water which also comes from a spring and is not a problem still did not make one's heart feel better about the condition of the covered swimming area, it looks a bit neglected and pool was not well filled, the color of the pool immediately made him look very dirty and with children there who wanted to swim it was just too hard to say yes. The thatched roof is also full of cobwebs above which is an indication that it is not really maintained. The cattle and horses grazing around on the grass were a wonderful sight especially with the children and kept them busy. The farm workers' residence is also right behind the log house, which means there are always people passing by your place. The workers were all very friendly and ready to help with anything. We had a problem with bees and they were there immediately to help and get bees away. The garden is in good condition and the lawns are lovely green. On our day out, a worker came to check and count that every plate, knife, fork and glass was there - which is understandable, but it was uncomfortable for us and felt like we were criminals. When he came we said there was a broken glass but he opened every cupboard, opened every drawer looked behind every sofa and it was a 20 minute investigation to make sure we left everything as it was. I would have understood if it was a luxury place with expensive items we could take away or if he came to do an inspection and just take a quick peek, but it was a truly uncomfortable check out for us.
Now this is really not a place I would recommend. You almost have to take an entire trek with you just to be a bit comfortable. There are no towels or dishcloths in chalets. No heater or fireplace in built house where we stayed. We were booked for three nights, but only stayed one night and returned home. What a waste of money and time. Terribly disappointed!

The accommodation comprises the 2 main houses, 7 rondavels, 6 thatched-roof cottages, 2 flatlets and a wooden cottage. Each unit is well-furnished and features an open-plan living area as well as a fully equipped kitchen, fireplace and a braai area. Please note the rondavels do not have their own bathrooms or fire places.
A heated, indoor swimming pool and Jacuzzi are available for guests' enjoyment.
Guests can enjoy fly-fishing, only trout, bird watching, hiking and mountain biking on the farm. There is a restaurant available, but please enquire beforehand since there are also private functions.
There is limited cell phone reception on the premises and no Wi-Fi. There are also no TV's in the units.
