Perfect in every respect: a cosy, comfortable cottage with everything you need and beautiful personal touches, fresh flowers on arrival! And the setting is spectacular.
We did a 2-week tour of the Garden Route, and Elephant Rest Forest Cottage and Cabin is one of the highlights (accommodation-wise) of our trip.
Our family of 5 had such a nice stay. No load shedding, if solar. Wi-Fi. The children had fun playing in the garden and even swam in the pond, even though it wasn't that warm. Children could ride their bikes, nice forest paths and beautiful nature! We also ordered pizzas from them on Sunday evening, they make it themselves. Was very tasty and they even have gluten free options too! I would recommend them anytime for a nice nature getaway holiday.
The owners are focused on you as a visitor. It is clean, quiet, safe and just absolutely worth it for a good rest. You can walk in their beautiful garden and feel like you are in the woods, but there are also nearby trails for walking in the woods. Absolutely beautiful!

This is a special place, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Brett and Adela have created an ideal getaway spot. It's clear that a lot of love and hard work has gone into this. We really enjoyed the stay and were warmly received. We can highly recommend Elephant Rest.
What a wonderful, wonderful place. Brett and Adela do not overlook the smallest detail to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The cottage is an example of true craftsmanship and simply contains everything one might need. You literally only need clothes and food. We had a great time exploring the area on our bikes and cooled off in the large pond. The silence, the birds, the forest. One really has to look far and wide for better.
It was one of the best places we have ever stayed. Definitely value for money. Nice big bed. Slept wonderfully. Thank you very much.

This is more than just a nice cottage. This is special with so much love and character put into the cottage and surrounding gardens. There are beautiful walkways in the garden with special little seating places hidden away. Little bits of art all over the place to enjoy and make one feel special. The walks in the forest are so enjoyable with the quietness and undisturbed natural surroundings. You have to visit this place to appreciate the beauty and effort put into it. It is really something else. We came away with only good thoughts. Please don't forget the hosts. Always willing to do anything you may need and very interesting explanations of the property.
It was my first time in Rheenendal, and how surprised I was to find such a gem. The cabin is exactly like the description and photos. It is very quiet and peaceful. The owner and his wife were very friendly and accommodating. And I absolutely loved the kitchen area. What a lovely way to still enjoy the comforts and enjoy nature. I will definitely recommend a stay at the Cabin and Cottage.
Beautiful view. Amazing people. Friendly. Upon our arrival we got home-baked muffins. It's worth the money. Will go back anytime.
